This XDR-TB form was unique to South Africa, first found in 2003 but the original outbreak was contained by the University Stellenbosch medical team which had found the first patients. The second outbreak in 2005 was kept secret for a full year by the SA regime until the WHO actually published a report, warning that the patients must be isolated so the disease won't spread as healthy persons can also be infected by it, as with all TB-forms
