  • Its good, but the hard line to define the upper lip was a rookie mistake.

  • Awesome...I like it...:)

    Thank you mr.

  • Really cool stuff, man.

  • poor poor boy!

  • poor poor boy!

  • How can he not have used a rubber once. Just once? Wow, hahaa. (:

  • Allright, i watched the Video closely, read ALL the comments and I liked the video.I hope now im allowed to ask what pencil he is using?

  • Greetings Lon, I am a beginner at sketing and drawing and I truly enjoyed watching you. You are an inspiration and I have learned a lot. Thank you for sharing your wonderful skill. Sincerely, Tempie...Albert and Tempie

  • @Skipachoy he's checking to see if it's the right shade of pencil to see if it's to dark or to light.

  • It's really good!!

  • Very good! I prefer to draw as I sculpt. I see a portrait drawings as a clay portrait. I want to show the form, rather than make a photo. That's what I don't like- making photo-like drawings. Form is everyhting!

  • its a charcoal.

  • Is that a pencil?

  • what pencil are you using?

  • would you advice that for a starter like me to keep time limits in my work! you i've seen most of your vids have a time limit of 6 mins for yourself to complete your work.

  • nice man! you keep a time limit for yourself!

  • The model's nose is longer and narrower.

  • Just awesome. Your comments are even more helpful than the drawing itself!

  • i love the definition on the eyes im not homosexual but they look cute lmao! great job i admire ppl like you

  • ma che schifo.. non ti vergogni di pubblicare queste merde? non sai disegnare!

  • I love how you make this fun. All the kids lined up, it's great! You're work is awesome. I've actually improved by being impatient! Thanks!

  • Great video :)

  • mir

  • @ Lon, yes, some people do take a long time to complete a drawing. I'm one of them. But artists who are like myself aren't after making a bunch of drawings, we're not just after a result. We're after the enjoyment the activity. While someone like myself may not draw as many pictures as the next guy, I'm truly happy with the pieces I do create and I enjoy the process of getting there. Not to say you aren't. But hey, same reason I'm self taught. I want the experience, not just the result. :)

  • That kid is ugly LOL i mean the buck teeth and the EARS!!! :)

  • @KazzyEss2k9

    you're a moron...

  • very beautiful.

  • I love how he's just talking. It's just like, "yeah, I have time pressure, but you know, whatever."

  • great portrait from a great artist. Thanks for sharing. I have one question: what type of pencil you were using? thanks again

  • Nice This Guy is good 2 get all of this expression on paper in 7 minutes. Im the type that goes for mirror image in portraits but i can only imagine now good one of his pictures look that he actually took time on

  • who cares if it doesnt look like the subject! if making something look exactly like the subject you are drawing makes you an artist then, you have a misunderstanding of art. art is an expression. everyone is different. keep up the great work lon and ignore these so-called experts of art with their negative comments. i like your style cause it defines you and makes you who you are as an artist.

  • how can you people stand in judgment of this?

Even if you are a better artist, your negative comments say more about you than his work.

  • that doesnt look like his nose.

  • for me ur a freeking gooooooood artist for 7 min man is vgood.. u should see the real portriats then the fast ones

  • this was very goood, the kids face was cought and the expression too....very imressive

  • Comment removed

  • its quiet abit more like a characteur or a more perfect version of the boy but still excellent

  • beautiful but a lil bit distrort!

  • wow... if that was in 7 mins, imagin that in an hr plus by talking u kinda loose focus so he woulda done much better if he wasn't talking O.O oh and i'm 1 of those who take months for 1 portrait lol : P

  • What is that pen you are using?

  • Comment removed

  • when i draw portraits i sometimes get confused on the hair but you are a pro

  • i usually take 7 hours -.-

  • you are AMAMAZING

  • He's probably about 10 or 11 I figure.

  • the eyes and the noouth and the mouse are going awy to the right down of the pic

    but good

  • It's because children are extremely difficult todraw since they don't sit still. But doing it in 7 minutes is a feat.

  • My drawing usually take 3 hours :-).

But I'm only drawing since this march and I never had any lessons. So I try to draw portraits as good as I can and I hope I learn something about proportions, shapes and all that stuff:).

  • Hey, how much progress have you made since you posted this comment? It takes me about 3 hours to do a simple portrait. I've just started.

  • Most protraits I do still take about 2 or 3 hours but they are much more detailed.

I think I can do a rough sketch like this in about 30 minutes.

I mostly draw pictures as realistic as I can:)

  • Interesting, thanks for the reply! Glad you've made progress.

  • it's very beautiful,this portrait!!!

  • Wow, you are an inspiration to me to be able to draw that quickly and accurately from life. I feel like a younger version of you in allot of ways. You share similar thought processes as me when drawing and my father also educated me while growing up how to draw portraits. Thank you, for speaking my mind and showing me this can be achieved with dedication and passion I believe I have too.

  • THat's wonderful! So glad you could benefit in some affirming way. Just ask God to make the way for you and your gifts. He is faithful.

  • thanks for inspiring me.

i have wanted to be a portrait artist for some time now, and it's nice to be able to get solid, no nonsense instruction, and allows me to discover my own style, too!

  • i think the secret is: first follow the principal shapes and angules from around the model, make the subcontructions shapes, be carfull whit the proportion, let it for the last the details.

    be pacient.

  • I agree.

  • How old is this kid?

  • GOOD LINES! That is the secret. If your lines are good your drawing will be good. If your lines are correct, your drawing will be correct. If they are weak, your drawing will be weak. Each line must have good expression. That is the secret to a good portrait. See my exercise sheet on my web site forum, the Virtual Drawing Institute. You can download it, print it, and use it to improve your skill.

  • excelent!!!!!!!!!! what is the secret of a good portrait? the canon of the head? thanks for the video .
