  • How well does the MIM Standard Strat stay in tune?

  • @TheTylerGeissler I can make most Fender guitars stay in tune really well, but that is from lots of experience and it is not just how you play but how well the guitar is set up and adjusted to stay in tune...how you put your strings on...how fresh they are...how you stretched and tuned them...the weather...it all matters. I have several videos of different MIM Fender Standard Strats here where I get abusive with the bar and they hold their tune...my own Strat is a slightly modified MIM...

  • Will the neck begin to yellow more to a darker yellow color as you play it for a long time?

  • @bobspie4 Maybe if you smoke heavily (or play in smokey bars a lot)...lol. This is not a Nitro finish so it probably won't turn that gorgeous amber/yellow color that the vintage ones have.

  • @greengtrs awh, cause i ADORE that color on necks. especially on lighter strat bodies

  • @bobspie4 only if its a nitro finish..poly is too tough to yellow or wear..the plastic parts might tho

  • Beautiful strat brother! Best value strats by far!

  • @messybluesboy371 Thanks! I think so too!

Uh, I don't get it... your playing is for the most part tasty & cool, and that guitar is producing some exciting tones and harmonics. It's just a demo, people.

    Are those stock pickups ?

  • It's a relief to see somebody actually play, very nice demo. I bought a MIM Strat when they first came out..nice guitar but modded it to death. I own tons of guitars a lot of them very expensive. Just bought the new MIM Strat, used from MF, got a hundred bucks off for some pickguard scratches. They have improved since they first came out, I am highly impressed. Thought I would have to change pickups right off but sounds great. This thing plays better than my $2000 custom shop tele.

  • I have had a MIM for about 15 years. It still sounds just as good as the day I brought it home. I told the guy I wanted the cheapest strat they had. I played a Squire, Mexican and an American Standard. The Squire was absolute GARBAGE! The american standard was expensive and very well made. I played the $300 TEX MEX strat and that was the end of it, I bought it. Mine has a humbucker bridge pickup. I like the sound a little more and haven't seen one like that since.

  • @hypr0040 What you have is called a Fat Strat now...great guitars! I had an American Standard for years...even did some mods, but I like the feel of the Mexican necks better, so I change out some electronics and the pickups and I am very happy...that's what I proudly use these days for a Strat...

  • @greengtrs YES! I forgot about the neck and how different it feels. The American standard, it felt like I was holding a baseball the neck was so round.

  • @greengtrs Hi what pickups did you put into your strat? and if you have time can you reccommend a couple of different types. Thanks.

  • @Quovardis83 These were just stock pickups...my own Strat is a Cream White MIM with a Maple neck/fingerboard (from a Deluxe) with Fender Custom Shop '60's pickups (hotter than a normal 50's sounding set) but I am planning on replacing them with the Fender Hot Noiseless set (I am preparing for some important live shows and can't have the hum which I don't really mind for most local gigs)...check out my channel for some demo's with that guitar and I also did one with an EMG David Gilmour set-up...

  • @Quovardis83 I like Fender pickups...and it depends on YOUR tastes and budget...I don't like super high output clean pickups (like EMG's or Joe Bardin's)...I'm more of a slightly hot sound with just a bit more output than normal...I get all the gain I need from my amp. Duncan's and Dimarzio's have made me happy in the past...I don't like the Lace Sensors...I do like Fralin pickups (and they do expert repair on almost all pickups)...you have to put them in YOUR guitar to really know though...

  • wiuld u mind telling me in what year the strat was made

  • @bengimom I can't remember on this one...I try to put the year on them now (in the title) as I've done a lot of MIM Fender Standard Strat videos now and will be doing more...sorry...check out some of my other videos as they have the years on them...

  • I have looked high and low for a place to buy MIM strats on the internet. Can you shed some light on where to buy one? btw nice playing

    Thanks.

  • @christopherashland71 I deal in used guitars (and some of my favorite accessories) and almost always have some to offer...or at least I try to as I think they are amazing values (and use them myself). I have 2 at the moment...both blue with maple fingerboards...if you don't mind used (and they usually run between $350-400 including shipping for the U.S. give or take depending on condition), send me a message via my channel page...

Thanks for the compliment...and thanks for watching!

  • @christopherashland71 try w w w. samash .c o m, if you live in GA, their store is really good and they have a MIM standard fender strat for $500.

