Cool theme to a very sick film, but what made me more sick was when i found out one of the dead bodies they used for the film for an autopsy was for real. This was basically almost on the same level as Men Behind The Sun.
@Johnlindsey289 Actually, that's just a myth about real bodies being used in Beyond the Darkness. The actress who played the subject of the autopsy was Cinzia Monreale, who played the blind girl 'Emily' in Lucio Fulci's The Beyond after Beyond the Darkness was filmed. She's still alive and well.
Have you seen Men Behind The Sun? really fucked up 88 Hong Kong import about the horrors of unit731 in China of Japanese torturing Chinese and Russian people near the end of WWII. Horrifying scenes of torture including a man dying naked in a decompression room to all the way to a scene where it uses actual footage of a dead corpse getting an autopsy intercut in the film. Who's screwed up to make such a film and use real autopsy footage for a scene?
After hearing this song, I want to see this movie. Is it just me, or do all of these controversal movies from this time/era always have the best soundtracks to them? :D
Being 17 and starting getting into the retro horror film universe since I was 13 I can easily say this is one of the best horror films I've ever seen. Although the last minute of the film made me jump 10 feet into the air.
If you are into the shocking, violent emotions, this movie is for you. (Taken from the original trailer). I'm paraphrasing,so if any factcheckers are reading this...please be kind. LOL.
@AlkoTanko I'd say Beyond the Darkness was more twisted than Anthro, as it deals with the love story between a necrophile taxidermist and his dead girlfriend. Of course, Anthro does feature a very twisted scene featuring the devouring of a live human foetus by a cannibalistic killer.Happy viewing! :D
Very sick flick but a classic among Italian gore movies along with stuff like Zombi 2, City of the Living Dead, Burial Ground, Anthropophagus, Contamination, Cannibal Ferox, Zombie Holocaust, etc.Great Goblin score too!
@Johnlindsey289 I've not seen A Serbian Film, but I have seen Nekro and I didn't think much of it tbh.I personally prefer Italian & American gore flicks from the 70's & 80's to the more modern-day horror movies.I also like classic horrors (Universal, Hammer, Amicus, AIP, etc).
I hear Serbian Film is the sickest film in recent memory but i refuse to see that disgusting filth after all the horrifying things i've heard including a scene where a newborn baby gets raped, OMG! Seen Ichi The Killer or Martyrs? excellent foreign horror films of recent.
@Johnlindsey289 I've seen Martyrs and thought it was ok.I quite like some of the recent French horrors with my faves being Haute Tension & Inside.I've got Frontier(s) as well but haven't got round to watching it yet.
Ichi The Killer is an awesome Japanese horror action film and the Japanese know how to make good horror films. And the best European horror movie in recent memory is Let The Right One in.
@WaPow13 Cool boy! If you are really interested in old but damn good italian horror flicks, try watching Mario Bava´s workas as "Black Sunday", "The twitch of the dead nerve", "Black Sabbath", "Planet of the vampires".
@Gridseeker Spoken like someone who knows. I was lucky enough to see most of the 70's italian horror jawns in the theatres of Center City Philadelphia as a youth. I remember seeing a triple bill of The Evil Dead,House By The Cemetary and L'Adila at the former Goldman theatre(now a Starsucks franchise)all for the low cost of $3.50. Good times.
@EvilOstrich Hello again. Another movie moment. June 1980. A heatwave as bad as the one we're experiencing now and i had a bad cold. My brother took me to see a triple bill of Friday The 13th,Chinese Connection and Don't Answer The Phone. This was at the Capitol theatre in W.Philly. The air-conditioner was broken(AGAIN!),the air was filled with the smells of stale popcorn, malt liquor, armpits and urine. The doors were open and people were outside watching the movies for free.
I watched this movie when i was 13 and nearly cried b/c it was so fuckin graphic, but still an excellent piece of cinema(new account, old 1 got deleted)
if u see the movie u will be a fan for life. this movie is one of a kind. theres no better horror movie then this. ok its my opinion maybe there are better movies but i love this.
Could this movie be about infidelity? A metaphor for an unfaithful wife and devoted husband.
