  • Im with ya Rockos without the Gi it cannot be done...

  • that was an exciting match.

Judo is too difficult without the Gi. It CAN BE done, but it certainly makes it a lot harder.

  • @rockos414 judo would be better for the street tho. imagine this guy getting attacked by someone wearing a jacket or something lol. no chance at all.

  • @hikitsuzuku I agree. A jacket works just as well as a Gi, if not better. It all depends on the context of the fight. For a No-Gi grappling tournament, I wouldn't make it a big part of my game.

But shit, what do I know? The guy in the video grappled just fine without the Gi.

  • Both those guys were great! So fast! Yeah for judo!

  • the judo guy sucked all he did was nothing but defend like a girl

  • @MasterHaterz The Judo guy won... lol

  • good match..judo guy had a great takedown defense cuz that wrestlers shooting some really good shots.

  • Is this a catchwrestling tournament?

  • Wow that was epic. Close to the end! :D

  • this doesn't really prove anything..

imo the judo guy was a bigger, stronger guy and to me it looked like he clearly has experience in wrestling.

  • Judo wins using a wrestling move (inside trip)

  • @erosener93 used in both wrestling and judo though.. O uchi gari , i guess that just proves the effectiveness of the technique.

  • @erosener93 Judo wins using a judo move. youtube.com/watch?v=XDdMbxsD0z8

  • @WhiteBeltAcademy

Oh. In wrestling its called an inside trip. I guess they both use the same move. My mistake

  • judo wins!!!

  • which is which?

  • @TheMrlongboard4life Judo is the one that won and the guy in black and red

  • @Mitchx42 thnx man

  • The guy in the white is fast!

  • they were fast... ill give em that... but they had such trouble with accurate takedowns...

  • All the time spent arguing amongst ourselves, we can be using that time to learn from each other and fix wholes in our own games regardless of we know. As a GRAPPLER, I wrestling, train in Judo and train primarily BJJ. I like to use techniques from both judo and wrestling to tighten up my game. If we all spent more time trying to learn from each other whether its Sambo, Judo, Wrestling or BJJ we'd be better off. I train with wrestlers and pick there brains as well as Sambist and judokas. Let'

  • @19thaman79 what do you mean pick their brains

  • @Martialdoismyway What I mean by that is to ask as many questions as possible.

  • @19thaman79 ah I see now

  • Freestyle wrestling and judo without a gi are the same shit.

  • @19thaman79 no, they really arnet... real talk, wrestling requires more skill and strength

  • @schmittywhamjenson The only thing separating freestyle wrestling and Judo with the exception of the gi is the rule set. I train both and can say that with certainty and from experience as for your comment on which one takes more skill, from my experience, judo. Wrestling does involve more strength, that I do agree.

  • @19thaman79 But i do think wrestling needs more skill, just because of the tight singletts and the baggy GI's there is nothing to hold in wrestling.

  • @schmittywhamjenson You have a point with the lack of grips due to no gi but thats what under/over hooks are for. I grew up in a wrestling family(my older brother was an all state wrestler)which is probably why wrestling comes a little more natural to me where as Judo takes more time to learn.

  • @19thaman79 i grew up in a wretling family too

  • @19thaman79 true wrestling is great and easy to learn, judo is great and also one of the most complex martial arts to learn

  • @fitnessboyPR From my experience, Judo is harder BUT to do wrestling, you need more stamina and conditioning. Judo is more complex but you can be 90 and train.

  • @19thaman79 I agree Wreestling requires way more strenght than Judo, Wrestlers are the strongest fighters no doubt. Judo use oponents strenght and lack of balance. Both are very effective. Mix Judo wrestling and brazilian jiu jitsu and the result will be a great grappler.

  • @19thaman79 I totally agree with you...

  • @abbeykroeter yes fine whatever I don't even care about this anymore, I respect wrestling and your input but I'm asking you also to respect my opinion, I just feel that judo is a superior sport.

  • And btw bear hugs, gator rolls, cement mixers, lateral drops, headlocks don't use legs.

