  • SHAZBOT

  • Next video, use fold out wings!! DO IT!

  • GOTTA GO FAST

  • I doubt whether your crash helemt would help much if you lost control and hit a tree at those speeds.

  • awesome

  • Shazbot!

  • Is this Tribes in real life?

  • I AM THE GREATEST!

  • SHAZBOT

  • I'LL GO AFTER THE ENEMY FLAG

  • heh heh heh, i saw you slow down on the way back too.

  • Hello! Omoshiroi! lol this video blew My mind! §tygo up^^^

  • Прямо космонавт.

    ...вот пирдун) ) )

  • Give one of these to Henrik Harlaut!

  • U ARE SO EPIC MAN !!! i love ur videos!

  • This was simply Amazing . . . !

  • This is genius, never thought people would be skiing UP a mountain haha... also im surprised your butt didn't get set on fire at the end when you were standing up XD

  • we need more vids like this one! cya!

  • dude you may be a great engineer but you need a pro skier like me:DDD

    please let me try it!!!!!!!:D

  • Just this thing spooling up is bad ass...

  • Ten times better if he had gone off a jump

  • Only thing this video needs is James Bond music! Nice work!

  • awesome

  • type in "ski crashes" in the youtube search and click the video with stars in the title to be shocked!

  • nice you'd think those things would run out of fuel very quickly. must've been tiring carrying the camera lol

  • @sherwinjtb You can cruise at this power setting for about 10 minutes, so you would travel maybe 5 miles. Full throttle you would only get about 4 minutes, but this would be enough to take you up a mountain a couple thousand feet. Not super practical, but damn fun.

No problem holding the camera...it's a GoPro. What was tiring was staying in the tuck position for any length of time while carrying 50 lbs. That's why I was standing upright so much toward the end. My legs were toast.

  • @troyhartmancom this would be good for snow rescue operations!!

  • Dude, You ROCK !!!!! It seems like you have like 1 jetcat with a high trust. Try to have some body else to shoot you when you are riding. Awesome..

  • @sakadatci Jetcats are too small. You would need to stack a bunch of their P-200's on your back to make it work.

    I agree...more video is needed.

  • So what do you have fi you dont have jetcat ?? dont tell me you are carrying a helicopter engine on your back ! =))))

  • @sakadatci Lots of different options out there these days for jet engines. I had to go with a UAV design typically used for military drones.

  • And this will definitly start a colonization of Antarctica. Btw, does ur jetpack just use air to make u move that fast?

  • @machineyarod I wish it were air...it would be a whole hell of a lot cheaper! It runs on jet fuel.

  • @troyhartmancom its still dope though. try inventing a jetpack that has fans under it and that spin very fast, maybe u could create somethin awesome out of that

  • Sweet i can catch a deer now :D

  • i need a jetpack jetpack jetpack is what i need

  • hells yeah!

  • How did you shoot the video from the ski angle? GoPro or Contour camera and especially what kind of mount did you use to attach to the skiis?SoonforDays at uTube

  • @SoonForDays It was a GoPro using the square mount that it comes on in the packaging. I just taped it down. I tried the adhesive mount but it came off immediately. Then I picked up the camera and started shooting hand-held, which I hadn't even planned on doing. Glad I did because it ended up being a good shot. You'll notice there are water spots on the lens from this angle because it had just fallen off the ski into the snow.

  • Cool!! How mutch?? XD

  • Go Pro HD is beautiful

  • im pretty sure that this would be more impressive going up hill.

  • @Messinaroundinytown Absolutely. I'm planning some high speed demonstration runs from base to peak of a ski resort mountain. It's going to be awesome.

  • wow this is soo cool! imagine what you could do with this awesome combination!

  • Show the d... jetpack!

  • i want jetpack ://

  • Only comment other than below is you should consider a couple of gopros showing several different angles.. SICK!!

  • Hero!

  • Uh, those look like snowmobile trails, not black diamond slopes...

  • @latexink You actually think I am trying to claim that was a black diamond slope? You might want to re-read what I wrote and quit assuming.

But don't worry...you will get to see a video of a mountain ascent soon enough...

  • @troyhartmancom Maybe you should clarify what you are showing... I know that isn't a black diamond slope, that was my point. Misleading descriptions were my complaint.

  • @latexink Everybody else has understood it.

  • Man, I love the 21st century!

  • so, have you caught the road runner yet Mr Coyote?

  • All you needed to do to achieve perfection was to have been wearing a dinner suit whilst being chased by half a dozen Russian agents

  • Dowant.

  • Is there any possibilities to buy this device? It seems like a lot of fun using it...

    Best regards from Norway :-)

  • @Danielandre76 Hopefully in a year or two. Norway would be the perfect place for it.

  • What's stopping such a device from being used for vertical takeoff?

  • @FacialTurd Not enough thrust.

  • @troyhartmancom How much thrust would you need?

  • @FacialTurd Another 50 lbs or so. But it isn't uncommon for a shutdown to happen for various reasons, so I don't think it would be the best idea.

