  • This film never gets old, I luv it, me and my family always choose to watch this over any other movie :P

  • This scene still gives me goosebumps. Superb acting, pacing, direction and music. All the parts needed for greatness are there save one: Believability. I just can't get past that utterly *ridiculous* water-is-lethal-to-aliens plot device. Aliens want our planet but water is fatal to them? Waitwhut?? Why not something more believable like fruit juice or soda or *anything* but water? Our planet would seem like a toxic waste dump to them... and they WANT that?? Argh! /facepalm

  • it would be funny if the alien looked at mel pointed its finger at him and said I WANT MY FINGERS BACK MOTHER FUCKER

  • Despite what people think of Shyamalan as a filmmaker today, or the behavior of the actors in recent years, this is an amazing movie with a beautiful message. Thank you for uploading this wonderful scene!

  • one of the best scenes Ive seen

  • Chuck Norris would have survived

  • Still to this day, my favourite score from any movie. It just hits a certain area in my mind that no other piece has.

  • Amazing scene from an amazing film! God it's so scary!

  • I will never ever be able to watch this scene without crying. It's such a strong scene and I watched it at a very important time in my life. Thank you, M. Night Shyamalan.

  • Even though I am no longer a fan of Mel lol I do like this movie because of the deep spiritual undertone it has.

  • the music saved this movie

  • @mostecri so did the writing

  • Brilliant directing! Outstanding scoring! Both working in perfect harmony = Bliss

  • I think this scene should have been called Kenyan in the living room...

  • haha, it just looked like he hit the camera guy instead of the alien, lol.

  • This scene is overall stupid as well as whole movie, but the music is just awesome.

  • @McTatarka lol.. how can someone say Signs is stupid movie!! you would have watched it as an Alien movie! MNS is way ahead of us, so its not easy to understand his movies..

  • "So, what you have to ask yourself, is what kind of person are you? Are you the kind that sees signs, sees miracles...or do you believe that people just get lucky? Is it possible, there are no coincidences?" Hmmmmm...I'd have to go with LUCKY.

  • What a masterpiece! not many people understand this movie! shame!

  • The last good movie Mel Gibson made.

  • @southport97 'Edge of Darkness'?...Go watch it...

  • The alien...

    Looks like Voldermort's grey twin

  • The part where Merrill hits the alien with the baseball bat is one of the best scenes in the movie

  • why the fuck would aliens come to a planet that is mostly covered in water?

haha anyways i got my super soaker in hand and water ballons as my back up lol

  • music and movie were good

  • Just the night before he was cursing God for giving his son asthma.

  • I LOVE Phoenix's yell....hawt!!!! Both him and his brother were good looking...I fell in love with the Phoenix bros after watching this movie and Stand By Me!! =]

  • this has got the be the best movie of al time (in my oppinion)

and i absolutely love the song

  • why do aliens have a lot of technology and they dont have clothing

  • they're aliens. clothes for them might not even exist.

  • pause @ 4:19

the alien has an ape-ish face, almost like a black mans.

  • @sg57 soooo?

  • i never understood why the alien didnt fight back... he just stood there and took three swings from a baseball bat

  • i know right

  • @MikeTheMovieDude Well they did leave him behind, how do we know hes not retard.

  • Im not really a religious person, but i do believe that there is something out there, watching over us, what i don't know, but we tend to take comfort believing there is someone else other than us in this world. This movie is an example of that. Except the aliens are trying to kill them...but how they were stopped with water, that was an amazing scene, it all made sense.

  • Its a movie about having faith and how the littlest things are connected.

  • its about god takeing hes wife away to help em beat the alien fucks

  • this scene really got me and the entering house sad emotionally powerful i thought

  • i thought the film was superb

  • W Phoenix!!

  • one of the greatest movies ever made

  • @wowcreve I totally agree!!

  • @wowcreve .... and one of the most atmospheric soundtracks ever composed

  • @wowcreve I like the first half of it until I realized that Mel Gibson is a fundamentalist Christian, therefore be in a movie with a Christian bias towards the plot. Basically, God's playing favorites with his creations. It was all part of God's plan to have a guy fall asleep at the wheel, kill someone's wife, and just before she dies express a message about the future. In the mean time, send his other creations to a planet that comprises of a liquid that's pretty much lethal to them.

