Looks like a very Difficult training exercise..I like it. A guy my size would sooner knock out a stud and get through than try and wiggle through..im a little to big to fit through. Tho in my FF1n2 i did it. its just a pain in the ass.
NICE!! I have no problem with a girl being a firefighter. Especially since one proved to me she could during training last week. She freaggin lifted me up, Firemans carried me 200 ft, and then had to drag my body another 400 ft through a bunch of obstacles. She wasn't even so much as winded or tired! I was like damn girl!
I read the comments below and couldnt help by LAUGH. Here In TN I'm a Level 2 "journeyman" Firefighter. EMT-IV, HAZMAT-Tec, Extrication certified, etc AND here's the catcher....I'm a GIRL. I've been in this field for going on 5 years now. My entire FD has complete confidence in me. In or out! You men who down the woman that share the same passion for this service as you just don't get it. One day this GIRL may be on your RIT team. I do my job because I love it, not to prove anything to men
haha I am so glad to here a girl say that I may be a guy but I look at it as if a girl is gonna pull my ass out idc if she does i just hope she can do it.
dude I had a girl that was less than a half of my body weight sling me over her shoulder and carry me 300 feet, I was like DAAAAAAAAMMMMMMMMMMMNNNNNNNNNNNNN

women firefighters are good as long as there are no fires that require opening up carrying and operating heavy tools likes saws, ladders, and hurst tools. Women can serve and protect as cops where a well armed woman can even the playing field.
I aplogize for my last commet what I should haved said was this.... I have two female firefighter on my crew that I trust and would put my life in their hands any day anywhere. So what I am getting at is this females that want to be firefighters should do it don't hold back go for it. Just learn the job and be great at it because that is the only way you will be accpted into the fire service.
We have several female firefighters on our department (90 p.o.c./p.t. and 6 full). They're just as smart and able as the males. I trust them to haul my hide if need be. It's not just strength and agility, but also proper technique, knowledge, and wisdom. If not, then why would some departments want at least a 2-year degree from employees?
If you want, give volunteer a shot. Everyone gets razzed, so prove you're capable and a good person. If they won't accept you then, it's their problem.
i'm a female firefighter, and my advice to you is just go out there and join a volunteer department. being a rookie isn't as bad as it seems. you might get hazed a little bit but take it all in stride, it's your way of being accepted, and the last thing you want to do is whine and complain about doing things, because that won't get anybody's respect. being a female you do have to work harder. you aren't given the somewhat automatic respect as a rookie male fire fighter is you gotta bust your ass
What she should have done was put her pack in between the joist first and fall back into the room... Not that hard.... Just anouther reason women should not be in the fire service! If she has that hard of a time getting in and out of that how in the HELL is she going to do it with pulling a downed firefighter or victim out???
I've always wanted to be a firefighter. It's my dream. But i'll admit I'm a little nervous to be a probie, cause i've seen videos and read books about the funny (really funny) but mean pranks the other firefighters play on the newbies. Plus I'm also a girl, and most girls don't enter the fire field. Any of you firefighters wanna give me advice?
dude...do it. Im a girl (18) and I just got my EMT and fire training. I love it. Yeah the guys play pranks on you but just prank em back. Being a girl is not a downside- you will most likely fit in small areas more easily plus if youre respectful of everyone else theyll be more than willing to help you out with whatever. Anyway, though mostly men enter the field there are still a decent amount of women. If you want to put in the time do it, you wont be disappointed =)
as an emt and firefighter, do it. the probie stage is fun for every one.. rolling hose's n washing trucks aint that hard.. and the pranks arent nothing to seriouse... just pay attion in class and all ways do your best.. they wont just throw u on hte hose line n jack u up to 250 psi and set it at 300 gpm.if u feel ur not ready to do somthing tell the chief. there are so many jobs in the fire feild ur bound to find somthing you will really enjoy doing. its not all about going into the buring house
Search and rescue you see more shit as in car crashs and bodies that are fucked up but it is a little bit easier then a fire fighter who works in high heats and needs to know alot .... i myself are in boh and think they both have there own dificualty in it all up to you
Try fitting through a 12 inch by 12 inch box by 25ft long in full gear.I did this when i was with the explorer program. The biggest fire fighter on duty did it too. I think he was 280 300lbs at the time
the only time oyu ever need to take your pack of when forcing entry through a wall is when there is metal conduit in the wall. she could have easily knocked the wires down a little...put her pack through with it on her back, and then did a swim technique as if she was backstroking. if you are a firefighter than try this with your shift. we have a 350 lb guy who fits through 16in. openings on our shift with this technique.just one arm swims and then you twist.
HAHA I once had to attack a fire in the crawl space of a home.. omfg that sucked.. i took off the air pak cuz i kept hitting it on the floor joists and dragging hose sucks when crawling.
Like I stated before, please to do NOT sterotype. I'd go against you anyday at State Competition or the Firefighter's Challenge. I've deadlift many of men, vented through countless roofs, been very active on the RIT team for years. There isn't a man on my department that I could dead-lift, esp. in times of distress. So, once again, Please do NOT sterotype. Thanks!
WHoo for nasty responces! i started learning young! my dad and brother were in teh departmane so i started training at the age of about 6! (go little girls) i sould out do the vets in a coupel years and can still otu do the new "full time full paid fully qualitifed" people that are up there now. most women/girls could not yes i agree 100% and yea she is learning. its hard dude. or do you not remember your probie days?
GO SCOTT GO! i love them. and the other ones we have (idk names) but only the vets get them and i got one at the age of 16! whoo.. they are soo light and goodness yummy
Hey now, watch the female comments here. As a Female firefighter myself, I am equally as strong as the men on my department. As for the female Probie you see above: key words- Probie. She'll learn one day, she'll never become entry. Im 6 feet tall and as strong as an ox. I do everything that a man can do on a fire ground. The problem is that every now and then you have the prissy females who want to run their mouths but can't physically back up their words. Please do not stereotype. Thanks!
you are right some females are storng and can do most things men can but it is proven that guys as a population are stronger then female no offence to any girls i dont think the world could be run without girls
there is an easier way to get through the studs put you air cylinder between to studs with it still on you back put one arm through the two studs then the other like the back stroke the you will go right through just make sure you sound the whole floor b4 goin through
I don't know, there's plenty of guys on my job that are worse than the females we have. Too many guys are there just for the perks.

When going through the wood on the bottom, she could lossen the strap on her air pack and shift it to the side. It would make it easier to fit.