  • Look up Ben askren baddest SOB alive. That guy had a bad ass sprawl but wrestling wins overall :D

  • Comment removed

  • couchigari!!!!! :D

  • @seeshomarusama I don't mean to be a judo nazi, but that was ouchi gari, not kouchi gari. the O (rather than KO) entails a bigger reaping action, and circles to the outside are considered the bigger movement in Judo.

  • Daniel "ACTION JACKSON" Jacko win by ouchi-garity...flawless victory

  • that's ironic, the Judo guy used a wrestling move to take down the wrestler at the end...

  • @sciencefreak2402 It's a judo throw also. Check 'Ouchi Gari'

  • @sciencefreak2402

Regardless. Wrestling is human universal art.

  • @6414david bull. I'm in wrestling at my high school and I still reinforce my statement that all they do is legs. Hardly ever anything else, and I throw all of our juniors and seniors with judo throws, so no, not that easy to avoid.

  • @TheAmazingBuck Too bad your team and area only know how to attack legs, unless you are (very likely) exaggerating. I wrestled as far back as the 70's and even then, as a 6 year old, I knew the duck-under, arm drags, head and arm, and other take-downs using the upper-body. Oh yeah and you may want to watch some greco guys- not even allowed to use the legs and they take you down. Check out 6000 year Sumerian old glyphs.. wrestling moves with trips, upper body ties, leg attacks, everything.

  • Stop trash talking Judo and Wresling are complementary we doesn 't have to "war " like karate vs boxe vs muai thai vs taekwendo on youtube

    A grappler from France

  • guys.. no fighting? we are all grapplers here.. i have done judo for a year or so.. im a green belt.. but i still find it hard to take people down, that is my weak part of my game. and i just started wrestling.. both are great. and even better used together. so stop dissing eachother. both are excellent arts and get the person on there back so quit yelling and enjoy the video.

  • @6414david you're a dumbass, way better takedowns? All you guys ever do is aim for the legs, even if you can do other things. And I don't think your balance is better when you can just pull and you're completely off-balance

  • @TheAmazingBuck not really we don't just aim for legs u obviously dnt kno shit about wrestling takedowns. we do trips, throws, duckunders, supplies all kinds of shit. all u guys do is throw which throws r really easy to avoid btw.

  • JUdo and wrestling are very similar, one is judo with a gi one is without plus subs.

  • Comment removed

  • @judopathoftruth

    In other words.

Judo has a Gi, stand up grappling and submissions.

Wrestling has a singlet, just pins and stand up grappling.

  • This whole thing about Wrestling vs. Judo just dependsbon the practicioner (probably not spelled correctly) but I would say Karo Parisyan could beat Chael Sonnen even though Chael is a great wrestler. I would choose Brock Lesnar over Karo because he's huge and is a national champion.

  • Wrestling is the main kind of grappling used in mma but I'm not that sure I just wrestle in high-school

  • Both styles bring different components to the table, and as true mixed martial artists we have to dissect each style and take what works best and apply it to our game, both styles are good, they just take different perspectives on how they fight because of the rules in there sport, this is why wrestlers have beautiful double legs and judokas have beautiful leg sweeps, both of which are viable for MMA.

  • Wrestling (freestyle and greco-roman) is superior than judo. Wrestling dominate the world of MMA.See Cain Velasquez, see Brok Lesnar (defeated a world class judoka Min soo Kim), see Frank Edgar, see Jon Jones, see Dan Henderson, see Dominick Cruz, see GSP, see Melendez, see Dan Severn vs. Oleg Taktarov. Rulon Gardner defeated olympic judo champion in mma debut. Mongolian wrestler won a olympic gold medal in judo -100 kg! Strength or technique, throw or takedown , Wrestling is better than judo.

  • @LottaGrappling Superior??? You speak as this marcial arts were completely different. The throws and submissions they use in MMA are present also in judo and jiu-jitsu. The fighters you mentioned don´t use just Wrestling to win, right? Besides, marcial arts aren´t superior or inferior, they are just different, people can use them effectively or not.

