figured this would be a nice place to ask for some info. I am thinking of getting into air rifle competition or shooting. after talking with a local store i was recommended the Crossman CS2000 it felt nice but after reviews i seen some inconsistency in it's performance. any thoughts or recommendations?
@freakboy1099 I personally have not seen the rifle you have described..even googled searched to no avail. I'm guessing the name might be different. I do know depend on what type of shooting you want suites the rifle for the job. Most people use higher powered 10m rifles for silhouette shooting and such. I just video taped them because it was fun to share airgunning though I do not compete in airgun competition myself.
@varmintgetter Thank you for the reply after looking up what the site said other then what my local store had on the crosman site CH2009S and CH2009. I use to compete in small bore rifle and enjoy shooting my ar-15 and other rifle's. Though due to prices now i can't really shoot as much as i would want hence me wanting to take up air rifle. I heard good and bad about this rifle so i am not sure if you might know if it is a good investment
@freakboy1099 I have a crosman CS2000 and I like it very much. Keep in mind mine is the older version, powered by CO2, and for the price it's good performer. My only problem is that the dimensions are for youth or smaller shooters and I have to conform my stance quite a bit. Any other questions about the gun?
@Mrtaterbrown Thank you to the reply. one of my concerns is how my length of pull is around 14 inches i believe i just measured from my elbow to the 2nd digit of my index finger came out to 14.5. I also heard some problems about the bolt not locking up all the way over time. I was debating between going "beginning" with the Crosman Cs2000 or Cs2009. or save and go for a feinwerkbau 700 basic. But being new to competition of air rifle i am getting to learn all the things that make it different
Best demonstration of safety and form I have seen yet on youtube or the net for that matter five stars good sir keep the video coming, I also have a couple of questions, what ranges were you shooting at and what kind of targets were they ? and two more questions what cal and is the Maccari R9 a type of Beeman or just a whole different type of rifle ?
james maccari was and still is one of the best at tuning airguns. unfortuneately he tunes no more. actually he may still tune but as far as i know he hasn't taken on any new clients in a few years
i wanted to send my TX to him but i never did. plus i didn't want to be without out for months not knowing when it would come home. at the time i tried to shoot it as often as i could. it's been a closet queen for a few years now.
of all the spring guns...the TX is the easiest to tune by a novice. Why? no spring compressor is required. Mine shoots so well stock that it was going to be a waste if tuned. Tuning for me won't make it more accurate than stock because it was already a tack driver.
true but a tuned TX is smoother and quieter.and if you are lucky enough to get JM to do it you know he machines everything custom. no more twang. my TX is dead on too. but i don't have your form, sir. i almost bought a gold finger to send to him either that or i was going to send my TX and send the R9 at a later date. now its too late. i could always send it off to that guy down south, i can't remember his name right now though. im sure you know who im talking about

@varmintgetter I would assume distance i plan on shooting could play another factor. I will probably be shooting the rifle from 50-75 yards

Great way to keep in practice with the price of ammo going through the roof.

Thanks! I was pretty specifice to let them know about the safety issues..and they did it spot on.
Air Rifle Silh is the Standard NRA spec and rules you can look up. So just Google NRA Air Rifle Silhouette and you'll get the answer.
The Caliber is .20 using JSB pellets and the R9 is a Beeman R9 that has been tuned to shoot more consistent and smoother.
