I remember the first time I heard this song, sitting in my C company, 1/51 infantry barracks in Crailsheim, Germany. His music always made me feel good, no matter what was going on. I hate to imagine a life without his music.
There is something truely American and makes me think of simpler times when I hear old Waylon and all the Outlaws! It reminds of how a simple car ride or motorcycle ride could turn into a reflection of life and how complicated it has become but these guys made it OK to still be a badass and tell the masses to go to hell!
I have not gotten enough of this video, I play it over and over and over - LOL. There is NO man like Waylon, just ain't, never has been, never will be.
Been a fan of his for 25 yrs now....No words can truly describe him. He and his music still and always will have a profound effect on me. He is greatly missed.... but his soul and his music live on!!!!!!!!
I love Waylon on this song. Pure Waylon at prime time. There is another version on the new Waylon Forever CD with Shooter and the 357s that is really good too but there is just something about the originial Waylon doing Waylon.
every song tells a story, Waylons life is written down on paper as music to us. You have to just need his music playing all the time to feel good. All the other country songs get yer blood flowin for a little while,,, oh but waylon!!!!! The man is a badass, im 26 an i would give thousands of dollars a ticket to see him today.... This is the music i will raise my children on instead of all the other crap out there today. The word OUTLAW in the dict. has a pic of WAYLON JENNINGS by it...
I remember listening to this song for the 1st time, sitting in my barracks when I stationed in Germany. What a loss that he is gone. Thanks for the great music hoss. Rest in peace.
Can you see most of the modern so-called country stars, in a moment like this. Their whole choreographed show would fall apart. Waylon's down home sense of humor was part of his legend. You can hear it in songs like "out of jail" and many others. He laughed at himself. God I wish he was still with us.
I guess that's because he is the "real deal", with talent, and the love of the audience, instead of depending on theatrics, smoke, lights, dancers, etc to hold an audience.
Whoever selected dislike is a fucking idiot and doesnt deserve to listen to waylons music anyway... period

oh...that's so true...and us "died in the woods" Waylon fans don't want the smoke & mirrors either....we just want HIM!
