  • @joshuakeller40 the stem on each note will go either upward or downward. If it goes up u play it with ur right hand. If it goes down u play it with ur left

  • You make everything make sense!

  • I just got an electric keyboard today and like how do you know which notes to play with which hand?

  • you actually made sense thanks allot you explained that very well

  • The screen jumping all over the place at first, really causes someone to just click off.

  • That really did not help me. All i could see was you pointing your mouse everywhere.

  • that relly helped me

  • im confused... :O and i cant find a good site or video to tell me how to read 1 stinkin piece of sheet music!!!!!! 1 song its freaking me out anyone please help!?!?

  • man your awesome at it all. im just starting off at well trying to play piano and guitar and sinlayg a bit too, been watching your vids and its helped me a bit to understand the cords more but still confused on alot of things. like you said though it all takes time :) keep up the great work.

  • "not a very good drawing" lol

  • you sound like the guy from Transformers a little

  • practice makes perfect...........

  • How do you know If the note is doe re mi fa so la ti ?and on what line?

  • You are a great instructor

  • @simenyasikhulu you're a great student!

  • Your clips are great! I've never learned to read music so the test will be now that I’m purchasing a keyboard to practice. Thanks for explaining so well!! You mentioned where to get diagrams you're drawing. I've been taking notes & when I want a visual I hit "print screen", turn your diagram into a photo, & crop as necessary. If you need a copy of everything you've said (with photos) word for word, I'd be happy to send my notes your way CatrinaGewirtz@yahoo.com

  • Oh my goodness.... I need eye surgery after watching this video. Sorry, but the graphics were jumping all over the screen too fast. Why is the "C" note at 2:23 inverted and appears to be like a "p"?

  • @sethland yea i hate editing video

  • As a child were you set on your head because there is something very very wrong with the way you set this whole thing up.

  • @Mrdumbassmf1 you can do better? then do it

  • ive invented my own kind of sheet music that only i can understand. shhhh hehe

  • @LOOPYMOOCOW haha nice

  • Such a terribly edited video, it makes trying to learn the music so difficult.

  • @Elrich89 i hate video editing.that's why i don't do it anymore.

  • would you slow down and stop moving the camera around I can't fucking focus in on what ur explaining. zooom that shit out and it would be easier for people. that shit just makes me dizzy trying to comprehend what ur explaining

  • @TheTripleDUBle hate video editing. sorry

  • OMG I Get It Now, I Watched The 1st Vid 2X,

After Seeing This 1 IS All Clear Now,

Thank U 4 Your Teaching The Simple Way.....

  • @y2e1281 yay! more on my website!

  • very confused!

  • @flightstarwalker sorry. i hate video editing

  • Comment removed

  • sorry but i really cant understand it

  • At 3:42 you said all the black keys are going to be sharps. That is not true. The black keys are sharps for one natural note, and flats for the next natural note. I know that and I'm only in MUS-1301. You need to take lessons yourself dude.

  • :( .. i searched in the internet ( how to play piano ) but .. i don't have a piano .. and that's why i .. sometimes i don't understand some of the lessons ...

  • " Feel free to rate, subscribe, do whatever you want ". I vote for cracking open another beer. lawl.

  • awesome tutorials

  • @GamerX299 thanks Gamer!

  • Wow i learn so much with your videos, Thank you so much. You are really good at what you do! Peace

  • Amazing !!!

  • it means the same just flipped down so it has more space

    vvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvv

  • @redips14 yep!

  • what does it mean when notes are flipped upside down?

  • @greatgmasta same thing. just more legible to read

  • metal sucks

  • Metal sucks but 30 Seconds to Mars and Avril Lavigne don't? Come on dude...

  • No they don't....they actually sing:)

  • What does that have to do with the quality of the music? There's also plenty of metal with clean vocals. Those mediocre pop musicians aren't half as talented as 90 percent of the metal musicians out there.

  • Think you will find Avril Lavigne cannot sing without out the help of digital enhancement.

Plus I wouldn't even class them as metal. Metal forever!!!!!!

  • Metal has no rhythm lol

  • *Facepalm*

  • Actually, metal does have rhythm. You obviously have no expertise in music.

  • I think I have more expertise in music than you. I listen to Tori Amos and Björk.. you probably don't even know who they are because they don't get any airplay like these shit bands..

  • Actually, I do know who they are. My music library consists of music from classical, to music from other countries, to even the music that you enjoy and listen to. Unlike you, I analyze music on a level that you cannot even comprehend. Don't feel bad, you're only average. Or... well, maybe you are a little below that.

  • lol good one! Nice username, btw:)

  • Haha, thanks.

I usually enjoy arguing with people all over youtube. It's good to see you don't take my insults too seriously ^-^

  • @zoxEmoRoXasxoz nah i don't take anything too seriously

  • @zoxEmoRoXasxoz cool!

