i didnt understand some of the words but i understood by context. so basically words or ideas change, dont believe others people BS about crap, and the last one is some yin and yang shid.
Sorry to be critical, but I think that the core of a neutron star would be pretty pure neutronium.
One can have elementally pure substances - the chemical elements.
Mercury in a thermometer won't have bits of iron floating in it, will it?
But since 'good' and 'evil' aren't substances but abstract concepts, I guess you're analogy holds. They aren't absolutes. They are relative concepts that have no intrinsic value and aren't descrete like atoms but continuous.
@Teloculos Neutrons are composed of quarks, and under the pressures at the core may break down from neutrons, albeit briefly.
Mercury in a thermometer almost invariably has trace amounts of oxygen dissolved in it (and is then contaminated with the compound mercuric oxide as the mercury and oxygen react, if I recall correctly).
Yes, you can have elementally pure substances if you are talking about say, a molecule of elemental Hydrogen, but when you have more, that's difficult. (cont)
@stealthbadger I'm not nitpicking about my terms, so much as illustrating the point made earlier, and underscored by the second law of thermodynamics. To put it poetically: nature not only abhors a vacuum, it abhors order - and our word for this principle is "entropy."
It takes far more energy to create and maintain an ordered area within the system than the ordered area can contain - this is why we have trash piles and waste heat and pollution.
@stealthbadger Ok I see your point. It's like the old kilo weight losing, um, weight, because molecules were evaporating into the vacuum it was kept in for "protection".
Thinking about you analogy and alloys vs pure metals, alloys tend to be stronger because the impurities give the primary substance something to grip. Mixing substances yeilds more interesting things than just looking at the elements in isolation too.
I don't think there's any way a lifeform or idea can be pure anything though.
@stealthbadger Way to over complicate shit, I stand by my original comment if you didn't understand it thats fine, if it wasn't a perfectly coherent sentence then forgive me for not caring about the logical consistency of a youtube comment....outrages i know
@shandcunt It's not over-complicating it. Do you disagree with the video, or do you think what I say in it is valid, but applies to me? It's a serious question. If you just got your feelings hurt and just disapprove of it for emotional reasons, that's OK too (but don't pretend it's an argument).
Oh, and it's not an outrage - it's just contradictory. I asked for clarification and (seemed) to act like I was asking for your passport and birth certificate. It's a very simple question.
My objection to your video is that you seem to believe that DMD2 won’t produce any significant results because it won’t change any Muslim’s opinion. I think you’re missing the larger picture here: the point is not just showing Muslims that their laws don’t apply to us; the main goal is to draw attention to the problem of Islamic intolerance of criticism, so that more pondered debate can follow. Outrage attracts attention (audience); a larger audience will expand and deepen debate.
@The31YearOldVirgin I talked about that larger point last year, so no, I'm not missing it at all (but it's very apparent that Joniversity and Thuderf00t didn't get the memo - you may want to let them know).
Short form: if you are just drawing pictures that piss off Muslims and also seem obscene to Western eyes, then the conclusion that people will draw is that you hate Muslims. If you draw respectful pictures and STILL piss of Muslims, that will start a conversation.
@shandcunt Think carefully for a moment. You can't totally disagree with this video, or you can't think that I'm criticizing something that needs to be criticized. If you totally disagreed with it, then you could say that I don't have a point, and if you agreed with it but applied it to me, you'd be accusing me of hypocrisy.
I don't care which it actually is in your mind, because you don't seem to be thinking clearly - but you may want to sort it out for yourself.
Dammit I have a hard time commenting because you lay things out so well, but here I go. I am not moved to draw anything or burn anything for anyone, because, just by their request of me to do so raises my senses as to what their motivation is. I don't want to be anyone's pawn, and I don't want to be on a list of people that were fooled by another. I support political, and humanist types of causes, and this is not one of them. This SCREAMS, "FEED MY EGO!" well, fuck you, tf00t, and your ego!
The thing with TF is that he can't project himself into the mind of his enemies.
He can't understand that while he sees the west as threatened by muslims in Afghanistan rioting as a direct assault on his freedom of speech, they feel a fear that we are going to impose a way of life on them that will force them to endure koran burning in their country.
They don't want freedom of speech. They havent been raised to esteem freedom and they have endured a 10 year occupation compounding their fears.
@HulkSmashPunyHumans You didn't mention that the people of Afghanistan have been at war in some form or another for well over 30 years now. That's more than an entire generation. Ideals such as civil government are as foreign as those they see as invaders.
@deepashtray yes very true. Not only that but when there is no war against the invaders from without the Aghans go right back to their incessant inter-tribal warfare from within.
There is a reason that country is called the Graveyard of Empires. They don't want to live in the 21st century. Hell they don't even appear to want to live in 15th century. And with this koran burning and draw mohammed day the idea of ever winning their hearts & minds is just a lie we tell ourselves to justify a war.
This is what irritates me the most about TF's crusade. He's becoming an absolutists. For anyone who's conversed with people of a dogmatic nature of any kind it quickly becomes clear that they see the world in stark black and white terms.
@stealthbadger Being the typical Nietzsche fan girl, Im dying to ask which quote you had in mind. With all this business with TFoot & his continuing descent into dogmatism the one I keep being reminded of is "Whoever fights against monsters should take care lest they become a monster" i.e. in fighting against fundamentalistism he's become the fundamentalist.
"Whoever fights monsters should see to it that in the process he does not become a monster. And when you look long into an abyss, the abyss also looks into you." ^.^
This is why I don't make videos. Folks like you say it much better. At any rate, great job exploring some of the behaviors of those with a cultish mindset.
As you talked, for some reason I started thinking about Plato's Theory of Forms. It's been awhile but pure forms do not and cannot exist in the material plane, only the theoretical one. Kind of like ideas of certain things, in a way.
i didnt understand some of the words but i understood by context. so basically words or ideas change, dont believe others people BS about crap, and the last one is some yin and yang shid.
