HP Pavilion Elite HPE-398d Desktop PC is this good enough for FSX? Genuine Windows® 7 Home Premium 64-bit Intel® Core™ i7 processor 860 2.80 GHz 8 GB DDR3 1 TB SATA 3G Hard Disk Drive (7200 rpm) BlueRay Disc Combo Player NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 260 Special Edition; up to 5374 MB total available graphics memory, with 1.8 GB dedicated..

I actually just recently got a new PC (windows 7 64-bit). It;'s got an i7 870 3.6Ghz, 8GB of ram, a 5750 graphics card oc to 750Ghz core and 1300Ghz memory (1GB dedicated). i can run this max graphics 8xAA - edge detect and 8x antostopic filtering 50 fps flat. no drops in fps and its locked at 50. With fraps doing a video its like 25 fps or so.
Im curious..what does everyone do when on FSX? Are you into just sightseeing, IFR techniques, different airports, countries...what are you into? Im getting bored ..take off, straight flight, land...repeat...repeat....sigh
@ellonysman At first i thought as you. A little more than a year ago i still was like "omg those simmers are so lame and idiots" now i am a huge FSX fan. What do i do. When you do everything seriously, there is lots of things to do and to master, and it never gets boring. I have 550 hours on my logbook. Fooling around is boring and pointless.

Nice video but I would suggest downloading a different sound file for the 747, as the one it comes with is garbage...other then that you have a nice system, if you want better performance switch to Windows 7 Ultimate and you'll get a slight increase in frame rates
What are the graphics settings??? i'm going to take a wild guess and say ultra high. Am i right?? i am purchasing a Q9550 myself. i dont have a 960GTX but i have a 8600gs. (Nvidia)
actually i dont remember.. probably almost everything on very high. Q9550 is a good cpu but sometimes it's not enough to run fsx with good fps in busy airports. I suppose nvidia 8600 is enough to run fsx.
it is just bad programming code. fsx has worse graphics like the other fs before and needs a monster computer.thank good it was the last FS.maybe some day there will be a new one with a other technologie different team with better graphics and performance.
Don't kno how to build computers mate what shud I type into a website for a computer thy plays fsx good with no lag and good graphics. i5 came out later than the i7. The i7 920 probably costs less because it was the first i7 to come out.. and probably intel is now going to replace this one soon.
Can u give me a description of a good pc for fsx i can type in to amazon or ebay that can play this game real good and use the internet good etc: + it has to be under £250 Thx + i sub'd
Q9550 is really a good cpu, but now probably you should look for the newer Intel Core i5 cpus. They cost about the same as the old Q9550 but they have more features.
It looks like you are using one of the ground environment programs. Are you? If so, which on(s) do you use? It looks great. Currently using an Intel E8400 clocked to 3.8. Been looking at the Q9550. this video has sold me on the Q9550. Is this the PMDG 747?
no, i use the default fsx ground environment. I was using the default 747, not the PMDG one (for me it's too difficult to use that one XD). Btw, the Q9550 is really a good cpu. :D
no problems. Probably you are having some problems with the InstallShield application. Try to clean your registry with some programs such as CCleaner.
video cap programs hog fps too. my i5 & 4890 gets 50-65fps @ 1920x1080, AA & anisotropic filtering in DX9. However if i enable DX10 it loses 10-15 frames straight away. So in my case DX9 is the prefered option. Maybe its coz i have all the settings up on high though, high traffic & complexity.
if you want to achieve better fps, you should enable the "preview directX 10" option, it will fully utilize your quad cpu. I have e8200 run at 3.66GHz and hd4850, when I use dx9 I get around 15-20 on ground and 30-50 in the air with cpu not really utilized at all and gpu utilized 99%, when I enable dx10 I get 25-40 ground and above in the air, also cpu fully utilized and gpu running at 60% and I use a lot of addons like REX, UTX Europe, GEX USA etc...