  • @batsarecool09 You are more expertise because you listen to Bjork?

Give me a break.. Bjork sounds like 10 cats dying in a trashcan.

  • @budbjames omg rofl

  • Unless you're clueless to what genre metal is, people do sing in metal bands.

The only bands no one sing in is called 'instrumental'.

  • how is that one underneath a C? the note with the line through it? it confuses me

  • Haha, don't worry about why its a C. Its actually called middle C, like he said. Its on the middle of a piano. Don't worry if a note isnt on the staff, it still connects with the notes above it/below it. Count down every note and you will see it is a C. thanks.

  • this is way better than the other piece of crap video that I saw just 3 minutes ago

  • @Kakasher123 cool!

  • its ok

  • type o negative yeahhhh

  • @metalstylex never heard them. any good?

  • the black notes can be FLats too, right??

  • If your moving left to right the black notes are all sharps, if you are moving right to left those same black notes now become flats. Its because as you move left to right the notes get higher or sharper, and right to left they get lower or flater. So really a c sharp and a d flat are the same exact note, they are just named differently depending on which direction you are moving.

  • @ak231510 or which key you're in. but you're right

  • yeah .

  • @JumbaJohn yes

  • You were quite wrong when you said that all the black notes are sharps in that

Point 1: they are also flats of the key that comes a semitone after the black key.

Point 2: some of the keys that are what are sharps and flats, (the 2 white keys that are together without being seperated by a black key.

  • @LawlietVV true. my bad

  • thanks dude that helped a lot

  • @letskate94 cool

  • Reading music is simple once you come to terms with looking at pictures, not words. Many people have difficulty with music because of the sheet music. My advice to strugglers is to practise, learn from others, and to try, try, and try again.

Great video, it's very educating. Keep it up!

At aarunt1: To read a sharp, the note on the scale (Say B-sharp) will be on the same line as a regular B, but will have a little hash next to it. (#B)

  • C is a b sharp.. its an inharmonic key..

  • I don't understand how to read the sharps. No one ever goes over this. Someone please help! Thanks

  • thanx so much! trying to find your "next weeks video"

  • no matter what I do or read I don't get it, I just can't get used to reading music. It's like I'm not capable and it sucks because I want to learn how to play piano so bad!

  • everything takes practice...

    remember that everytime..

if they can do it u can do it..

thats always in my mind if im learning something..

    so yeah...

don't tell ur self that u couldn't do it..

    thats my advise to you..

  • @humsters08 Ain't that the damn truth! I couldn't draw worth shyt. Now I can draw an entire scene. I couldn't produce music. Now I'm making awesome tracks. And now I will learn to read music to make my own music : D

  • I'm 74 years old now I learned to read music way be for I learned to play Piano in fact Once you learn To read music you can switch to any

Horn (Trumpet) Flute, Piano. Organ. Even Drums. They read music too.

  • you can always try learning by ear.

    but thats just as hard.

  • Playing by ear is what i used to do but i realised that you have to discover what each note is, work out the rythm etc and then practice it enough to rember what notes are played after each other.

By learning to read music all you have to do is become familiar with the keys and then just practice.

  • now that really made more sence thank's

  • That actually made sense

  • Thanks dude this is a very cool way to teach I always wanted to teach my daughter but I have no talent like you to do it so simple way to go man.

  • why would someonce actually fall for this, look how its written, obviously whoever made it up was a bored idiot......

  • thanks a lot i needed this

  • guys who invented sibelius went to my school!! nice vid to!

  • thank you.

  • im still confused :S coz like on the music im learning, it doesnt show the simble after a note to indicate to do a sharp or flat note :( i dont get it, i dont get when to play a shap/flat or not :( how do i know when to?

  • only play sharp and flat notes when it says to. Otherwise, play all natural notes ;) Do a search for sharps and flats at my website for more!

  • only play sharps and flats when it says to,

a flat half a note to the left and looks like a "b"

a sharp is half a note to the left and looks exactly like this, "#"

  • but there's some sheet music that tells you at the clef thingo to play sharps and flats but it doesnt say which note it is... i dunno how to explain it but yeh...

  • it's called the key signature. which ever accidental(s) is on the note line, those notes are played with the sharps or flats unless you get to a note in the piece that has a natural sign on it....did that make any sense at all?

  • not really :(

oh well, i'll try to learn :)

  • lol. when i first started taking music classes it took me forever to learn them but i just finished with my bachelor's degree in music ed. just hang with it. you'll get it.

  • everything i know about the piano is self taught, and i've searched ALL OVER the internet to learn how to read the music sheet but people make it too complicated, as if it were rocket science. it drove me crazy! so i thank you for being the first person to make the lesson something i could understand. plan, smack and simple thanks!

  • SAME STORY RIGHT HERE

  • @abigaillopez89 Hey! U know any place to learn sheet music?

  • BINGO,,thats just what i needed..
