i so feel your pain nikki i have had reoccuring tonsilitis 3 different times 2 of the times were painful!! do you know what causes tonsilitis???

josh those are not tonsil stones trust me its tonsilitis sort of look the same and in the same area if u squeeze tonsilitis bacteria u will bleed and no stone will come out lol. u can confuse but tonsilitis is like a yellow white pus , tonsil stones u can just cough and they could fly out of mouth.

For those who still have gnarly tonsils & suffer with tonsillitis a lot: be sure to gargle with salt water & then again with Listerine twice a day. It helps to clear off the nastiness & germs that are trying to take hold & make you ill. Do whatever you can to keep your immune system at top notch (or if like myself you have a wonky immune system, AVOIDANCE of sick people at all times) & treat yourself well. Good food, good sleep & keep gargling!

@Jackalofdeath I never heard that. All I know is that my docs all recommend Listerine & warm salt water gargles to help keep it from getting worse. I'm currently dealing with getting those cruddy pus pockets that harden & stay trapped in in the pocked tonsil crevices & make yer breath smell like hot garbage. Yuck!

If we are talking about the antibiotics for the tonsilitis... some was covered by insurance but I still had to pay some.

well, in my country getting your tonsils out is like finding a hen with teeth, they don't dish out these procedures to hardly anyone. i am so frustrated, i waited 6 months suffering about 8 times with my tonsils, and when i finally went for a 6 and a half minute talk with a specialist, he said i wouldn't get the op because i wasn't sick enough....NOT SICK ENOUGH???? WTF???

I have tonsillitis it's my first time having it so i wont have mine taken out i have to take this yellow medicine because i cannot swallow tablets, it's totally horrible so white and gewwy at the back on the sides, and then it hurts when i swallow all the time, drink or food, and either side of my neck hurts.

yo ... it looks like you have some tonsil stones in there. check out some videos about tonsil stones, they're amazing. you can have them and not even know it because they don't always get inflamed, sometimes they just flare up occasionally. recurrent throat/tonsil infections may also indicate a food allergy ... just thought you might like to know. trust me, i'm in med school.

Aw, don't be scared.

It hurts-- that's for sure. If you have the medicine for it, it'll be gone in a week - tops. I had to take medicine for 10 days... but then I am allergic to Penicillin and Arythramyacin (the two most common drugs to combat tonsilitis.)

Just rest up, use this as a time to take a break from life. A breather as it were.

Anyway, I hope that helped :D

Now the docs think I have mono... I took a bloodtest today, and my results should be in by friday. I read somewhere that mono can be connected to HIV. Is this true...?

I'm not I'm really the one to ask about that... however, its pretty standard for them to take a blood test for mono, just because its better to be safe than sorry.

If you do have mono, it can be quite a bitch. However, hang tight until the results come in and deal with it then. I know that they took bloodtests almost everytime I had tonsilitis, and I've never had mono.

i used to get that all the time but i had my tonsils taken out when i was 11, and suprisingly after the annoying pain in my mouth and throat for like 2 weeks and not being able to talk for a while i was able to sing better after the surgery. if i were u i would definetley just get them out. anyway, feel better. ur a really good singer. keep singing, Stacy

I always get tonsilitis, but dont get them taken out, they are their for a reason (even though you will be told they are not), if you dint get the infection in your tonsils it would go somewhere else (worse) in your body :) hope you get better soon x
