You were told wrong. You can't "turn of (sic)" the tail rotor. He must have clipped it as he flared to land. Anything more than 12 degrees nose up (from memory - might be more) and you could dig the tail into the ground. Puma's have virtually zero lateral stability hence the very rapid yaw. The only solution is to chop the throttles and engines immeadiately or else it's game over. And you try reaching the levers with that degree of spin...
@Ballyorca good analysis. i am not a helicopter pilot myself, but you are right. the pilot had apparently flared too much and touched the ground, hence damaging the tail
Wow! Good to hear if it's true. The guy that was ejected to the ground was lucky that he didn't get chopped up by the main rotor, when it chewed into the grass.
i think they would hav survived bt RIP for those who didnt

How clean would the underwear of the guy who jumped out be when the rotors came 1 meter away from him

ok, why did he crash?! it looked like it's a tail rotor problem, but i didn't see any failure before it crashed. it's a mystery.

You can hear them calling out orders after the crash, at least one or two of them had to have survived.

I was told that the pilot turns his rear rotor of as he hit the ground and thats what made the bird spin. I dont think any one died.

I think this crash happened back in 2000. 11 people were injured but none killed. One had a nasty leg injury though.