and disable anti-aliasing in FSX and enable it in the nvidia driver, set it to 4X or if your card can handle it crank it up a bit more, my experience was better image quality with more FPS
myself and a friend recently did a series of bench tests with FSX. We found that SP2 / Acceleration caused problems. Frames decrease with SP2 only but smoothness is better with just SP1 installed
nothing to lose, you can always reinstall expansion if you dont like difference. SP1 is the basic update for using multiple cores. It is a shame because expansion has the added sound config to allow ATC over seperate sound device i.e headphones :(
you pc runs it better than mine cause i have laptop with only small specs but on your pc it looks more animated then realistic on the bigining specialy wit the wing view btw good video
I think you should see the price of DDR3. I have got Corsair XMS2 DDR2-800 and they're very good (i got them for about 40 euros). Personally I would get DDR2 unless you decide to get the Intel i7. For 3D vision I don't know. For me, a single GTX260 is enough for gaming.
yeah, I'd be going Core i7 920, and you really need to check out 3D vision, the card you have, the same one I have, has 3D Vision, you can set it up to use crappy red & blue glasses, to see what it would look like, it's pretty cool. So now I HAVE to get the proper glasses and monitor, haha
Pretty poor considering the hardware you have, if this is all what the GTX260 can offer, which is bumby frame rate (just look at the background when you take off), then no thanks, I need a much better card than this.
Actually the gtx260 is a good card. The gtx275 and the gtx285 from nvidia give almost the same performance in benchmarks and the gtx295 (which is 2x260s in sli) is too expensive. The problem is that fsx is very cpu demanding, just try to increase or decrease the traffic and you will see the difference. The gtx260 can handle it well to maximum, check my other video in which i disabled AI traffic.
I don't believe a word of that. First of all, you have a Q9550 that's already quite faster than a regular Q6600 and secondly, FSX is optimized for multi cores. The extra traffic is hardly something that should affect performance with that kind of power, unlike physics calculations in games like GTA IV which is tons of times more processor hungry.
well, probably not very cpu demanding but not well optimized too, have you tried to run fsx on your pc? have you seen other videos on youtube running fsx on gtx260 with a quad core cpu? and by the the way fraps eats frames and movie maker encoded the video @ 25 fps. GTA IV runs well @ ~30 FPS with high graphics.
well you're a dumbass for not believing a word of that, and traffic has a huge impact on performance, go do some research before you post any more stupid comments
no, it's the hard drive and gpu. i have the same thing. q9550 @ 4ghz, gtx 260 etc... unless you have 8gb of ram to eliminate page filing, fraps eats the hell out of the hdd and gpu
I have the exact same setup exept you have a better graphics card. Mine is runnin as smoth as silk.
my only question is, when you hit the ground to land, that part of the wing lifted up to slow u down, how do you do that, because I need to know, thanks!
the part of the wing at 7:10 is called "spoiler" and it is used during a fast descent and after touchdown in order to slowdown the aircraft. If you look at "spoilers" in FSX Help Guide you'll see how to use them.
The video is a bit laggy because i recorded with Fraps (which eats a lot of framerates), however i can run it smooth too during normal gameplay.
Thanks ...If I could trouble ya just a bit more ...what were your FSX settings & what kind of of framerates were you getting at each Airport/City area?
What treiber has you got?Can you me please write me?an my GTX 260 deutsch:Also wenn ich habe auch eine GTX 260 und wenn ich FSX starte dann steht da sie sollten mindestens eine geforce 3 oder readon 8500 haben was ist da brauch ich nen treiber oder was habe ich falsch gemacht??

@G00g284 if you know how to build a computer, you can choose the hardware you want and then built a custom pc.

A good computer has got:
- a Quad Core CPU (Intel Q9xxx series or the newer i5 and i7 series)
- a good motherboard (gigabyte, asus,...)
