I am pretty good with Photoshop, but when you showed what you were going to make I had no idea how you were going to do it

After following your instructions I pieced it together easily and it turned out awesome

I also learned a lot of techniques that I can apply on other things that I am working on, so thanks a bunch!

for u guys that don't have cs5 extended here's a tip afor u: go to cinema 4d and make a sphere with the grunge texture then render and put in photoshop thumbs up so people can see :D

@Solutiq I had the same problem but i just saved the glowing planet file for web and devices, opened it in photoshop and made the planet with the previous made glowing piece.

One thing, the aura goes around the outside/front of planet in the first picture, but in the tutorial it was totally blacked out and looked a little less realistic. Therefore in the tutorial we don't get a chance to know how you did that. I just found that really important sorry for complaining, great tut otherwise.

Oh dear... Apparently i cant create a shape from layer, that settings been grayed out :(

so i guess it must just be my graphics card throwing a wobbly or something :(

@TheDerangedOrange You should still be able to make a similar effect =) For example, just cut a circle out of the texture, give it some bevel, and use the Spherize filter =)
