usb external harddrives will only work if you format them to FAT32 in order to format the hole 500gb you need to download a program that will do this for you.. then your xbox will see the external hdd and then you can start to use it on the xbox :)

(and in this case the guy is using a laptop wich always has the wireless option) have ur pc connection to the internet... same network ofcourse and just use the Media center like sobhi66 said... saves money...

but then again u dont need to use the Media center... seeing it can be really slow.. instead just go to your files on ur xbox and select the pc... music movies.. etc

Look I own a PS3 & I like it better than this, but I find that I paid so much more for stuff that I don't use. I hardly web browse on it, I've never used blu-ray, only 1080p movies, but in terms of games, I love it 2 death, the controller hasn't got millions of buttons like the xbox & I don't have a fat arse power brick

yeah you can! you get a FREE netflix cd in the mail. i prefer cd over downloading it because my wifi in my house is so slow by the time it downloaded the disc would be there. also you can just use the web browser to go to watchmovies(dot)net lol i own a ps3 so i think i would know

I own a PS3 too. And Netflix is a paid service even though they may have free trials available. And as far as the watchmoviesdotnet thing goes you may have gotten it confused with movie-linksdottv and if your Wi-fi connection is that bad then you would have to endure horrible buffering speeds. I prefer to download my stuff, you prefer to pay whatever.

You could get a Terabyte hard drive for about 90 bucks now, you'd need a desktop computer that can fit it. And then just route it through your network to your xbox....thats what i do. And please stop referring to Hard Drive space as "memory." At least the part of hard drives you're trying to describe...it isn't memory.

I have the exact same external hard drive although mine is 1TB, however I am unable to connect it the same way you are. Did you fail to mention whether you reformatted yours from NFTS to FAT32 or is yours an older version.

Right click you external and go to format and check to see as I would really like to do this myself to save space on my computer so I don't have to stream.

Its best to get either 60 gig or 120 gig. Every hard drive has 7 gigs that cant be used because its being used by your system. So that means 20 gigs is only 13 gigs. Arcade games average around a little over half a gig. Full XBOX Originals. average around 1.5 - 2 Gigs
