Man, you can really make that ice-scraper sing!!! I'm going out to the car and see if I can get mine to do that. Let's see... wax paper, rubber bands, this thing from the orthodontist, the cord off an old, broken fan... I'm ready to rock!!! ;-)
~Jon ....If i am in the mood to feel something and just dance....(((.I put your music on)))..........thanks for posting your jams on the Tube.....renee
man this is a hugely different version than the instrumental version William Clarke did back when. very exciting stuff here!
my first heavy challenge was emulating Clarke's work on that song. i think my next will be to emulate you on this version John! beautiful raw and sweet!
Jon you are awsome. You play and teach the style of harp I want to learn. I just got your Rock n Blues Harmonica book and CD. The only problem is I just cant seem to close the book or take the CD out of the player. Incredible. I look forward to learning more from you and your Instructionals. Maybe some day I will be lucky enough to attend one of your jam camps.
I remember Paul Jones (of Manfred Mann) playing this on the BBC a few weeks ago and saying that it had overblowing in it (which he didn;t play) - is that true?
Hey everybody, you can watch and play along with exclusive video lessons of the music I put up here in my Blues Harp Instruction Video Harp Club. For instance "Work Song" is tabbed and taught. I play it slow, and fast, play guitar for you, and give you tips in a 15 minute video lesson. Hours of
video instruction. More videos every week. Gindick dot com
Hey John. I haven't tuned in for a while. This is superb. Putting it in third position really rocks. I heard the Butterfield version and it is a stunner but this has more soul and more of the rootsy feel the song wants. I am in awe that you can put out that kind of harp performance with the harp in a rack!
Yeah, get rock and blues harmonica. It's among the best and most complete book, from the story about how music was discovered by two early iced tea drinkers to a lot of hard to find info. The CD is very helpful, but we'd like a 3 hour CD!
My 11 year old loves Cannonball Adderly and just mastered Work Song on the sax. He just finished watching your video and when I could get him to stop dancing around, he asked if he could have a harmonica for Christmas! Nice job man!
Get him my book and cd rock n'blues harmonica at my website and a speciaL 20 c harp. He would also enjoy a smokey amp and bottle of blues mic. Gindick com is my site.
One of the coolest dudes on youtube, Mr John "cool" Gindick....(clap, clap, clap).

no, not necessary to overblow on this song in 3rd or even 2nd position.

I believe "infectious" is the best word I can use to describe the rythm, since the word "catchy" just doesn't seem to do it proper justice.
Always a treat!
