Why don't felons have to pay instead of us? What about if we make it a law that anyone who CANNOT own/carry/possess a firearm have a large bright pink sticker on their rear window and their windshield alerting officers to whomever isn't supposed to have 1 in the vehicle. If you're a convicted felon, you can't ride in a car that doesn't have a pink ticket on it. No, this will NEVER happen, as it might hurt someone's feelings. If it did, it would become a fashion statement to have 1 on your car.
I live in GA and not once in the 13 years I've been here have I ever wished I had a firearm in the car. I say this to rebutt one person's claim of "all that crime down there." Granted, like any major metro area there are some safer places and places where I would not set foot (SW Atlanta). I am glad this law passed to legally carry a concealed weapon in the car so at least I have the option without the hassle of getting a permit. Still, I just don't feel the need to carry a gun in the car.
A law abiding citizen could have a full on arsenal in the car with them and they would be no more threat to a cop than the trucks and cars passing on the road during the stop. Criminals don't research or adhere to any laws and will aquire anything they set their minds to getting. If I were a cop I would want everyone to be armed so that I am never alone during a hostile situation. Anyone that thinks a cop will be there when the shit goes down is a moron. This is not rocket science people!
the difference between the citizen and criminal is that even if you are an 'unstable' ass citizen...all you need to see is someone like you get crazy with cops only to see the story end with that civee face down on the hot pavement.
civilians, even unstable ones will be less willing to risk getting turned into popcorn or jail time.
@gocolts1490 Thats nice that you want to move to Georgia but if you disagree with your states laws then instead of abandoning it you should try and change it. That's what this country is all about, take pride in your state so we can all enjoy laws like these in Georgia. I think that we all need to,especially citizens of California, challenge all the ridiculous laws for licensing and getting permits. That's my home state and I resume to do just that when I get back from college.
@NosoCOMINSOON i agree. its just hard because i live in massachusetts which is one of the most liberal states in the country so it's hard when i'm alone in the battlefield ya know.
I'm very liberal socially and am also a gun owner.
That said, I think having a ccw permit would make no difference. The person who would shot a police officer or anyone without proper justification wouldn't heed concealed carry laws anyway. The people who would obey these laws are the probably people who are responsible with their weapons in the first place.
More left wing propaganda. The likelihood of someone throwing a fit and shooting someone? "The fear of weapons is a sign of sexual and emotional retardation".
I have no problem with a law abiding citizen of the US carrying a firearm. Concealed or open carry. It's our God given right to be able to defend ourselves. The SC removed any responsibility to protect the private citizen from the Police and facts are that the only thing that can protect you, is YOU. It is a fact that in cities where gun ownership is encouraged that the violent crime rate drops.
What everyone seems to be forgetting is that criminals aren't going to have a CCW or abide by any laws which restrict them in carrying or owning a firearm. It's a deterrent if the criminals think everyone is potentially carrying. Plus carrying in the open only makes you a target.
I have a CCW permit and carry the handgun in my car and my person. I don't really know how I feel about this law. Basically you are being allowed to carry the gun concealed "in your car" whether you got a permit or not. weird...
I have (unfortunately) been pulled over a few times with a firearm in my car. I've even got a little pissed off at a couple cops, but I didn't reach for my "piece" as soon as my heart started pumping. Same goes for the many times people have cut me off on the roads. I don't start shooting randomly.
What difference does it make if the weapon is concealed or in plain view on the seat, if someone is going to use a gun it won't matter if they have a permit or not or where in the vehicle it is. A permit doesn't garantee good behavior.
Why should a free, law abiding citizen have to have a permit to exercise a constitutionally protected right? If criminals want to ILLEGALLY shoot someone, do you think they give a rats ass that it is ILLEGAL for them to have the weapon that they plan to break the law with anyway??

so i can carry my handgun without a permit with rounds in the clip and not get in trouble if its on the seat?

I know that Kentuckians can have guns in their glove compartments without a permit. Just check the local laws, they're often very specific.

The critics can move to another country and live under some other constitution.

This video is miss leading... because the law actually states that you could keep a loaded gun in the car console... WITHOUT a permit.
Having the permit makes you legally able to put the gun any where you want, under the seat etc, or just to carry it on your body with a holster.

It's misleading... not Miss Leading... And uh... Are you on drugs?

Why would you want non-CCW permit holders to hide guns under car seats again?