  • @LottaGrappling pride is dead so mma is ufc , ufc = usa = wresling when mma will grow up in europe you will see a lot of judoka particulary in France (i talk with easy words because my english sucks sory ^^)

  • @LottaGrappling i wouldnt say its better. judo provides different techniques than does wrestling. it would be stupid not to learn judo as well as wrestling (which most good mma fighters and wrestlers do)

  • When it comes to technique Judo is better. Wrestlers had great strength because of hardcore conditioning, Judo does not need too much brute strength. Just imagine a Judoka having a wrestler's strength

  • Note to all wrestlers, dont hug after matches. wrestlers dont hug

  • What the he'll r u on dude judo is far better than wrestling it's not just this guy it's on pretty much every judo vs wrestling video on YouTube judo has better fighting style than wrestling that's y no wrestler can beat a judoka plus judo been around for longer and plus wrestlers got their piece of crap variations of throws from judo so shut up

  • @kooldude121858 Haaha , Judo has been around longer ?

You sound like an idiot. Wrestling goes all the way back to the ancient Greek Olympics. Stop arguing about the differences , and just do both.

  • fuck judo. wrestlings better we got better baalance and takedowns. this is just a bad example the judo guy was better then the wrestler. but judo is not better than wrestling. all those judo throws are done in wrestling plus even more different takedowns besides throws

  • @6414david dont talk shit about something u dont know shit about please... im doing judo and wrestling, wrestling is about all control and doesnt have nearly as many take downs and throws as judo. All the wrestler did is go for the shitty double leg which if u try it on me ill uchimata the shit out of u.

  • @6414david with all do respect on most of these you tube vids you see the Judoka throwing the wrestlers more then the wrestlers throwing the Judoka?

  • der im dunklen outfit ist wohl der judoka oder ?

  • Holy shit when he hit that O uchi gari I jumped off the toilet. Judo kicks ass.

  • @Brandontrann I did that comment is from a week ago.

  • fuck judo...

  • @batman1048 fuck you

  • pankration i think :/

  • @Brandontrann Oh absolutely for sure it does, and that is why I think the argument is pointless, I just prefer wrestling and think that when combined with Jiu Jitsu it is the most effective fighting style there is.

  • @tuccake i think judo is the best material art ever and if you combine that with jiu jitsu you have the most deadly

fighting style there is. Or combine judo and krav maga :D

  • @rokygamer Come on dude Krav Maga, lets get serious. But wrestling has better and more diverse takedowns than Judo does and then you combine that with the mat work of jiu jitsu which no one disputes, you have the most effective style of fighting.

  • @Brandontrann Oh I meant my argument that Wrestling is better than Judo.

  • @Brandontrann You were trying to help my argument the whole time?

  • @Brandontrann Yes the simple takedowns are natural and I have never disagreed with that but the mat work isn't and it isn't easy to get the hang of like you said it was. Also you are helping my original argument of wrestling being better than judo.

  • @Brandontrann I will agree a double leg (or with kids its more of a tackle) is extremely natural, but that is about it. You never would see a kid running an ankle, throwing a half in, throwing legs in or barring up an arm because they aren't natural movements. And I have seen kids who have never done any sort of grappling go for guillotine chokes, rear naked chokes, and even arm triangles. Some of the takedowns of wrestling are very natural but the mat work is not at all.

  • @Brandontrann Jiu Jitsu is far more natural than wrestling is. The mat work of wrestling at first feels very awkward and it is very hard to get the hang of.

  • @Brandontrann lol I never said sprawl in brawl I said in grappling you don't see the all of the aspects of wrestling, all you see are the takedowns and the sprawls. Why are you getting so pissed bro?

  • @Brandontrann lol why are you getting so defensive? And if you want to talk about profile images yours is a cartoon. And I have some video of me teaching a grappling class if you really want me to put it up. All I said was that it is obvious that you have never wrestled because I can tell that you haven't, and that is fine but just don't talk about a sport that you know nothing about.

  • @tuccake i dont think jiu jitsu has better matwork than judo and i also think judo has way more takedowns than wrestling but nvm we both got our opinions

  • @rokygamer Yes we have our opinions but lets look at the facts. The mat work of Judo is EXTREMELY limited compared to Jiu Jitsu's. Think about it every single move on the mat in Judo is legal in Jiu Jitsu and then there are way more submissions and sweeps that are allowed in Jiu Jitsu. Judo's matwork should never be compared to Jiu Jitsu's. Also all the throws and takedowns in Judo are allowed in wrestling and then there are also way more on top of those.

