  • Full length video at FullDocumentary dot [com] 86 minutes

  • He saw some aliens down there, the paintings are the cover-up story. They proped him hard down there, but his a tough cookie. He got the camera rolling with the paintings...

  • One reason the art is amazing because the animals had to be observed and memorized long before the artist could paint them. They couldn't bring the animals into the cave for reference.

  • I shot the Q & A from "Caves" after a screening at tiff this same year. Shaky and way from the back, but you can see it here: youtube.com/watch?v=lZI4M84kxXQ

  • What's that CD he's holding?

  • @ignoranttwat Peace Is Boring by Little Fyodor

  • I was looking through the spotlighted videos and just seeing shit shit shit shit shit shit, then I saw THIS video, and my faith in youtube was restored.

Oh yeah, and +1 for Roger Ebert being the cameraman.

  • werner herzog = super hero

  • This guy has a crazy life. He was the first on the scene when Joaquin Phoenix had a car accident and rescued him. He was also shot by an air gun during an interview and kept talking away until the interviewer was like, are you ok?

  • @Ginlah "It was not a significant bullet." -Werner Herzog

  • I just saw him speak at UCSB, such an interesting mofo.

  • @solenick23

    mother fucker part is right

  • what the fuck is the cave

  • I've been in the recreation of this cave which is all you can visit unless you're special like Herzog. They had a lot of people walk though it back in the 50's or so and all that exhalation started to fade the paintings which had been sealed away from any air for thousands of years. This guy is probably my very favorite director of all time. If you don't know of him please see some of his movies, they are amazing.

  • So he found a liberal society. He probably took the wrong exit and ended up in san frasisco
