  • What confuses me in this case is... are people being encouraged to stop buying free range because it is a scam? As hellish as this is it is so much better than the cage way. Personally I advocate keeping your own hens if you need eggs that badly. I hate eggs but my hen makes 6-7 eggs a week, eats grass in the sunshine and freedom outside and roosts in my dining room at night for her safety. It costs so little to keep her and her buddy happy and healthy.

  • Fucking rednecks shouldn't be allowed to keep animals. That's not a farm he is running, its a disease-ridden shithole where he is slowly killing these birds off and is being treated like he is doing the world a favour by receiving this meaningless certificate from the meaningless RSPCA. Just seeing how people like this can see the suffering in the animals that he is meant to protect and yet do nothing makes me lose faith in humanity and makes me want to go out and smack a mothercucker in theface

  • New plan for a Minecraft Chicken farm, thanks :D

  • FK MEAT LOVE VEGETARIANS

  • The conditions of these chickens is deplorable. But, the industry is not the only ones to blame. How much are you willing to pay for your eggs? $1? $2? $5 a dozen? I own a small flock (about 20 birds) & I do it for eggs, meat and recreation. My flock is out every day and locked in a coop at night (for safety from preditors), I sell my eggs for $2 a dozen, but if I were to sell them for profit it would be over $5 a dozen. Raise your own, you will be doing yourself and the chickens a favor.

  • And this is exactly why I'm a vegetarian. No respect for animals.

  • @justinbieberluvr2396 who cares?? my food shits on your food

  • @ParraKoopa Sit on it and rotate.

  • Looks like the workers at that farm are a bunch of lazy asses.

  • feel lucky we are human but either then... some humans have it the same as these chickens....

  • They only check them out every year? I think that isn't good enough!

  • I guess it makes sense to have your own birds or if not practical buy from somewhere where you can see the conditions the birds live in.

Nice to see the RSPCA fudging for an explanation for once.

  • Do you know what they do to those chickens?

    No, but it's delicious.

  • poor wittle chickens :( Im never going to KFC again

  • poor chickens man:) I am not a vegan but this video makes me feel terrible for the chickens this is very unnatural to keep them like that. I am no hippy eigther i hate vegans and hippies. Seriously though poor chickens is one thing we all can agree on.

  • I wonder what Peter Baxondale-Thomas of the Norfolk Farmers Union would have to say about this.

  • rspca is just another business posing as charity

  • you can tell how a person is by the way they take care of their animals. at least let them out for a while damn that's got to be hell on them.

  • I need help! my homeowners association wont allow hens. I have always wanted to do this and the city says its ok. Does anyone know a way past the homeowners association!

  • disgusting

  • dude this is fuckin gross can't they spend at least another grand just to make another small barn or something?

its a good thing i fuckin fry the eggs i eat

  • Well, this isn't EVERY farm claiming to be free range, so stop assuming that guys :P

But, if you REALLY want to know where your eggs are from, get some chickens for yourself. The eggs are a lot better, taste SO much nicer, and at least you know where they are from. You also get the benefit of additions to the family, chickens make amazing pets.

  • I am a producer, I am sick and tired of busy bodies coming to my farm and picking holes. I try my best.

An old bird will loose feathers -FACT.

Most vets that i deal with are tossers anyway.

    Lots of love

    ME

  • go vegan and kill a rain forest??

  • @danni3050 WtF are you talking about?

  • Please do not support animal factories like that. Please don't even RISK supporting them.

    Go vegan.

  • i ahve semi free range chickens 8 to be exact. they live in a cute little red and bage coop. we also decorate it on christmas too! they are really friendly and show them at my fair and they one grandchampion too! they have a run connected to there coop and a larger run that we take them out to and give them dinner scarps. we would et the free range accept for the large amount of hawks we ahve and we love them o much to let them get hurt. so we let them walk around the yard while we watch them!

  • So sad. We've rehomed some ex-bats and they reward us in so many ways... They are entertaining, all have their own personalities and we get fresh eggs every day from hens now fed on an organic diet and who are well looked after.

  • ooolala Naked Chicks loool

  • Well this is just one farm out of many farms in america we can't tell if all farms are like this

  • hahaha I don't eat meat but I looooooove eating pussy =]

that one is for the manly guys who eat meat of animals that somebody else killed.....

  • I like how that lady responds with they typical "I don't know" answer. BS

  • P.O.S people

  • barbaric!#

  • The cage-free egg industry is a scam! These images are disgusting.

  • A great expose. We need more of this. I can't imagine any meat eater wanting to be associated with dirty, scummy, cheap food. And who likes being lied to like this. The truth is this... If you eat meat in the UK or USA there's a 99% chance it's factory farmed and the conditions are as bad or worse than the farm in this video. Secondly, the reason this farm kept its certificate is that it IS a LOT better than most "farms". Imagine if I sold you a fake watch or a fake shirt at full price.