  • @tuccake Big guy i think u have a point but not exactly on the bullseye. jiu jitsu is basically kosen judo and thats how the brazillians spell it. Ju Jutsu is the real term. Now as a judoka i agree that matwork in competition is limited to non existent but you learn it either way. Now if you get something like Sambo (which derives from judo) it will out manuver "Jiu jitsu" all day on the mat, with a barrage of leg and spine locks (gi or no gi).

  • @judontkno I have grappled with Sambo guys before and their leg locks are deadly. They will catch a lot of BJJ players who aren't taught leg locks, but that is pretty much the one thing they have over a jiu jitsu player. A jiu jitsu player's game is usually much more complete. Personally I think that these grappling style arguments are stupid. Why can't we just say grappling is grappling and learn the techniques from all styles?

  • And if you think about it all styles have holes. IMO BJJ is the most complete but it does have holes. BJJ players usually have shitty leg locks and can't fight from the turtle position, Catch Wrestlers usually have a limited guard, and obviously folkstyle wrestlers can't fight off their backs. Thats why these style argument hurt grappling as a whole. We shouldn't be arguing, we should be learning each others' techniques so that we all have a more complete game.

  • @tuccake I couldnt agree anymore

  • @tuccake Lets clear that up a bit Judo mat>work is time limited in a tourney True but Judo is not limited in ground techniques I took Bjj for awhile and found the flow of the techniques in BJJ are better then Judo but they have alot of the same techniques just used in a diffrent manner when I started BJJ it came easier because I wasn't lost on the ground like a beginner the names were diffrent some of the transitions were diffrent but the move it self was the same .

  • @glock70 Im not saying is bad and if you come in with a Judo background you will be miles ahead of someone with no grappling experience. Judo just doesn't have all of the sweeps, submissions and transitions that BJJ has.

  • @glock70 I agree with sweeps and transitions BJJ opened my eyes to some really good transitions and great sweeps but submissions IDK> I knew the all Subs being taught just different names and BJJ hit some of them from different positions with subs it was mostly little things that made them different >chokes &strangulation I found to be pretty much the same along with the Joint locks and we really didn't do a whole lot of leg locks or neck cranks I did learn leg locks inJudo & neck cranks

  • @rokygamer JUDO the bestt

  • @strikeforcefight ur right:)

  • @Brandontrann Hahahaha now I can tell that you have never wrestled. It is pretty obvious to me that you watch mma and you think that wrestling is all just takedowns and sprawls, that couldn't be farther from the truth. In mma and even grappling you don't see even close to all of the takedowns, tilts, reversals, and escapes that are such a huge part of wrestling. Please don't try to talk about a sport that you have obviously never competed in.

  • judo is the best

  • @kdyrby Wrestling>Judo by a lot IMO even though the argument is pointless.

  • @tuccake

not according to this video. Judo > Wrestling all day. Bruh.

  • @2431346 This is one match, but can you think of very many Judo players who have done well at the highest levels of grappling? Jacare comes to mind but that is about it. As for wrestlers there is Jeff Monson, Jake Shields, Mark Kerr, Mario Sperry has focused more on wrestling lately, and there are several others. And I know this doesn't mean anything but there are hundreds of very successful wrestlers in mma and only a handful of Judo guys.

  • @tuccake True but that is changing , MMA is starting to see more high level Judoka look at MTV'S Bellator Toby Imada,Rick Hawn ,Ferrid Kheder,Hector Lombard,Jim wallhead, Makoto Takimoto , not to mention Rahdi Furgerson MMA fighter 3-0 and 2004 summer Olympics is the conditioning coach for American Top Team and a MMA fighter so Judo is climbing the wall and shoudn't be counted out .

  • @glock70 Yeah there are more and more Judo players but you also have to remember that it is Bellator. There have only been a couple that have been succesful in the UFC/Strikeforce I can think of Stun Gun, Akiyama, Fedor and Okami but that is about it. I am sure that there are more that is just off the top of my head.