  • @MisterMcKinney He's actually a Christian pastor who's lost his faith, that's why God sent the aliens to help him, and perhaps others around the world who aren't in the film. That's why I think Shyamalan decided to tell the story from Mel Gibson's character's viewpoint, to help remind us we should never lose faith.

  • @wowcreve But he lost his faith because his wife died. And she died so she could tell Graham how to defeat the aliens. What kind of crummy circle is that? : P

  • ok, how the hell do these aliens get hydrated? Unless their dry or something.

    XD

and uh.... If they are si smart, why cant they open doors? I mean it was not even locked. Panicking? lol

Or do their doors open differently lol.

and what was the twist in this movie???

  • The movie has nothing to do with aliens.

It has to do with God.

  • What?? do u mean

  • When the wife dies, she tells her nephew 'to swing away' and for Mel 'to see'.

Then Mel gives an explanation as to why she said such confusing things as she died. "All the little electrons were firing off in her head. There's no one watching out for us."

Basically the wife died to give Mel that message (from a higher power... GOD). So when the aliens came, he knew what to do. Swing away and use water against them to make them leave.

  • it'd be funny if just after the aliens arrived outside the house it starts to rain

  • In real life I doubt bullets could hurt these beings.

  • a knife chopped off his fingers they can't open doors and they fail in intelegence by being vulnerable to water and then coming to a planet 75% water. how come nobody stole their spaceship when they arrived i would've

  • i dont want to be sound stupid and stubborn to your complaints about the movie but the fact is that a knife will cut just about any kind of living tissue i know, the aliens attempted to contaminate the water so they would be safe, and their spaceships were high in the sky and invisible so it would be hard to steal them.

  • You are awesome! Lol.

  • this is soooo emotional. just that revelation hitting him, that God was with him the whole time. And everything happened for a reason. So beautiful. I love movies that give you revelations at the end and the characters emotionally breakdown because of it. Thats why i think i love Night's movies so much. Lady in the Water is probably my favorite of his. Such an emotional and touching ending.

  • This movie is the scariest movie ive ever seen

has the best soundtrack ive ever seen.

  • is it possible to see soundtracks?

  • listen to 4:35.

  • obviously. and the story is brilliantly woven, but i think that maybe this was slightly unrealistic. Sorry i kinda pick up on little things in films.

  • no prob

  • No duh its a movie

  • The ending here always makes me cry. I love it!

  • sure it can kill big dogs easy and jump massive distances, but it cant handle a guy with a baseball bat lol not the smartest alien ever... especially as it hasn't realise it basically surrounded in water lmao

  • The movie is not about aliens its about fate. They're just a plot device.

  • Too bad there are so few people who realize that ;)

  • roger ebert and a few of the big critics did read it correctly

  • m.NIght. shymalan is an amazing director

  • this movie scared the LIVING CRAP OUT OF ME when i was 7 and it still does!!!!!

  • then how old are you noW???

  • if water is acid them british people would live as its always raining

  • AMAZING Movie! I really hope M. Night can get back on track

  • True. Keep Faith. We can win this.

  • Faith

  • i LOVE the sound they make really cool....and my dad can do it just like them really really cool :)

  • omg is this real!!!!!

just kidding that would be cool if it was though. then you can prove and see if aliens really do exist

  • Really wouldn't it of been funny if it were raining? Also I'm pretty sure that an adverse reaction like the rapid decomposition of tissue by water would be undoubtedly impossible. Because water is the foundation of life and I don't know if I am correct or not but it did show the alien bleeding and doesn't blood contain hydrogen? Really I think that this is a great movie even though it showed very little which also probably made it feel more realistic.

  • maybe water is like acid to them?

  • Yeah that is what the movie is portraying but I am thinking on a realistic and scientific level. I mean for a biological entity from another planet and galaxy to exist it would have to have almost identical living conditions to those we have on Earth simply because the conditions on Earth are rare and designed to create and sustain life. So if these aliens were to indeed exist then they would of been exposed to water already and of course water would of already been used and exposed to them.

  • or maybe the universe has a life of its own somthings which just cant be answered by science as we know it...

  • Not necessariliy. Everything on Earth is Carbon-based life.

However, the next closest building block for life is Silicone and it could thrive in extremely hot conditions where there is very little water naturally present.