  • i am so pissed off, the amount of extra money i spend getting free- range and organic produce thinking im making a differnce and look at it... i might as well get the battery farmed eggs, least theyre kept in semi-decent conditions compared to this...

  • this is horrible...poor chickens :(

  • altough im not a vegan pussy, i have my own littile farm in my garden, the animals have a big place to run and play, but when i sloughter the animal, i do these steps:

1.never show the knife to the animal.

    2. never sloughter infront of other animal.

3.give plenty of water and comfort before killing.

  • youre a good person, but calling vegans pussies isnt the best way to promote your cause... Theres nothing innately brave or macho about eating meat anyway, most people dont kill it or rear it themselves. You are just part of the (moral) minority

  • , thanx for the kind comment :)

  • @DeepRedBlue

theres nothing good about macho culture

its a bane on western society

being a homophobic wanker has nothing to do with being a man

  • @DeepRedBlue Dont let them call you a pussy my vegan friend! Adolf Hitler also was of your elk ...That aught to scare the b-Jesus out of us carcass munchers... Just sayin:-)

    Dncha Think!

  • @abdulbade Glad you take these issues seriously. Since you brought it up, I just want to let you know that its a fact that Vegans get way more pussy than meat eaters. Vegans are healthier, show more resolve and are more considered of their choices. They can make a good call between short term satisfaction of the senses and long term sustainability... hence they make better lover too (according to several studies). It turns out that masculinity has little to do with how well you can kill a bird.

  • It pisses me off that they just discard the male chicks. If you eat an abundance of all-female animals you could get too much estrogen in your body. I wanna eat the roosters too!!

  • I called a local organic egg producer to ask if they discard male hatched chicks and they replied "yes, of course.' I don't buy eggs anymore.

  • Wow, wtf....

  • Shows that the farmer is only part to blame. The so called "Inspectors" are to blame the most for they allow this.

This is what you get for extorted tax dollars and government involvement in our lives.

  • unbelievably true :(

  • i think its wrong but i wont become Vegan

There's gotta be a better way

  • Just be aware of what you're eating. These days it is quite difficult. You're better off eating a Vegan diet unless you literally have seen with your own eyes where your milk and eggs come from and are satisfied with that.

  • You are so right, they should roam the streets and do what they want. Why don't you let them live with you. Maybe they should go before a judge before they are killed.

  • yes there is! it's called raising your own meat and eggs.

  • One of many, many, many reasons I'm glad to be vegan.

  • There is no difference between battery and free-range egg facilities. They all exploit animals. Go Vegan!

  • Obviously, this isn't a free range farm lol.

But most of the "organic" stuff really isn't organic anyway. So either way, you're paying more for the same stuff. That's why I dont really care about things that are labeled "free range" or "organic" and just go for the cheaper food. Especially in this ressession.

  • Calling that free range..buahaha..o_o..it's so crowded in there, and there are dead chickens and sick ones too..they look unhealthy :/. SHAME ON THEM!

  • Just goes to show how much the meat/dairy industry are willing to lie to customers in order to make a profit.

And how can you be an animal lover when you eat meat and refer to them as things?

  • Damn I spend like 5 or 6 bucks a dozen here in the US to avoid treatment of chickens like this. I am trying to think of the chickens...

  • dam dude, i feel sorry for these things. ok i do eat them but im an animal lover wether they are in my food chain or not.

this isnt a life for a chicken

  • ( () )

  • It is an EGG producing GHETTO

  • People, animals are being tortured and we're being scammed all the time - check out the supposed "freshly squeezed" Orange Juices which are kept in vats for over a year sometime, and then mixed with stuff to make it taste "freshly squeezed" - Tropican, for example! I know OJ doesn't suffer but just another example of how we're constantly scammed. They don't care about us, animals or anything but profit and our governments don't give a crap. Get educated and get active, if you really care.

  • Really sad and really true :(

  • cuantras abra en un metro cuadrado

  • Thank you so much for this exposure

  • I'll never trust the Freedom Food Logo again. I've got some rescued hens. It took five six weeks for them to fully get well and gain their feathers and they are a delight to own. I love'm to bits.

  • wot sort of people can let this happen? we are all to blame , if we just stand and watch.

  • please visit my city you can make one too check it out blaze-weed.myminicity. com

  • If your worried about this kinda stuff i have only one piece of advice. Get yourself some hens! they take little work to keep and feed is pretty cheap. I dont care how small ur garden is. Its more room than they a have in factorys.

Trust me, if you have not had an egg that was laid by happy hens, you have no idea what eggs really taste like.

  • thank you for this. after i read this i went out and bought three hens.