- at least 4 GB of ram (ddr2 or ddr3)
- a good graphic card (nvidia gtx260, GTX275 or ati 4870, 5850, 5870)
- a good power supply
Kollyzz 2 years ago
hi. i read the comment and do these specs look good:
windows 7 home premium 64-bit
Q9400 2.66GHz
Nvidia GeForce 9800GX2 1GB
2X2 4GB RAM DDR2 (800MHz each)
500GB SATA Hard Drive
850WATT power supply
Gigabyte G41-SM2L motherboard
i also heard that SP1 for fsx improves performance by 50% on most PC's, will that mean i will have more framerates? thanks!
fsx20022004 2 years ago
Those specs look good. Probably I would go for nvidia geforce gtx260 or gtx275 (they are newer than the 9800gx2) or ati 5850.
SP1 improves performance because it takes advantages from multicore systems, so you will have more framerates.
Kollyzz 2 years ago
sorry but i already built the computer now, but ive heard that though the 9800GX2 is older, it has similar FPS to the GTx275 and GTX280
fsx20022004 2 years ago
yes the 9800gx2, because it's a dual card, it gives similar performance and has almost the same FPS to the GTX2xx series. However nice computer :)
Kollyzz 2 years ago
Yeah im getting a new computer i think it will run fsx a little better:
Windows 7 Ultimate 64-Bit
Intel Core i7 920 @ 3.8 GHz
Nvidia GeForce GTX275 1GB
6 GB DDR3 (2x3GB)
500 GB SAT Hard Drive
900 W Power Supply
X58 Motherboard (dunno which one)
Do you think it will run FSX any better???
XxL33ZOxX 2 years ago
yes, it will run a lot better i think. If you look on youtube for FSX videos made with Intel Core i7 you can see improvements. FSX performs better because i7 has more bandwidth.

yes GTS250 = 9800GTX+ (same chip, same memory specs)
Kollyzz 2 years ago
didn't overclock the proccesor for this video rite? it's at stock right?
odxt1995 2 years ago
Yes, I didn't overclock. So it's at stock clock (2.8 GHz)

How many FPS do you get? Thanks!
Willanhanyard 2 years ago
thanks :D the gtx260 is also the best nvidia gaming card for its price ^^
Kollyzz 2 years ago
this game looks like poop. no need for hd at all.
HELPITSSTUCK 2 years ago
you pc runs it better than mine cause i have laptop with only small specs but on your pc it looks more animated then realistic on the bigining specialy wit the wing view btw good video
vlastimilsimkoenglan 2 years ago
how many fps do you get on fsx? because maybe i buy this processor
yoto5951 2 years ago
When i'm in the sky at cruising altitude i have from 30 to 60 FPS. When I'm on busy airports framerate drops down from 15-20 FPS.
Kollyzz 2 years ago
I'm gonna be building the same system, but I wanna go with DDR3 ram, you think DDR3 is worth it? also know of any good ddr3 mobos?
I already have a EVGA GTX 260 Superclocked, but I wanna use 3D vision.... would I need a better video card, or should I just SLI? thnx!
1981z28camaro 2 years ago
I think you should see the price of DDR3. I have got Corsair XMS2 DDR2-800 and they're very good (i got them for about 40 euros). Personally I would get DDR2 unless you decide to get the Intel i7. For 3D vision I don't know. For me, a single GTX260 is enough for gaming.
Kollyzz 2 years ago
yeah, I'd be going Core i7 920, and you really need to check out 3D vision, the card you have, the same one I have, has 3D Vision, you can set it up to use crappy red & blue glasses, to see what it would look like, it's pretty cool. So now I HAVE to get the proper glasses and monitor, haha
1981z28camaro 2 years ago
lol, so you mean that you can look 4D cinema at home with 3D vision? cool :D
Kollyzz 2 years ago
it depends if it was originally shot or rendered at 2 different angles. (Most games are of course) :-)
1981z28camaro 2 years ago
Are you flying in Mumbai?
IndianSettler 2 years ago
Pretty poor considering the hardware you have, if this is all what the GTX260 can offer, which is bumby frame rate (just look at the background when you take off), then no thanks, I need a much better card than this.
sbbw7 2 years ago
Just look at 0:55 the buildings in the background move anything but smooth.
sbbw7 2 years ago
Actually the gtx260 is a good card. The gtx275 and the gtx285 from nvidia give almost the same performance in benchmarks and the gtx295 (which is 2x260s in sli) is too expensive. The problem is that fsx is very cpu demanding, just try to increase or decrease the traffic and you will see the difference. The gtx260 can handle it well to maximum, check my other video in which i disabled AI traffic.
