Why did the Reformers (and Protestants today) think they can interpret the bible? They didn't write it, the Catholic Church did (NT). Early Church Fathers wrote it, and Council of Carthage 397 the Canon was decided on and forwarded to the Supreme Pontiff for finality. SO: if the one, true, Catholic Church wrote the bible, only she guards it, cherishes it, and interprets it. If "anyone" can interpret it, then "anyone" can start their own religion. Oh wait, their ARE 30,000 Prot. religions today
@FFFFbody Suposing that its true that the Catholic Church wrote the bible, it would be contrary to its own name and purposal (catholic means universal) the fact that only they could read and interpret it. As far as I know the Church has got a message to all the world, and not only for who was born with christian parents, therefore its a contradiction the Chuch write a text that only itself could read, the text should then be accessible for the world. Reform defended that the message could flow.
Uhh you lost me with Aimee Semple-McPherson, who is endorsed by Benny Hinn. She was, as I understand, a faith healer. William Seymour is, I believe from the Azusa Street revival, which I do not exactly endorse, but I can say that many came to hear the message of Christ in his ministry. Watchman Nee, I do not know of. And even Charles Finney employed some questionable tactics that the church suffers from even today.
