I own a neo, just turned two. Great, loyal and affectionate. They tune out when you're not active. A bit weary of strangers but thats also a breed deal. Still working, much of the time hes good with meeting people, as long as theres no eye contact, youre provoking a fight. Always have the dog smell the person and have them ignore the dog at first, then affection. Not for everyone, dominant war/working dogs. If you check out the ancient roman paintings of the Molasso, you will notice that it is wrinkle. These are beautiful dogs that are rare and misunderstood. I bet that they are as healthy as over-bred Golden retrievers and GSD.
I'm a Neo owner and I'll tell you they are a quirky breed. They're extremely smart and loving animals but they're not a dog to take lightly. Also it doesn't matter if how often they're socialized they will do whatever it is in them to do. They do not mix well with kids and they do not tolerate strangers or other dogs in their home. My 5 year old Neo, Cashmere, is a great dog but because of her size mishaps happen. Considering a Neo? You should consider talking to more neo owners first.

Every breed has been bred by us humans for centuries for individual purposes. The neo is not the perfect breed in terms of health and activeness, but they make lovely doorstops and their flatulence is hilarious.

A neo is a mastiff, just like a presa, cane corse and many others. They are good warriors but the good ones are hard to find since most idiotic breeders breed for excess skin. The reality is that the Neo is NOTHING like his ancestor from the Roman times in every way. The neo is a revived breed which through careful selective breeding was revived in the 1970's-80's. Each group of breeders go for a different look.

A cane-corso is also a revived breed - but a poor revival, whence also grouped as a bandog.

You idiots! Neos are not fighting dogs! They have a gladiator history, but the later breeds like the APBT and the Tosas were bred specifically for fighting. They kept breeding them 'til they beat all the other breeds. Neos are tough, but do not have the stamina for dogfighting. But who gives a shit anyway, you shouldn't be fighting them anyway - or you will end up like Vick! Also, most purebreds were once mutts before they bred pure.
These dogs are one of the best choices of a home/estate guardian, but a word of caution: they live up to 12 years, eat a lot of food, can be quite destrucive in a house, and if they are not properly socialized, can can hurt an innocent visitor very badly. but on the whole this is a very stable breed. * The Cane-Corso is a popular poor-mans dog in Italy for guarding farmland, large lands.

* Neo, small mansion security, popular in the mafia, and a show dog.

Yes the Tosa was created by Asians and the APBT were mostly refined in Southern USA by Whites, but seriously, what the hell does that have to do with it. It's about Year 2000+ and dog fighting is not for the now. Are you making a race issue just b/c Vick is Black?

the tosa was actually mostly bred by europeans in japan atleast i know it was crossed with european mastiff dogs i mean just look at all the other japanese dogs and look at a tosa its obvious.

Yes, that's no secret - the bulk of the blood that went into the Tosa were of Western stock - Dogue de Bordeaux, Bulldog, Mastiff, Great Dane, Bull Terriers, APBT and even the St. Bernard. The rest was from the Shikoku Inu - A Japanese Spitz-like dog. The gameness was perfected in organized dogfighting in Kochi, Japan. Dogs don't concentrate on race.

these guys are fucking beasts. it's hard to find a good breeder/bloodline around me. they are getting more popular because ppl think they need a tough dog to make themselves look "macho" so I see alot of neo pitbull mixes in the paper and at the vet clinic I work at. it's kind of sad because due to poor breeding the neos that I do see don't look like neos and they seem to have alot of skin, eyes, elbow, and hip problems.

one of the most beautiful creatures. ive owned 2 males, they were extremely dominant and easily enraged. they dont know the meaning of fear and stamina is not necessary for fighting because once they get a hold on their prey its all over.

You idiots! Neos are not fighting dogs! They have a gladiator history, but the later breeds like the APBT and the Tosas were bred specifically for fighting. They kept breeding them 'til they beat all the other breeds. Neos are tough, but do not have the stamina for dogfighting. But who gives a shit anyway, you shouldn't be fighting them anyway - or you will end up like Vick! Also, most purebreds were once mutts before they bred pure.

These dogs are one of the best choices of a home/estate guardian, but a word of caution: they live up to 12 years, eat a lot of food, can be quite destrucive in a house, and if they are not properly socialized, can can hurt an innocent visitor very badly. but on the whole this is a very stable breed. They are one of my favorites

One of my friend had a dog which died in skull injury from a bigger dogs bite. When this happend, the killerdogs owner just said "Your dog has learn how to fight" He was truly one of those pricks like 6014lyfe.
