This version is awesome. While the song itself is quite haunting, the distortion from slowing down the song just hints at the idea that, while it IS dark, something is just WRONG. It's perfect for the series.

I'm almost disappointed they fixed the error of the music being played slow in Episode 1.

I thought a slowed down, almost distorted, version of Magia was appropriate for that scene.

@Korraganitar The slowed down BGM was most likely an error. They probably made a mistake during distributing/editing, which caused all the BGM in Episode 1 to be played slower in the original MBS broadcast. When the episode was broadcasted on Nico Nico Douga, AT-X, and on Blu-Ray, they fixed it and the music played at normal speed throughout the whole episode. If it wasn't an error, I don't see why they would have changed it.

It's quite common for drawings to be messed up, but I've never heard of people fucking up the entire soundtrack of an episode. I'm not even sure how that would work, it's not like all the sounds are stretched, it's just the bgm.

@narutofan9999 Hm, you have a point. I don't know how they would've done it either, I'm not very knowledgeable on the subject. However, multiple sources have all said that it was an error, so unless something comes up that proves otherwise I'm going to continue to think of it as such.

from what I have read, it has something to do with the recording rate. Most likely, the music was recorded at 48kHz, one of the common recording rates for studios. but when the music was being applied to the show, it was done at 44.1kHz, which is what most CDs use.

Remember, usualy the music is applied first so there is a dialogueless track with music and SFX.

I think people are saying there was a sampling error when they put the music masters into the episodes, because the later releases (webcasts, later reruns and home release) were corrected.