  • Only 47 MPH? What're you holding back for?

  • tribes anyone?

  • Ha ha...

Not real... but interesting to watch...

  • @45von check out his website broseph. hes the guy who skydived plane to plane as well as many other dangerous feats. why would a jetpack with ski's be so far fetched?

  • @JONSKATEVIDS

Jon: Jetpack with ski's is not that far fetched.... It is most likely doable,

This clip just is not showing it.

I also think if anyone actually gets it done it could be Troy Hartman.

  • @45von I am not sure why you think it is fake. Please indicate what you see/don't see to bring you to this conclusion, and I will gladly explain what you are missing.

I would imagine that if one or two people actually post that it is fake, that means there are many more out there that agree. So I would like to clear up any confusion.

  • Going down the hill is too mainstream

  • Epic.

  • Wile E. Coyote would be proud.

  • So, when you gonna attempt to kill James Bond? XD

  • Bring on the moose chase!!!!

  • Awesome.

  • How much thrust you got on that jetpack?

  • @rohirm Max available is about 200 lbs, but at this altitude maybe only 140.

  • @troyhartmancom So could theoretically a person who weighs less than 140 pounds be able to achieve vertical liftoff?

  • @follownicholas Yes, still trying to talk my wife into it...

  • @troyhartmancom Hahaha. Good luck. Don't die, and be sure to post a video here on Youtube! :)

  • Dude, that´s truly amazing! Coolest thing I´ve ever seen.

  • james bond meets macguyver meets mythbusters

  • 47 mph = 75/76 km/h

  • 7 people never played GTA

  • 7 people are snowboarders.

  • This is something Wile E. Coyote would have invented. :D

  • I swear. Hollywood will rip this off and you'll see it in an action movie.

  • @yoshinibble123 Patent pending...but they'll still find a way to rip me off I'm sure.

  • @troyhartmancom try joomla! u will feel it's hard to understand in the beginning but once u have the understanding it will be easy to keep ur page in good shape!

  • @stekusthefishhunter Thanks. Checking that out.

  • J'en veux un !!

  • It would be amazing if you mounted one on a snowboard

  • where do I buy one of these things? It is much better than my 30mph electric skateboard.

  • I think a person like you really should have a better website, because your actual one looks like its stuck in 1995. Your work is great though.

  • @troyhartmancom

It looks like you might have two small turbojets back there? Is that the case? Also how much thrust (lbf) are those girls putting out?

Btw, best new winter sport ever dude, you rock!

  • @dasrael Yes, max available thrust is about 200 lbf, but at this altitude maybe more like 140.

I personally agree with you...it's destined to become a new sport. It's just too fun not to.

  • thats awesome, it sounds sweet too!

  • I wouldn't want to crash with that thing on your back..

  • just what the world needs....more retarded fuel burning toys

  • Iltasanomatt ....:D

  • awesome, love ur creativity :)

  • Really cool and very amazing! You outta jet on over to Kirkwood and take a zip around the meadow.. then storm up to Martin Point and nail a bunch of freshies... best of luck and thanks for sharing..

  • What kind of fuel does it use ? Is it efficient at all ?I

  • @07ziul It uses Jet-A, which is the standard stuff for all jet aircraft. Jet engines are really only considered efficient at very high altitudes (20,000' and up) and high speeds (500 mph or so). So in this application it isn't efficient by traditional standards, but it will get you up a mountain for fresh tracks at 100th the cost of a helicopter, which is efficient in its own way. But it's really just for pure thrills.

  • @troyhartmancom

Thanks for the reply. It should be fun to spend sometime on looking into ways to improve that efficiency for ground applications as well ( assuming that such efficient device doesn't already exist ). I think I will look into that when my workload lightens up. It sure sound like something fun and thrilling to do; even better when there is a chance to also bring some innovation to the table. =D

  • This is SWEET!

Can you give me/us more info about your setup?

  • @topgunm It is powered by UAV engine technology (not JetCats like somebody else here assumed). So it's pure jet propulsion, and not H2O2 or compressed air, both of which a lot of people assume it is.

  • @troyhartmancom Thanks for the info. I can't wait to see more videos!

  • Peukut pystyy jos tulit iltasanomien kautta :D

  • @Migsuboy Kiitos!

  • This is gonna be a mission in the next call of duty

  • kewl

  • This would make one hell of a ski jump

  • hahaha awesome

  • Like a boss

  • I like the part when he went fast

  • ola, sou do Brasil, parabéns, você tem tudo para se dar bem na vida....ótima invenção!!

  • @maelicrueli Obrigado!

  • You are awesome!

  • I dea for you , make some small wings and fly xd , easy ahahshs I would like to try it

  • The other guy at 1:36 surely thought "WTF?"

  • I'd like to see this in the winter olympics.

  • What a blast!

  • Cool, but I work with a lactose intolerant friend who, three hours after drinking a cup of milk, do this without a jet pack.

  • ö

    Do skijumping next !

    and at Planica hill

  • irado!

  • It's weird how the human kind never really seems to be satisfied.