  • Totally agree with you... I've got 11 hens.. and each one is loved!... (ppl need to stop being so lazy, picking em of the shelevs in shops)... its much more fun to find eggs in nest boxes or round the garden xxx

  • Okay, going on what people have said about not all farms being like that, I'm willing to bet that a lot are like this, even if every single farm isn't like that. BUT.....why risk getting eggs from a place like this?

You never know FOR SURE where your eggs have come from unless you've been to the farm yourself and seen EVERY single thing that they do to those chickens.

I don't mean to offend a large bunch of you but some people are ignorant as hell just cause they want eggs.

  • @Twigglet13

well put. people ignore cruelty for cheap eggs.

    can't they taste the suffering.?

its folks like you and me twigglet13 they must explaine to the ignorant the sufferings that go on everyday.

keep up the good fight. speak softly. thank you.

  • well, the RSPCA is a charity, i.e they depend on public donations.

If they haven't got the proper resources to confirm their freedom food label its because the general public doesn't care enough to donate enough money to the charity.

Also if the government is profiting from this somehow, then they are also not helping.

But i guess it does undermine charity labels of compliance: they just dont' have the money to make them work maybe.

  • Sigh, I wish American TV did more indepth news reporting like this instead of shoving Tysons meat product commercials down my throat. Gah. I don't think all free range farms operate like this, it's foolish to assume so just based on this one news report of one farm. Delve deeper.

  • pity

  • Chickens Chicken!

  • looks like a damn concentration camp

  • The RSPCA are useless, if they didn't pay their inspecters more than the regular police may be they'd not put so many animals in their care to sleep.

  • I can't eat eggs in good concious now. I need to know if the hens are properly kept. The rule is, if you don't want that situation to be applied to you, you don't want it on another living creature.

  • Fucking right, I agree with you! :)

  • Where is the credability of the RSPCA, issuing a certificate, stamp FREEDOM food, to this farm when the standards of operation are derelict. Come RSPCA, WAKE UP, inforce your policies.

  • OMG i cired.. poor animals....

  • This is why I have my own chickens for eggs and meat. My hens are fat and happy and eat like queens they give us large delicous eggs every day. I raise my own broilers, they only live for 7 weeks, but they eat well live in a clean environment and they also are fat and happy. The cruelty of these farms makes me sick!

  • nice dude, just a qeustion for me corusework, is there a taste difference between free range eggs and eggs that come from Closed up farms like the ones in this video?

  • I couldn't taste a difference really... but the point isn't about the taste, it's about not treating the animals like they do in this video.

  • These birds are sick and depressed. Therefore, the chemicals of their suffering will be transferred into their eggs. And we eat those eggs!

They deserve to be free and happy so if we eat their eggs at least it would be healthy eggs!

  • birds kept in cages are in better condition than them

  • what a complete lie. like you've even seen birds in cages.

  • i have in person ASSHOLE and the ones in the farms where i live are treated well

  • Please. Slaveholders said they "treated well" their slaves, but regardless of the truth of that statement, sentient beings should not be slaves.

  • And actually, the farms where you live aren't most farms. Get over yourself. You think that because you saw one chicken treated well you can just go and claim that 95% of the chickens in the world are treated better than this?

  • well considering there are about 200 commercial farms and about 20 free range bird farms i think i can say that they are treated well the law where we live is that birds must be cage free this goes for the whole province

  • This is not REAL FREE RANGE.....

  • true too true

  • Skeptic check here... this would not be the common free range egg barn.. look i dont buy free range anything unless i know its free range. I dont get free range regularly because i go to farms to buy my special produce.

But dont tar all producers with one report.

Its not fair to your economy. Instead, pay the extra 5 cents an egg to set up a reporting authority that has enough staff to carry out the QC that you, the consumers, deserve.

Become active with a role, not active with a slogan.

  • FUCK EGGZ... WHY A VIDEO FOR DAT ??????

  • To show how food is kept its kinda obvious if you wasn't dumb you would be able to tell why.

  • yeah fuck eggz. and the egg that created you

  • why do people always gotta cheat!

  • That's why modern caged layer operations are better for the birds and the quality of the eggs produced. Free-range is something that city people think sounds more wholesome.

  • "Free-range is something that city people think sounds more wholesome."

    Exactly.

"That's why modern caged layer operations are better for the birds and the quality of the eggs produced."

Caged hens live in virtually the exact same conditions as free-range. You can't have 700million hens on one farm and expect them to be free range. This is about profit, not love.

Stop eating eggs; there's no other way to stop this madness. Go vegan. Be strong. Love.

  • Great response, Aprinsa!

    Go vegan!

  • how about owning your own chicken? that would mean the person knows what happens

  • I would find that arguable, except that animals should not be the property of humans anymore than baby humans should. They can never be seriously protected in a consumerist world without have the right to be free.

