Hello Carl I winder if you could answer a question for me. I am fairly new to woodturnig and notice that I am suffering a bit of back ache when at the Lathe for a long period, Is there a rule of thumb for the height of the lathe relative to your body? I suspect that mine is too low. Standing up straight, where should the lathe centre be.
The rule of thumb is, standing at your headstockshould be level with your arm bent at the elbow. I have my lathe on blocks to achieve the right height.
Hey that look Beautiful!! i was wondering if you could make a wood apple. i keep seeing them online and dont get how to make it, i get how to get one side but how do you turn it around?
Thanks for all the videos Carl, I've really enjoyed them all. As for the hot glue, one area of issue for me , was I first used the small craft glue gun, the glue was too thin and would start to harden too quickly, making for a weak joint to the scrap. Switched to the larger glue gun and no problems since. So I recommend staying away from the smaller glue guns.
Carl, Thanks for posting another great turning video. Nice looking box. When you are sanding, do you clean all the wax/oil/dust off the piece between grits or just move on to the next in the sequence?
Very nice Carl, thanks for sharing