  • Imagine you going to work with something like that. Cool!

  • sicke baas dit

  • What is the max. speed? Do u have any measurements or guesses?

  • @TheUnknownx12 You could easily get over 100 mph in the flats. I use the word "you" because I sure as hell won't be doing it. Not on skis at least.

  • You build this engine? How many fuel required to operate on long term, how many propulsion force can you get from it? What are the main materials and the compression parameters? I have some questions, but in hundreds characters... :)

    (Sorry for my bad english)

  • @VePe00 It is home-built. With my current fuel cells, it can run at full throttle for about 5 minutes, but cruising like I was in the video it can go for over 10 minutes. I am working on doubling these numbers.

Thrust is about 90 kg. You could get away with half this thrust and still do a lot with it. Anything less than that though and it would only be effective at sea level elevations.

Weighs about 50 lbs. That's why I had to keep standing up. My legs muscles were burning!

  • @troyhartmancom Thanks for the answer! :) I would like to make a question about the incredible heat, but you already answered it :D

Last stupid question: Did you build the whole engine or you bought a mini engine and build in a "pack"? (what is your qualification? I am Process and Energetic engineer, but I never has the luck to plan or even build an engine like that)

  • @VePe00 Not a stupid question at all. I had to team up with somebody that is an expert in building the turbojet core, but then I had to develop and integrate all of the support system technology. Getting it to even start up at high altitudes was a major challenge that took months to overcome.

My background is a degree in Aeronautical Engineering.

  • @troyhartmancom I am a little jealous for your resources and equipments what your country have :)

  • @VePe00 Hopefully in the not too distant future the technology will come way down in cost and be readily available to all who are interested. I am certainly going to do my part in trying to make that a reality.

  • congratulations, you revolutionized.

  • globo (dot) com

  • awesome... very nice!!! you are crazy )) i see this chanel in a importante Brazil TV website...)

  • @gabryel2000 That's awesome! Thanks for telling me. I was in Rio this last summer doing a show for "Huck". Luigi Cani is a very dear friend of mine, and I was flying the diving airplane for the plane-to-plane transfer stunt.

Luigi is awesome...we have some other stunts planned for down the road. Can't wait to come back to Brazil!

  • Jet packs make you fly... This guy didnt fly.. hence its not a jet pack

  • @x760YungNUGx I agree. It needs a unique name to set it apart. Problem is, it's a pack with a jet. What we traditionally know as jetpacks don't even have jets. They are rockets.

    Open to suggestions.

  • @troyhartmancom SUPER SKI

  • @troyhartmancom This is a jetpack. Because it have jet engines builted in a "backpack". You have right with the rockets...thats rocketpack :D this spammer noob dont even know what is an engine :)

  • Accelerate to attack speed!

  • Sounds like its gonna go boom!

  • This ought to be in the next James Bond movie! xD

  • well thats one way to get around

  • I'm assuming this was a home-built system. What are you using for fuel? and how did you pack it on your body?

  • @mikesdyno Yes, it is home-built. Runs on standard Jet-A aviation fuel. Integrating everything into a compact unit was a challenge and took a lot of trial and error, including a few mishaps in trying different things. Couldn't explain it in the 300 characters I have left in this response.

  • Duh Winning!

  • Sometimes reality is more Jamesbondish than movies

  • The way of the future......

  • that would ruin everything if he fell!

  • screw ski lifts when you got this.

  • AWESOME, just awesome, really nice one

  • Awesome! The only bad thing is that you REALLY don't want to crash on someone who is going downhill. So what's next? A two-way piste? Traffic signs?

  • this is as fake as marry poppins bag

  • @lasrocka That's funny, but please elaborate as to what makes you think it is fake. I guarantee you will find absolutely nothing to substantiate this statement.

  • @lasrocka WTF r u talkin about, DO YOU NOT SEE THE SNOW BEHND HIM AND THE REFLECTION OF THE GOGGLES THIS IS TOTALLY REAL, YOU CAN'T FAKE THAT!!! DOUCHEBAG.

  • Ce qui s'appelle avoir le feu au derrière !

  • yeah seriously, could you answer that question

how much did that jet pack cost you

  • @filahohi I'm answering this question in private messages. There are multiple factors to consider and I don't want to just throw out a number that will naturally be misconstrued.

  • Skiing. Jet pack. Someone just re-invented Tribes.

  • Bobba Fet on skis *LOL* :)

  • Oh, that was so awesome! I felt giddy watching it because it was just so cool. I would love to try that. And I'm a woman!

  • 3 people invested heavily in the anti-jetpack industry

  • so......its like tribes?

  • THIS is so FAKE... lol

  • That's bad ass

  • How do I get one of those and how much?

  • I've long had this crazy vision of a jetpack ski racing league one day. No mountain needed, although hill climb racing would be an event at ski resorts. Would love to hear if you think this is something you would watch or participate in. Please respond directly to this post so I can get an idea if it's something worthwhile to explore, or just plain dumb.

  • @troyhartmancom would love to watch and to participate, awesome vid.
