There seems to be no video of the lift made at the nationals in Chicago, 1969, of 228 pound Bill March doing military press with 390 pounds, but it's well known and remains, after 42 years, the talk of the lifting world. No knee movement, no back bend. It went up like elevator and looked good for more. Then there was 167 pound Pablo Lara power cleaning 419 on You Tube. Keep trying Kevin.
@TheJaedan And SHW weightlifters routinely powersnatch that weight everyday. This guy is supposed to be one of the best "Strongest Man"in the word yet he is killing himself to do a weight which the best SHW and HW weightlifters in the world powersnatch day in and day out. This guy cannot hold a candle to elite weightlifters which is why he has to participate in laughable strongman events and cannot go to the Olympics, which is the contest for the best men and woman in each athletic expression.
@Rogelio22 Olympic lifters equal fast and good technique strongman is Straight up being strong just raw power. Quit hating and gtfo. Olympi lifting, Strongman and Powerlifting are three very different things. Stop comparing them I doubt any olympic lifter could walk with 1 to 2 thousand lbs or flip 1000 lb tires or deadlift and squat 800+ lbs for reps.. STRONGMAN ALL THE WAY!
@Rogelio22 Strong GOD DAMN RIGHT HE IS, but best in the world is just too much, he aint on that level, i mean compare him the mischa the russian bear. i mean the video description says kevin dont go for 170 plus anymore because he suffered injury both times. but there is a video with where mischa with weightlifting technique get 270 above head. thats 100 kilo more and he aint even world number 1
I know how strong Kevin Nee is- 'muscling' this weight to an overhead press with no technique is amazing. But watching this vid make me respect hossein rezazadeh even more! Nearly 100kg more than this!
im 17 , doing a small 405 lbs max deadlift and 190 push press , do you think I would be able to do near this weights with proper nutrition (all stack in mass :D) without any dopage in my life ? thanks !
depends.( if these are real numbers) it seems as if your lower body is a lot stronger than your upper.. so correct for it. and secondly, kevin and all other powerlifters (unless its a tested comp) are using. so comparing your weights with theirs, if your never gonna use them ,is like shooting yourself in the foot..
@ArchAngelXIV Arch, me and you are like brothers dude. I'm 16, deadlifting 405 lbs just like you. Also, a 240 lb Behind-the-neck push press. I also want to be in WSM someday, i'm not sure if it's possible without gear though. I guess will just have to find out.
@mylesman99 Actually It was my little bro on my youtube account, he made it so he goes on it as well but, well I can tell you real quick that you should only use belts and gears only for your 1 reps , If you have question dont be shy,,,Often its not me on the account but i might see your question anydays
No disrespect to Nee cause he is strong as steel but I think olympic lifters overall are more stronger, more athletic, more flexible, more coordinated, and use more muscles and uses them more efficiently than strongmen
most olympic lifter would have to dip way under the bar to clean that unless there super heavyweights he pretty much just upright rowed that weight thats impressive if he trained like used great olpmpic tecnique he could easy do over 500 with about a year of practice at his weight that would be very impressive
Dimas is an Olympic weightlifter and Nee is a strongman. Dimas trains only to improve on 2 specific lifts. Nee trains to improve on a variety of everything. Dimas would beat Nee at a C&J and Snatch but Nee would beat Dimas on the deadlift and farmer's walk etc. Besides, Olympic lifters "jerk" the weight up using alot of hip and leg strength. Nee push presses the weight up using just triceps and shoulders (and a little legs).
that because this is clean and press. not clean and jerk like weightlifter do today.
this lift was taken out of olympic weightlifting in 1972 because in destroyed the weightlifters back, due to bad technic.
Look up an "clean and press Leonid Taranenko" or clean and "press Vasiliy Alekseyev" and you will see clean and press do without or very little help from the knees. and they press 500+ lbs
he best not come to the gym i go to and do that. walk up to my working deadlift weight and throw it over his head. i would not be pleased.

Kevin Nee is very strong guy. Considering that he is not a weightlifter and he is Strongman, or powerlifter he has also quite a good technique.

its very impressive but pyrros dimas at 180lbs bw c&j 474lbs(215kg) makes him look like a whimp at bw of 310
mike7ace 2 years ago
Yeah but im sure Pyrros uses a different form, Kevin uses a form you would see from football players. not dissing him theres just a different.