Kollyzz 2 years ago
"The problem is that fsx is very cpu demanding"
I don't believe a word of that. First of all, you have a Q9550 that's already quite faster than a regular Q6600 and secondly, FSX is optimized for multi cores. The extra traffic is hardly something that should affect performance with that kind of power, unlike physics calculations in games like GTA IV which is tons of times more processor hungry.
sbbw7 2 years ago
well, probably not very cpu demanding but not well optimized too, have you tried to run fsx on your pc? have you seen other videos on youtube running fsx on gtx260 with a quad core cpu? and by the the way fraps eats frames and movie maker encoded the video @ 25 fps. GTA IV runs well @ ~30 FPS with high graphics.
Kollyzz 2 years ago
well you're a dumbass for not believing a word of that, and traffic has a huge impact on performance, go do some research before you post any more stupid comments
thatoneyoungguy 2 years ago
My guess is he hasnt overclocked his Quad core and doesnt know how to optimise settings
111olbap 2 years ago
LOL its cpu based game so a better cpu would definatly help this frame rate, plus! hes using fraps which kills the cpu usage
Ikilledyou123 2 years ago
no its kills the HDD usage and gpu usuage
DonkeyBonrProduction 2 years ago
it just kills fps when running fraps hard drive and cpu activity are fine and im running the same cpu and gpu as this guy
wardy92 2 years ago
no, it's the hard drive and gpu. i have the same thing. q9550 @ 4ghz, gtx 260 etc... unless you have 8gb of ram to eliminate page filing, fraps eats the hell out of the hdd and gpu
DonkeyBonrProduction 2 years ago
u dont even need 8gb of ram 4gb is good enough games done even need that to run
wardy92 2 years ago
if you keep your computer clean of extra background programs 2GB will be more than enough on any OS IMO.
overclockerfx 2 years ago
games like gta use 3gb atleast on any system
wardy92 2 years ago
unlikely but I haven't tried...
overclockerfx 2 years ago
only going off what task manager and cpu/memory usage gauges state
wardy92 2 years ago
i will try to see gta IV memory usage
Kollyzz 2 years ago
Hi, Great video dude.
I have the exact same setup exept you have a better graphics card. Mine is runnin as smoth as silk.
my only question is, when you hit the ground to land, that part of the wing lifted up to slow u down, how do you do that, because I need to know, thanks!
patrickmanning94 2 years ago
thank you.
the part of the wing at 7:10 is called "spoiler" and it is used during a fast descent and after touchdown in order to slowdown the aircraft. If you look at "spoilers" in FSX Help Guide you'll see how to use them.
The video is a bit laggy because i recorded with Fraps (which eats a lot of framerates), however i can run it smooth too during normal gameplay.
Kollyzz 2 years ago
Really looks good! ..Could you tell us where ( City/Airport ) you're flying out of/in to ??
Thanks
tomoko80521 2 years ago
I was flying around London Heathrow airport with B747, A321.
At #t=7m51s with the B737 takeoff it's Kennedy Intl (New York).
Kollyzz 2 years ago
However, I added the airport info in the description..
Kollyzz 2 years ago
Thanks ...If I could trouble ya just a bit more ...what were your FSX settings & what kind of of framerates were you getting at each Airport/City area?
Thanks again
tomoko80521 2 years ago
The aircraft and the clouds quality were at ultra high. The scenery was on high. Autogen at normal and traffic on medium.
The framerates were about 20 at the airport (with clear sky). When I was flying at high altitude the framerate increased (>30).
Frames drop when I change the weather to rainy.
Kollyzz 2 years ago
Quality is amazing. That's why i call good preformance in FSX. Wish all the vids were like that
tiemji 2 years ago
Thank you. When I download more addons and aircrafts, I'll post other videos.