  • thank you for not playing blues like everyone else

  • @44eelz Thank you for appreciating what I do...I tend to take a lot of flac for not doing what everyone else does...or shredding...I just do what I do and don't think too much about it generally...have fun and then hope that someone appreciates it (and if nobody does then at least I had fun)...thanks for watching and commenting!

  • do you think that a 275 for a 1996 mim strat is a good deal?

  • @frenchfriedfrenchmen That's a little less than they went for back then new but a great deal these days as long as everything works (dings and dents are no problem but a working truss rod is a must and any other screws should be able to be moved/not rusted in place...pickups should all work...a scratchy tone or volume pot is no big deal...) and hopefully it doesn't need a fret job (but a little bit of wear is no big deal as long as all the notes sound clearly and any ruts don't hamper bending).

  • are these good for all styles, i will only play rock, blues and jazz, but is is good for country i always heard teles where better for that?

  • @tom27j In my opinion, you can use these for just about anything! Tele's have maybe a hair bigger range between ultra bright and deep and they don't have a middle pickup to get in your way if you fingerpick or pick right in the middle...and of course no trem either...I like the 2 and 4 position sounds (of the 5 way pickup selector) so much though that I almost always lean toward Strat's.

  • @tom27j Teles are good for rock and country, but strats can cover anything except super heavy, but u can switch out the pickups for EVERYTHING

  • yeah buy a mim any day of the week, the us fenders are redicilously overprised, not worth it in my book, practically the same guitar, the us folks think they are best at everything but really not,

  • I bought a used Supersonic 60, combo on Craigslist for $650 and changed out the Chinese Celestion for a Eminence Private Jack. i invested a total of less than $750!! The amp sounds fantastic. It is the perfect gigging amp. I have oranges, boogies, traynors...etc... and this the supersonic is unique and super versatile. i highly recommend it. Oh btw I sometimes use a mexistrat with Taylor single couils and it sounds great.

  • Really great looking strat. Do you know what year it is?

  • I have a Mexican standard and American standard strat and I play the MIM strat everyday. Great guitars for under $500.

  • @kmacnumber2 There are three kinds of strats. Made in Japan, Made in Mexico, and Made in America..... by mexicans. Rosa has been winding the pickups there for a decade and a half at least

  • ok,thank you very much, you play the guitar awesome

  • good video but i have 2 questions, wich is the price of the super sonic amp? and, how many watts have?

  • @guitarmaster205 They go for around $600 - $800/900 Used and between $1000 - $1300/1400 New these days...they are 60 watts of tube power which is LOUD!!!! Tube watts are worth more than double the amount on a solid state amp not that you can compare them...I can barely get my clean volume over 2/2.5 and the burn channel over 3/3.5 without shaking the house.

  • @greengtrs 60 tube watts are you kidding me?! and you have that beast in your house? man i bet your neighbors HATE you......

  • mais va la bruler ta strat

  • @ rattlehead15 ireland is actually a cheap place to live. The houses are like 5 times cheaper. :)

  • I've done a fair bit of research into this guitar. I hear tonnes of good things from the guitar. I'm planning to purchase one for €460.

I have a nice new red pearl pickguard fitted with a set of EMG SV pick ups to go with the black body along with a new original floyd rose ready to be fitted by a luthier. Gonna be fucking epic!

Badly needed a decent guitar for recording my music. It's all well and good having studio equipment, but when you don't possess a decent guitar, it sucks!

  • @Rattlehead15 Damn I am glad I live in the states. I just got a used 2004 MIM fat strat in midnight wine with rosewood fretboard, a monster cable, and a gig bag for 200 USD. But I bought vintage knobs and pickup covers, a new case and had a fret dress and setup so I spent $420.

But still I feel bad for the Europeans, the markup there is insane. Travel to the states and hit Craig's List in a major city for a cheap used MIM.

  • @TheNapoleon1815 Yeah €460 is the cheapest I can find in the EU. I did buy my Floyd Rose and pick ups from the states but was hit with massive custom duty fees. Fuckin' ridiculous! I live in Ireland (one of the most expensive places to live)..... life's a bitch!lol

  • this is actually a very useful video. thanks. anyone know if the 2000 mexi strat is any good? thinkin of buyin for 275. ?

