Even people who feel abortion is wrong should recognize that criminalizing it is bad public policy. Banning abortions doesn't stop women from getting them; thousands of illegal abortions take place all over the world every day. All banning it does is increase the maternal death rate. This is the same method we use in the US to project election results--they are usually referred to in the press as "exit polls".