  • this is just plain wrong, no animal deserves this kind of treatment. its okay to eat chicken but not like this!

  • It's not okay to eat chicken.

  • There is nothing wrong with eating chicken, but this is just nasty. This is animal abuse. They should be arrested! Nothing deserves this kind of treatment.

  • WTF fuck freedom food if that spokeswoman's candor is that nonchalant and she specifically states that she doesn't know if the farmer is culpable? fuck freedom food... what a joke.

  • Q: How can "freedom food" be free if it involves the slavery of animals for human ends? Animals cannot BE "freedom food" unless they died naturally and lived free lives.

  • why chickens why!

  • i am veggie and have chickens. I only eat eggs from them.

  • Poor chickens :(

  • Ok, this settles it. I'm getting my own flock. No more store bought eggs for me!

  • I was going to get a chicken- THEN MY CAT WAS BORN.

  • This made me really hungry. I love chicken and eggs...the other day I ate chicken feet in S Korea.

    Keep eating chicken.

Vegans are weird and don't wash properly.

  • By saying that this makes you hungry, you make yourself sound mentally disturbed. Just so you know.

  • go vegan! you vote everyday! when you eat eggs this is what you are voting for.

  • i het layakdat ok

  • no more eggs for me. i'm so stupid-thought free range organic meant healthy birds running around in the sun clawing at dirt and napping...(sigh)

  • Even if you dont eat them, these hens will still stuffer.

  • i totally agree dont give up eggs

    protest

mi freind has chickens and they are really kewl

  • Simple answer. Only buy eggs from a local farmer. If you buy two weeks worth of eggs ,you can keep them in the refridgerator. Visit the farm, if you have kids they'll love it, and can see the hens having fun eating grass and worms. Sounds like a great couple of hours to me. B-)

  • Sikorski. I agree, in fact I would go further and say that we should buy All our produce from Local farmers. I buy from a local butcher and know where he gets the meat and eggs (and how the animals are treated). It costs me approx £5 a month extra but the Taste is a World away from cheap supermarket produce. Chickens have Flavour, Beef joints are So Tender (sorry, I'm drooling :D). The same with Veg. Local Farmer, beautiful tastes, "organic". Most Supermarket meat is full of Water and Salt!

  • im a chickenfarmer and i love chickens wut bastards wud mistreat chickens like that let ur chickens out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11

  • bah, poor birds, blatant disreguard for life what can you expect, even the RSPCA woman didn't seem to give a shit, ah well, guess they will give a shit when we run out of meat, and everyone crying because all there is are vegetables.

  • fuck off dick head

  • ur a fuckr too. go to fuckin hell. go die bastard.

  • eat my stool you pussy.

  • sounds like the RSPCA isn't any better than the SPCA in Canada, pulling on peoples heartstrings for money and volunteer labor and doing nothing for animals.

  • What the Hell are the R.S.P.C.A doing about it..I will not donate any money to them any more. Its a disgrace that their logo is on those egg boxes.

  • who cares they dont have souls and just as long as when i wake up and my eggs and toast are there preferably sunny side up im happy

  • rofl i eat the chicken while it sstill alive

  • So would you be happy if i was holding a chicken in arms saying"Who wants some yumyum?!?!"

  • ooh so you ARE bringing desert over....i have a whole new respect for you

  • chickens are awesome they r smart i can make mine do tricks

  • You sound like a real loving careing sort of person. Just the type of people Hitler liked to have around him..

  • Why are they not shut down? It's completely clear that they have failed on every point as stated "Free Range Eggs". Something is wrong with the governing regulators (kick backs?). We need the address of this operation, the City, County and State regulators so we can email them.

  • You will never get one because activists use incredibly old footage to fool people into believing this rubbish is reality.

  • I am fucking furious to hear this1 ):-( Why the hell aren't these birds being looked after? The people in control of them just don't give a shit and they should be fired.

  • and the roosters aka (cocks) look just like there involved with cock fights but...they arn't

  • well....its true.....there is no such thing as free range chicken....theres never been :\ there in cage most of there lifes

  • "there is no such thing as free range chicken....there never has been" There USED to be, when chickens were farmed in every way that the term applies. They were allowed constant outdoor access, fed properly, and killed humanely. The reason why it's changed is for money, and as a result we have fat, miserable birds making fat people. Animal cruelty is against the law, but for some reason it's allowed if it makes a packet of cash.

  • not to be ofencive but there are still a few home oned farms where the birds are out all day and only closed in at night so predotors don't get them.

But I get your point all huge farms are not free range.

  • Thank you for posting this. So many people think they know what goes on, and they think it's just with non free range chicken coops. They say "But I buy my eggs free range." Almost 100% of them are absolutely shocked when I tell or show them what really happens. Those poor, poor animals.

  • yeah. but you still eat them eh. Hmmm