  • @mrpantsattack I've got 3 demo's here that are for 2000 MIM Strats (and the quality is better on all of those as they are with an actual video camcorder, I talk/explain on them, and I think the playing is better on them as well) you can type in "greengtrs" and "2000" as keywords in a search and they should be towards the top of the list...there are 2 blue ones with rosewood boards and another black one...one of the blue ones takes a heap of whammy bar abuse. I love them myself! Enjoy/Subscribe!

  • it sounds like youre playing Achilles Last Stand by Zeppelin at some parts

  • Fricken Mexicans are really strong. I can't even loosen em' screws to install my Lace PUPS. These MIM strats are really hardcore.

  • For the money + a new set of pickups, I'd take the MIM all day unless the MIA was free.

  • @joshie4330 There are some pretty amazing Mexican Fender's out there now...which is not to say that there aren't some amazing US made ones as well...it's just that they will most likely cost you at least 3 times as much (and you may wind up replacing the pickups anyways).

  • I have a 2004 model that I bought before the price hike for 275 bucks and I love it, I eventually changed out the pickups for an EMG pickup set, they just had too much buzziness through my amp. Does anyone know if the new MIM strats have that same issue or are the pickups much better now cause I'm on the fence about purchasing a USA model or another MIM model and just wonder if they've improved?

  • @beetlemaster07 Fender single coil pickups traditionally hum...they make some great noiseless pickups these days though that still retain the basic Fender sounds (much closer at least than a set of EMG's).

  • @beetlemaster07

Another option could be seymour duncan mini-humbuckers for strats, they slot straight in without modding the pickguard, but the rade-off is you lose a bit of the tradtional fender strat sound. I also think SD SSL4 Quarter Pound Flats sound good, also check out lace sensors. All strats which you purchase new unless you go for an American Deluxe with Samarium Cobalt noiseless pickups or a uniquely specified custom shop will have single coils with 60 cycle hum.

  • I picked up my MIM strat at a pawn shop for 75 buck's in almost brand new condition, with hard case and whammy bar. the fools at the pawn shop listed it in their computers as a starcaster ahahaha!

  • @Spiegel420 Good find!

  • @Spiegel420

    aint it a squier series?

  • @nirson123 thats the thing, its not, its a fender, that why i was soooooooo stoked to find it

  • @Spiegel420 dude what a steal you are so lucky. i have a starcaster right now man lol

  • @Spiegel420 since pawn shop normally make money from their purchases, did they pay even less for it? lol good deal. what city is this pawn shop in?

  • fabulous sound and great playing, thanks for posting!

  • interesting when you use the pick-ups closeer ot the neck, then the nearest to the bridge, way different.

Obviously, the harmonics come through better using that back pick-up.

  • That's ideal with any kind of pickups, single coil and humbucking alike. Bridge pickup should IDEALLY have more gain. I say ideally because some people like to experiment with putting the neck pickup in the bridge and vice a versa.

  • surely it's just that it's made (assembled?) in Mexico. In other words, Fender exploited Mexican labour.

The parts are probably as good as any Strat

Once owned a cheery- red bird's eye maple strat, 1970s. It had no whammy, was not routed out. That instrument would now be worth a lot

  • Exactly...I don't know if anything has changed, but it was USA parts assembled and finished in Mexico...bodies and necks came off the same machines as the US models and actually felt more like a vintage model than the American Standard series.

Yes your old '70's guitar would be worth probably 3 or 4 or more of these...

  • A friend put a 1950s vintage pick-up near the bridge. That pick-up had two centre magnets that were raised moreso than the others. Well, it's all history now......

Like the sounds you are getting here in the vid. It's the perfect strat sound.

  • i to have a mexican strat and i agree with what you are saying to be honest i find my mexican strat to best any of the usa strats that i have tried

  • @Guevaristas

I've heard a few people say that, while it's the same type of wood, the stuff is of a lesser quality in the MIM guitars. Dunno, that's just what I've heard. I've got one of these things with a SD Hot Rails in the bridge. Great guitar.

  • Is the Pick up switch set so that the bottom spot is the Bridge?

  • hey how do u make your sting lay really close to the neck (starting from the side of the neck that is cloest to the buddy to the MIddle of the neck the high frets)

i have a copy of fender strat(crescent 70$), the neck was bent so i sent to repair (42$)when i got it back, the strings were still considerably laying far from the neck, little less( "the parts stated above, the high frets)

id expect the string and neck look like ur guitar on the video

    why is this

  • @betryke2 everyone uses the bridge to fix the height of the strings. I tried a shimmy under the nut and was able to lower bridge back down...alot.

