Sthlm is the largest city in Scandinavia. The Mälaren region+Linköping has 4.5 million inhabitants. This region is the leading conurbation in our part of the World and Sthlm is its centre. It has more universities, inhabitants, HQs, trade, production and major cultural institutions than the Öresund Region. That's what it's all about..
@scholion Isn't a little bit far stretched to include Linköping? I live in Uppsala and that's not far from Stockholm, still it's not really in the same region so to say. I understand if other people like to include Uppsala since many people commute to Stockholm from Uppsala, but Uppsala is a minor city which has a lot of forests and plains before even reaching the suburbs of Stockholm.

My city is full of great seafood, successful companies, beautiful women and stunning Nordic architechture, but Stockholm deserves to be the capital of Scandinavia!
Crime rate in Stockholm is among the lowest in the EU according to a recent Eurostat comparison, in particular violen crime. It is a very safe, friendly city and there are no "bad" neighborhoods.

So that much for your lies. Stockholm has no violent suburbs! The Swedish suburb with most immigrant (90 percent) is Rosengård outside Malmö (Sweden's third city). They have had some troubles down there but nothing in the Stockholm area. Btw my family live in a Stockholm suburb and you're just a loony!