  • wow i remember when m night movies were good

    not like the happening lmao

  • you see,my theory is this:that alien didn't come alone to their house.why would his friend leave but he stay?Revenge! That alien has only one reason to stay in that house and that is to kill the person who took his fingers.

  • i think we can put together the TEARJERKER scenes of each Night Film,

Lady in Water is The Healing Scene

The Village is The Those We Don't Speak Of Scene

    Signs is this one

Sixth sense would prob be when Willis finds out he's a bloody ghost

  • Agreed - good analysis

  • Don't forget Unbreakable after he saves the family, with his son at the breakfast table, perhaps?

  • thats a reptilian alien search it on youtube "REPTILIAN"

  • "U CUT MY FINGERS OFF!"

"NOW IM GONNA KILL UR CHILD!"

    haha these aliens are funny.

  • Hes a creeped out alien who's holding the kid hostage cos he doesn't want to be killed by the savage humans :P

  • screw him they aducted some of ours... that good enough reason to exterminate them

  • Eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind, buddy :P

  • this film is so under rated. amazing story and directing by m night shyamalan. great performances from mel gibson, joaquin phoenix and the woman who played the sheriff. an amazing score by james newton howard. 8/10!

  • damn, he beat that alien like a mexican

  • lol

  • omg that's bad lol.

  • One of the scariest parts of the movie

  • alien got pwned

  • It tied together the details from the rest of the film and revealed the purpose. Would you mind explaining what the film would/should have been without this scene?

  • wew!!! thank you so much for uploading this video!!!! coz i haven't seen the last part of this movie!!! thank you so much!!!

    M. nights' unbreakable and including this movie are his finest...!!!

  • Watch out a scrunt might eat you.

  • what i don't get is mel is a priest. they don't get married or have childred?!?!

  • some priests do get married and have children.

  • Depends what denomination of Christianity his character believes in. Protestant priests can have family and children.

Catholic priests used to be able to, centuries ago, also.

  • SWING AWAY!!!!!!! SWING AWAY!!!!!!!

  • Dude at 5:00 marrel hit the damn camera man shiitt

  • FANTASTICO FILM!!!!!!!!!!! CHI NOn L'HA CAPITO SI SPARI

  • Great movie!!!

  • Great movie one of M. Night's best including Unbreakable

  • someone screamed in the movie theatre when the alien appeared on the tv screen

  • Great movie 10/10

  • Loved this movie. Very moving scene.

  • 5:00-5:05 is funny because the alien clearly sees Merrel taking careful aim at his head yet he just stands there and lets it happen lol.

  • The music is truely amazing, Hand of fate 1 and 2! This movie opened my eyes and made me think outside the box. Everything we do effects another. Things happen for a reason. There are no coincidences

  • Great MOVIE!!!

    Ps:In minute 3:42 he's like a robot.

  • Great alein movie. better than wor of the worlds.

  • God I love this movie. I believe in M. Night's potential and that he'll create another brilliant movie like this one and the others!

  • does that kid die

  • no,

  • Amazing movie,Shyalaman is truly a master...And that scene was totally Epic!

  • My second favorite movie!

Are you sure you're alone? (And I am not talking about Aliens ...)

    "Did somebody save me?"

    "Yeah.....I think someone did..."

    That movie changed my life!

    Thanks M. Night!

    Thank you!

    PS:Sorry my Terrible English,guys!

    I am from Brazil!

  • Terrible English? There wasn't a single mistake! You're definitely speaking better than some peoplez around here!

  • Your English is excellent. Wish I knew Portugese!

  • M Night shyamalan is a best director and the music of James Newton howardis wonderful. I'm FRENCH sorry for the bad english

  • do you still have this video? can you send me it, ill e-mail you my msn address once i get a reply to this comment from you, wxtubing :) thanks.

  • beating the hell out of aliens with a bat... earthbound anyone?

  • Just imagine the carnage you could unleash on the visitors with a working firehose and Sammy Sosa's corked bat.

Without a doubt, "Signs" stands with "The Sixth Sense" and "Unbreakable" to form a cinematic golden trinity of terror and triumph. One day, M. Night shall once again reign upon us a story that will delightfully haunt our minds as his earlier efforts did so masterfully. Have faith.

  • i hope mr shyamalan gets back on his feet and make great movies again.

  • amazing movie. still makes me cry and get scared. this movie is the reason i keep bottles of water and a baseball bat in my room.