  • why get 3 singles coils when u can get 2 single coils and a humbucker (HSS)

  • Tone...you can't really get that true Strat tone with a humbucker in the bridge even if you can put in a switch to split it to single coil...half a humbucker won't sound exactly like a single coil and then there is the angle unless you are going to angle the humbucker. But if you want that humbucker tone in the brigdge position and don't care about the classic Strat tone, then go for it...I used a guitar like that for many years and was happy...it depends on your tastes and what you are playing.

  • @betryke2 Honestly, I see no difference. Could you please explain it to me?

  • i see a lot of people write (MIM) for fender strats what does MIM mean?

  • Made In Mexico...

  • thanks...?

  • @betryke2 Dumbass

  • I have a 95 MIM Black Standard. I love the thing. I use it for 75% of my set list when I play local. It is still factory set up.

  • Yeah...tone is over-rated!

But seriously, this is only a stock Mexican Strat...and it was recorded on a relatively cheap digital camera set on video mode with the built in mic...for what it's worth it was still the stock speaker in the amp which I've since replaced with a Hellatone 30 which sounds much "creamier". It doesn't sound too bad though for a $400ish guitar...better than almost everything else in that price range...and imagine what some good pickups could make it sound like.

  • dude....if that strat was seafoam green...hella sexy, man!!!

  • If it had been Seafoam Green, I would probably still have it!

  • I've tried SFG strat and it has a very tiny sound. This black standard is way better laying in hands, and it has a more bluesy sound. SFG is like s toy guitar..

  • Color don't make the guitar...maybe you were playing a different model...then again, no 2 guitars are alike...same color or not because no 2 pieces of wood sound the same. And SFG looks great!

  • you're right, but that's why I said it about the colour - because you play Fender Standard Strat RW BLK, and SFG is Fender 50s Stratocaster® with differnet features (your guitar has "C" neck shape, SFG has soft "V" neck shape, etc..

So there is no such a thing as Fender Standard start in SFG colour..

  • Actually there have been so many limited edition runs of all sorts of models in SFG that I would be surprised if there wasn't at least a small batch of Standard's out there in it. And regarding what you said, a good example of a 50's Strat has tone to die for...but like I said, no two are alike and even pickups can be slightly different from batch to batch...year to year...Mexican or Japanese...or maybe a real Vintage U.S.A. or USA reissue...etc, etc...

  • nice Demo man, good job and you really went through all the sounds

  • ugly guitar, but the amp and the player sound nice. going to buy that supersonic soon.

  • It's only ugly because theirs a white pickgaurd over a black body. Now, if it was black on black, it would be tasty just like David Gilmour's strat.

  • Fender Strat is the best....greetings from Germany

    jens

  • Sounds Nice to me!

  • .

    i like my squiers/i have a rose wood and and a maple neck...both have mex-tex pic-up's. i have a parts one too.

think it's japan body and neck/texas special, play these 3 strat all the time i want one of those classic vibe, awsome

    sound for the price

i would consider a highway one.

    woulldn't change anything /

i play throuhg a vox cambridge 15 with a line in a tranor custam valve 40/and i go through a peavey accelerated over drve and a dunlope cry baby 535Q.

    to the amp

    .

  • what does MIM mean?

  • made in mexico. Its american parts assembled by mexican factories then sent back to america

  • hey, i bought a new MiM a while back, any suggestions for pickups? id like i really nice clean tone, and its an HSS too

    Thanks

  • I'd say check out seymour duncan jazz pickups if you're looking for clean tones.

  • @Niksayshi dimarzio for single coils! then seymour duncan custom humbuckers!

  • Whats HSS mean?

  • It means the bridge is a humbucker, the bridge is a single coil, and the neck is a single coil.

  • Humbucker, Single Coil, Single Coil it's to do with the pickup arrangement :)

  • humbucker on the bridge, then single coil and single coil

  • Like nahue89 said - Also If a guitar has the sign 'HH' after it it means like Humbucker and Humbucker (e.g. Fender Jaguar HH) just so you get the idea.

