  • Fast press on 3 repeatedly.... Now now Doyle....

  • Wow, never seen this intro, I bought the box set a few years ago but haven't gotten around to watching more than the first few eps (which I shall rectify soon!)

Still prefer the 'usual' intro tho :)

  • There was a version of this with a voice over from Cowley (Gordon Jackson), which said: "Anarchy, acts of terror, crimes against the public. To combat it I've got special men - experts from the army, the police, from every service - these are The Professionals."

  • Genius.

  • Gordon Jackson is remembered for playing the butler in Upstairs Downstairs but the Professionals as George Cowley his acting part is immaculate that you think you were watching his real life on TV. RIP Gordon Jackson.

  • these are better than the other titles.

oooh look there's bodie walking down the street.oohlook Doyle's hair blowing in the wind.

mind you the car s\crashing through the glass was good but that's it.

  • where did u get these??

  • They're intact on one or two of the episodes on DVD release of the first series (from Contender).

  • awesome! I've been looking for these titles ever since I heard about them... so you totally rock for uploading this!! Five stars all the way :)

  • Not nearly as good. Kind of not good at all, actually.

  • Silver Shadow! What a cool 'go' car!

  • Hilariously camp. The new credits kicked arse, though.

  • ace! my dad used to say when i was younger that near the end of the intro they jump in and speed off cuz there fry-up at the cafe down the road is ready lol

  • a rolls royce is not best of gety away veichle for a number reasons

  • Oh yes it is, after you have completed your mission its time to open the drinks cabinet!!

  • yes but you have to get away before you can open the drinks cabinet and for that jaguar v12 would be a better car

  • I like this opening. The normal opening is still ace.

  • I wish they left these titles on the repeats rather than change them for the "car smash" opening.

  • Awesome. I loved this programme as a kid. Just watching these titles and hearing that music again makes me want jump up and smash some chairs a shit.

  • Loved these credits!

  • Gosh, I'd completely forgotten about these first series titles - thanks for posting.

  • i seem to rememmber reading or hearing somewhere once that in the sreies to start with bodie and doyle drove cars supplied by leyland (think doyle had a dolomite sprint) but leyland wasnt very helpfull and for the next series they used fords and the capris but i recall doyle with a rs 2000 also. could this be part reason for change in intro also?

  • You are right: during the first season the BL cars disappeared and the team started driving Fords. From what I know, this wasn't the reason for the change; it was just a stylistic decision.

  • Have'nt seen these titles since it was first broadcast 30 years ago !. Pity the dvd's don't include them as extras.

  • There were a few versions, including another with a slightly different musical arrangement, and, as glenrea mentions, one with a VO: 'Anarchy, acts of terror, crimes against the public. To combat it, I've got special men. Experts from the police, the army, from every service. These are the Professionals.'

  • These weren't alternative titles, but the original titles for the 1st series in 1977! They only exist on one or 2 episodes now, this being one of them. There should also be Cowley's speech on this intro....

  • Most definately, the other titles are heaps better. Bodie was my favourite. Teenage girl's dream.

  • Very good, but you can see why they went for a Granada smashing through a massive plate glass window