  • @tuccake yes it is Bellator but Bellator does have some talent Eddie Alvarez great boxing ,Ben Askren NCAA DIV 1,Christian M Pumbu >great Judo >Jay Hieron NCAA DIV-1 UFC/STRIKE FORCE VET>Partricio Freire kick ass boxing and great BJJ A couple more with Judo back grounds in the UFC Yoshinyuki Yoshida & Shinya AOKI if you get a chancelook Giedrius Karavakas he won his last fight via Kesa Katame with some punches from this pin he won in Judo fashion.

  • @glock70 Yeah there is a lot of talent in Bellator (Ben Askren is my favorite fighter) but it is still not the UFC. Again there are several successful Judo players but there are hundreds of successful wrestlers.

  • @tuccake Yeah Ben is good I like the fact that he doesn't Just shoot he goes for throws which is more exciting then shooting in , everyone in MMA has a shoot and spwal so get's kind of boring watching a single or double turn into a leg battle and true there are more succesful wrestlers in UFC but there weren't that many Judoka competing in MMA until the last couple of years and those that were , were in Pride or K-1 > for judo it was always the gold not the cage until now.

  • @glock70 Yeah I have to agree with you they are just starting to show up in the highest levels of MMA. I actually think Okami has a chance to take to belt from Anderson and he has a strong Judo background.

  • @tuccake Not that I don't like Anderson I think he is a great Fighter but every now and then you would like to an upset and watch the top dog fight to get back to glory .

  • @glock70 Yeah I am kind of sick of him and GSP being champs. And I like both of those guys I just get bored.

  • @tuccake GSP >his fights use to be so explosive I use to love to watch his striking game I know MMA is becoming more high end with grappling but sometimes I like to watch a striker stick to his or her base and

Bang it out , I love grappling but I love striking Just as much or even more so .

  • Quick sprawl

  • i know that the wrestling guy was a 1.premier league wrestler.and he is very good.otherwise he wouldnt wrestle in this league.the judoka had the better reflexes, better technique and is very strong for his weight.and he is a spartan:)

  • JUDOKA is Awesome

  • @Brandontrann wrestling and judo are pretty much equal arts when it comes to the takedown, where it differs is that judo teaches you submissions, sub defense and superior positioning. That being said i prefer Judo, but i cross train both. :)

  • @toolfan92 I always had a feeling when I watched tournaments that judokas are always standing upright and wrestlers have alot more fighting time on their knees or in squat position so judo looked like it could not defend against wrestler in that situation in this video they both look alot like wrestlers to me. I asume that guy that uses leg sweeps is judoka. So can you tell me if I am wrong since I have no idea about grappling martial arts only stand up ones and you do both judo and wrestling ?

  • @Theseus1000 appears to me the judo guy is in black, but he does know srestling. the takedowns are judo sweeps though.

  • @Brandontrann they are actually equal. its obvious the wrestler in this video is not on the same skill level as the judoka. he changes level fast but only seems to use two weapons: the double and the single. not enough to overwhelm the judoka who knows both and clinch throws, trips etc.

  • lo, damn sprawl. always works

  • On street you can grab the clothes and also you can take out the T-shirt. The Gi makes the difference.

  • although judo might seem a little stronger in a takedown contest, wrestling might seem the better way to go for mma.what do you guys think?

  • @sharqy19 wrestling is dominating in mma because the wrestlers learn judo and bjj too so they can neutralize the submissions. if you just know wrestling alone you'll get submitted pretty quickly by a good judo or bjj guy. There's a video on youtube with frank trigg fighting a judo black belt before he started his mma career and he got choked out cold

  • @ThomasMin1988 Frank also went on to learn Judo and earned a black belt as well as a purple in BJJ

  • The judo guy is way better at judo than the wrestler is at wrestling

  • who won? the judoka? O.o

and what do u guys prefer judo or wrestling?

  • WAAAW big fight!

  • Damn, the two are good! Great display of skill, technique and power!

  • Top aber es wäre super wenn in der Beschreibung drinsteht wer der Judoka und wer der ringer ist.. ! ;_)

  • @joergus der spartaner ist der judoka

  • unfortunately you can't see the great seiou nage at 0:28

the guys were just too fast

  • für mich der beste fight des tages

  • i can't stop watching this , its beautiful

  • that o-uchi-gari was sooooo sweet :D

  • awesome...