  • i play one every day at school. im getting a mexican tele though its just more my style

  • Great tone...Fender best......I want playing with this amp but with an Pre CBS Strat and a CBS 70,s Strat of my friend for have an idea of the power and the monster sound of this amp...

For me Strat made in mexico are not a guitars....

    Hello, 5 stars video however

  • The only reason most people like 70's era Strats is because they are old...and they can't afford a 50's or 60's era Strat. In the 80's, most 70's era Fender was considered to be crap...which is not entirely true (there were some good ones...just like there are some bad 50's/60's era guitars). Just like people, judge each guitar on it's own individual merits...and I have to say I really like most of the Fender Mexican guitars and basses...it's not rocket-science and they do a good job these days.

  • Yes but partially agree...yes the PRE CBS STRAT 50's 60's have indescribable purchase costs also for me.... but the technique construction of the old times ( Timber quality, hand painting, labor handmade....ect) is not comparable in any case with the current new also Masterbuilt Custom shop and the old Mexican and also 70's Strat....

I have playing Mexican Strat, Pre CBS Strat ,and CBS Strat.....As sound the mexican are the worst in all senses...at least for the my ears.....

  • I have a parts Strat made up of stuff I have gotten over the many years...my first Strat copy body (made in Japan) from 1974, a Mexican neck, and USA parts (trem, pots, switch, jack) including Custom Shop pickups...the pickups are one of the easiest things to change and probably the most important thing regarding the plugged in sound...and the strings too...they can make a huge difference. I'll try to do a video soon...

    Thanks for watching!

  • ohhh thanks to you for the video post!!!!!!!!

    Great....

  • The perfect color/fretboard for strat - black/white pickguard and maple fretboard. It's my favourite one. I don't know why you dislike the glossy necks.. They feel and look perfectly fine when broken in.

  • I'm not really that picky...if it has a good acoustic ring and resonance I'm happy. If I have my choice and money is not involved in that decision, I prefer a Nitro finish if possible...glossy too...I'm just not crazy about the thick Urethane finishes (like on the Japanese ones), it seals the tone in and doesn't let all the awesome wood sound out...and I certainly like the feel of the MusicMan necks...unfinished and rubbed with Tung oil...but glossy or not, the less finish, the better for tone.

  • hello!! i' m from mexico... and i so a guitar player to, and i have a question for you..

what a hell u use a Fender Mexican instruments. and don't the USA made?

i don't say the mexican are bad.. but the USA are better that mexican.. and look better. in you country is cheap buy instruments, in mexico is so expensive EVERYTING about musical instruments. in most cases u can't se a instruments like fender's Gibson's and in my only ones i so a PRS..

    bye..

  • Hola amigo,

1st...I buy and sell guitars (but only stuff I like myself)...almost all of these videos (check some of the more recent ones out) are of guitars that I've sold.

2nd...I've owned tons of guitars...I like the feel of the mexican necks better than most of the "American" models...they feel more like a vintage neck but have bigger (and easier for me to play) frets...my own current Strat is made up of parts...Jap body, American guts, Mexican neck...and it rocks!

    Thanks for watching!

    Adios!

  • Oh dude have you SEEN the new MIA necks? They have a glossy look to them I mean they are literally shiny in the light! I think it's ugly as hell IMO and doesn't give it that vintage look that most memorable strats have!

My '99 MIA strat didnt have it, but too bad i pawned it a long time ago! Oh well, picking up my MIM tomorrow, got one picked out at guitar center! Peace and nice playin!

  • Yeah, I've seen them...not the first ones with that thick glossy coating...I prefer a thin finish for both looks and tone. I've got 4 MIM Strats for sale at the moment...3 are near mint and one is in good condition but has a few "beauty marks"...what color and neck are you looking for...mine all come feeling new...polished frets and cleaned up and set up better than how they come from the factory. This is why I do the videos...and I've got 100% positive feedback on nearly 200 eBay transactions.

  • Dude, they are more than twice the cost and I used to have one, I think it was nice but not worth 2 times as much.

  • Maple on a Tele... Noooooo way, I like my Rose wood too much dude

  • Please see my reply to the comment directly below yours...if you want that guy who asked to see your response of course...most Tele's are maple by the way...and I like Rosewood myself on the majority of my guitars but do like Maple and Ebony here and there...and Maple on a Fender is kind of a natural thing...of course if I could only have one guitar, it would have a Rosewood fingerboard...