  • and wat did they do wit the alian corpse

  • probably used it for firewood lol

  • dude lmao good 1 hahahahahahahah

  • that alian got effed up

  • Favourite M.Night movie?

    Go.

  • Hats off to the actors. All of them. Lead by Mel Gibson and the little girl. Joaquin is perfect too. It's almost shocking to play this well. And the crying dinner scene...

This, James NH's music and M.NS's sense of directing, and bam, you have perfection in images

  • from this to the happening...what happened?

  • Not only the best movie, it have also the greatest score. James did a fantastic job.

  • A powerful, moving ending. One of the greatest movie I've ever seen.

  • same

  • You know I have friends that did not like this movie at all. Maybe I shouldn't hang out with them anymore.

  • love this film

my fave part is this part

  • absolutely fantastic ending. the music is incredible and very emotional. brings a tear to my eye

  • This movie freaked me out in the theater BEST movie ever!!

  • I love this movie! Best M. Night movie ever!

  • BEST M. NIGHT SHYAMALAN MOVIE EVER!

Whoever doubts that is retarded and should fucking die!

  • Aliens are out there. Why would only Earth have live? Think about it.

BTW, if aliens were advanced species, why didn't their genius minds invent clothes?

  • Comment removed

  • I watched your movie, half past one right? Great work! How the hell did you think of that??

I gotta say it was very Shayamalan-esque right down to the twist ;)

wXtubing thanks for the clip btw :)

  • I love this movie! Best M. Night movie ever!

  • Also, water is in abundance in the universe, along with hydrogen, etc., so they would have encountered it often before.

  • "Look guys, how can they know, instantly what kills them on every planet? To everyone that's posted that, i'd like you to tell me every kind of plant, germ, dust or airborne-allergen on Mars that could be potentially deadly to humans. You can't can you? Exactly."

Because water is a simple molecule, and those other things are exceedingly complex biological phenomena. We know exactly what elements and simple molecules kill us, they certainly would.

  • We know that THEY knew water was harmful to them. It said in the movie they had intentionally picked sites that were far from water.

  • i dont need to tell you every germ on mars that would kill a human being.. the lack of oxagen would instantly kill us.. besides last time i checked there wernt any plants on mars.. just dust and ice

  • I like how at 00:44 the aliens hand blends in with the kids shirt.

  • We don't have all the facts about the aliens. Maybe they were in desperation and came even knowing that water was toxic to them, maybe they have some strange religious beliefs about the use of technology, maybe it was a right of passage, maybe they were just conducting a raid and moving on, maybe they have some other bizarre reasons behind it all. The point is we don't know everything, so there is always hope. It also made the aliens seem *truly* incomprehensible and strange in their psychology.

  • It's wonderful to see how all these different events and factors come together like a tapestry, what his wife says to him, the water, the bat, the asthma (for which he had just cursed God the night before). Shyamalan really opens it up and gives us that sense of unfolding events. And the symbolism of the water pouring down references to baptism and the rebirth of faith. It's an astounding film.

  • Okay, look all i'm seeing posted here are "why would they want to invade a planet that's %70 water if thats what kills them!?"

Look guys, how can they know, instantly what kills them on every planet? To everyone that's posted that, i'd like you to tell me every kind of plant, germ, dust or airborne-allergen on Mars that could be potentially deadly to humans. You can't can you? Exactly.

  • well the lack of oxagen would kill us instantly but yeah this dude has a point.. besides they took "us" most likely want to study why we arnt effected by water

  • OMG This part?! Freaky! I didnt know it was this part!

  • "i liked the movie but it made little sense for aliens to be interested in a planet that is made up predominantly of water, which happens to be deadly to them."

Unless they were starving or doing some kind of coming-of-age ritual (the aliens could have been adolescents)

  • If there adolescents wheres its zits? :) jk

  • "I wonder why the alien didn't fight back"

It's injured and scared--the aliens that came made so much noise etc. because they were just as scared of us as we were of them.

Also, you try fighting back when some bastards clouting you with a baseball bat :)

  • can someone please please please tell me what the song is called that plays from 4:36 to around 5:30? thanks a lot!

  • "Hand of fate - Part I" and "Hand of fate - Part II". (Music by James Newton Howard)

  • water huh? What bs.

  • No problem with the big green ALIEN though? It's a movie, a damn good one.

  • My favorite movie. Everything happens for a rason