    Thanks for watching Mr. Hicks!

  • You have to reply directly to the guys comment for him to see it...but thanks for watching, commenting, and just participating in general anyways!

  • Hey Guys, Please Help me decide on Maple Fretboard or Rosewood Fretboard......Im going for a Made In Mexico Fender Standard Strat, I would be playing lead guitar as well as rythmn......I play All kind of music, Country, Blues, Rock and Metal, I have a guitar for metal though its an ESP ex 260 with Rose Wood Fretboard, Please Help!!!!!!!!!

  • Maple will be just a little brighter sounding...Rosewood a little warmer sounding...not a huge difference, but a little...they both still sound like a Strat...it will be harder to keep the Maple looking nice after many years of use. As far as feel goes, some people like to claim Maple as being "faster", but if you play with a lighter touch (which is better), you probably won't be touching the fingerboard...and if the frets are medium size (most are) you would be bending notes sharp anyways.

  • If you are playing all those styles and you like the maple why not go for a Tele ? I got a made in Mexico jobbie and it rocks. By the way my previous comment should have said .... 'Maple on a Strat' not maple on a tele.... way too early in the day for me guys.

  • Hey man. Can you explain to me what MIM stands for? I'm looking to buy a used Mexi MIM Strat and just gut it and get some gear from ACME Guitar Works. But I just want some help in defining the MIM part. Thanks - A.Train

  • Hi A.Train...Made In Mexico...and don't gut it until you've played it for a while...not that much needs to be replaced...string tree for starters (if you use the trem...and I recommend that for any Strat, regardless of price) and pickups (/pots...)...the rest is pretty good...also for what it's worth, I have 3 essentially (just shy of) mint condition used ones for sale...write/message me if you are interested.

    Thanks for watching!

  • Hah. It's so obvious now. Thanks man.

  • MiM = Made in Mexiko

  • MIM just stands for made in Mexico. There are also MIA strats which are Made in America that cost about three times as much.

  • What pickups are those Mr Greegtrs?

  • This guitar was totally stock...check out some of the newer videos for a better idea of the actual sound (this old camera was a bit lacking in the quality department).

    Thanks for watching!

  • is that stock pickups? i like the tone

  • Yes...this guitar was completely stock...check out some of the newer videos...this camera sucked for quality of the videos including the sound.

    Thanks for watching!

  • The way you do your vibrato is way good. Very good guitarist :)

  • Thanks!

  • Wow! Bro I hope I can Play like you one day! You tore that thing apart!

  • Thanks again!

  • ok thx for ur help

  • does it go out of tone easy with or without the whammy bar in

  • Not if it's set-up right (and you put the strings on "right")...and the nut is cut just right...and...and...and they can stay in tune pretty well...check out some of my other standard strat demo's (I've got a bunch)...especially the one with the Graphtech upgrades...I give 'em some whammy bar abuse!

  • have you ever made a vid step by stepping the hot rodding process for those of us who've never done it??

  • in tune? Check

good volume level for camera? Check

kick ass blues country licks? Check

Proving what i say every day about my MIM strat. It ain't the paint and the wood, it's the fingers make it good.

  • Thanks! That's quite a few really nice compliments! And yes, Mexican Strat's are one of the best deals going! Sure there are some subtle differences in the various woods and finishes used, but this still sounds like a Fender and if you were to upgrade the pickups, then they sound even better than this! I'm piecing together a parts guitar made with an old '74 Jap copy (probably Poplar) body with a Mexican Fender neck and mostly Fender parts (trem/pickups). I'll post a video soon with the results.

  • WOW! Your tones are amazing. I am actually going to buy a mim strat today. What effects do you have going for that clean sound?

  • Hi and thanks! I don't use any effects...I'm just plugged straight into the amp. I'm not even using the reverb that's built in. For what it's worth, I've got 4 near mint condition Mexican Strats I'm getting around to listing now...what color and what neck are you looking for?

  • I'm not too picky about colors. It really depends on the price. Do you get feedback with any of your mim strats?

  • I can get feedback with just about anything...but these don't squeal too bad...I didn't have to change any of the amp settings and I have to back the gain and tone down for some pickups...everything was on 10 on the dirty channel...so they handled pretty well. Send me a message via my channel and we can discuss colors and other options...

    Thanks,

    Howard

  • Yes I am trying to buy one of these atm! Awesome playing and tone there buddy. In the US they are so much cheaper than here in the UK. :(

  • Thanks! Out of curiosity (and to see if it is worth my while to market my eBay ads there...I've got about 4 in mint condition I'll be listing soon), what do they go for new/used there? Thanks for watching!

  • Sorry for the long wait for a reply! I would be very interested on buying if you do list them :D.

Often around £300 but it varies depending on the dates etc...For ones 'like new' it is higher of course.

  • i love your tone

  • Thanks! All the newer videos have a better camera so the sound quality is way better...that and I changed the speaker and added a 2x12 extension cab. Thanks for watching!

  • wonderful guitar and sound! I would like to have a mim strat. Here in Brazil they are expensive.

  • Thanks!

What's your price range delivered (keep in mind that I would have to take it apart to send it due to size restrictions in Brazil and your government will impose duties/taxes/brokerage fees, etc. on top of the price too)?

  • man, a really appreciate your kindness, but the problem is that I don´t have any money. I could hardly pay a crappy squier, then I almost died again to pay some fender noiseless pickups and put them on it. and the money I spent on this squier is not even close to the price of a mexican fender strat. but thank you anyway.

  • might i suggest craigs list i got a 2008 hss made in mexico strat for 250

  • Question... On ebay i found a deal. from a 2001 MiM standard strat. 1.99 for bridge pickup, 6.49 for neck pickup. everything plus shipping came to 13 bucks. its from the stock strat. im putting them in my custom squier(new neck, custom paint job, Floyed rose, locking nut) do you think thaat was a good deal? my middle pickup is a seymore duncan hot rail. is is an sss squier. If you care, my custom paint job is an EVH style, dark green background, gold stripes...

  • Sounds like a cool looking paint job...but I'm a sucker for green guitars. If you already have a Duncan Hot Rails in the middle, then you are going to need better pickups to match it...but they will be better than what you've got. Post a video and send it to me so I can see the paint job!

  • so you think for 14 dollars, its a good upgrade? i just dont have hundreds of dollars right no. when i hit 600, im getting an ltd f-2e. oh, and im gonna try to get a video up with my friends camera

  • There's going to be a big difference in output...which might not be so bad if you put the Hot Rails at the bridge position...I'm about to demo a 1989 Standard American Strat with a Hot Rails at the bridge. Are you going to do the install yourself and how much is the shipping?

  • yes, i know how to do it myself... it was 13.25 all together with shipping... 5 dollars shipping

  • Good deal then...put the Hot Rails in the bridge position...

  • Jim Dunlop Tortex .88 mm picks?

  • Yes...the green ones...

  • I love Strats

  • lol 2:18 hurt my ears :p

nothing against the playing; it was an awesome jam.

  • it seems that he is playing a heavier string Gauge. I own that same guitar and it does not sound that good. But he is a good guitarist though. Great tone very FAT

  • Thanks! This is an old video so I can't be sure, but it is probably a set of (most likely D'addario XL's, possibly Ernie Ball) .009 - .046's which is what I generally play on all my electric guitars..if not that then it would just be a regular set of .009 - .42's. The tone is even better these days because I switched out the speaker in the amp and added an Avatar 2x12 cabinet...all 3 speakers are Hellatone 30's now...that and I got a better quality video camera. Thanks for watching!

  • nice job. you know back in 2006 when fender did the major upgrades on the MIM standards. the quality of craftmanship on the body's and neck's rival most MIA strats. the days that your strat had to be made in the usa to be worth somthing are long gone. the MIM standard strat is simply brilliant! i would by a MIM just as fast as a MIA strat.

  • You know, it first depends of the amont of gain. I use to play a .11 - .52 gauge and following the music my sounds are from clear and brilliant to highly overdriven.

  • So if the fender strat is just deluxe, standard, vintage. Its MIM. But if says something line Fender American Standard Strat is most definitely made in USA.

  • Best way to check is by the serial # because there are Deluxe Mexican's and Deluxe US models as well as Vintage series guitars made in both places (specific year as in '62 reissue Strat would be US where as a '60's reissue Strat would be Mexican). If the serial # begins with an 'M', it is Mexican made for sure.

  • I used to be a Gibson fan...

NOW I HAVE SEEN THE LIGHT! :D

  • nice jam, please tab :D (joke)
