Give me another piece, 'cause after I eat, gonna jump on my feet and dig the beat. then sit on down for another treat. Grab your girl by her sweater, and let 'er share some of this, you just can't miss and it don't get no better!

  • I Absolutely Agree With you Lester1Beck Best Dam Rhythm I have Ever Heard -The Simplest Drumming ,That's all you need to do ,To Be One Of The Worlds Greatest Drummers...

  • look for "Big Joe Turner / Pete Johnson 1938 - Roll 'Em Pete"

  • Oh man, I used to own a copy of this fast version of the song, but every album I've bought since has the earlier slow version. Thank you so much for posting this version, it's just one of the best jump blues tracks ever.

  • I think THIS is where The Three Little Bops got their inspiration from, for their fantastic sound ...

  • Early 50s rock n roll don't get any better than this !! Sizzling boogie .. how can one possibly stand still while this one is on the turntable .. you just gotta get up & jive & shake your stuff, all over ... the further this song progresses, the better it gets ... hot-damn !!

  • I'm pretty sure that's Earl Palmer on drums--the man who invented rocknroll drumming. This is REAL R&B not this watered down beat box crap they play nowadays which bears no resemblance whatsoever.

  • @Kirke182

Charles'Hungry'Williams was on drums for Amos Milburn session

  • Brilliant!

  • Sounds like the might be the same musicians that were used on Little Richard's early Specialty recordings.

  • schöne musik

  • Great!

  • Simply Put, The Best Groove That Ever Was

  • Simply put, The Best Groove That Ever Was!

  • This was a huge R&B hit in -- 1948!

  • @horarwgt The 1948 version was slower without the drum, in R&B style. This is the 1956 "rock and roll" remake. The drum makes all the difference.

  • YEAH!!!!

  • Brilliant! This is the sound of rock'n'roll, but 6 or 7 years earlier- shows how the sound of boogie-woogie piano (-playing driving eighth notes) combined with the heavy snare drum back beat (on 2nd and 4th beat of the bar) - to give you an irresistible driving beat.

Was this 60 years ago? sounds as fresh as if it was recorded just 60 MINUTES ago!

  • @davetaylorbluespiano No this was 54 years ago. The 60 years ago version was the big hit for Amos in 1948, but it was a slow rolling blues version, not rocking like this 1956 version.

  • So F-cking great!!! This is early rock n roll

  • Jump baby!

  • WHAT AN ARTIST ! This stuff should be compulsory listening for all teenagers !!

  • this is the re recorded track its got more felling just get in there and roll along you can tell amos is enjoying him self

  • Believe this version was cut in New Orleans, rather than version from LA, different band,I prefer this version,

    G

  • What a rockin' song! Doesn't get any better than this. I can picture people lindy hopping to this one.

  • Hep-da-hootie, teenage cutie. Gonna jump on the stump and bang and bump. Good cug-a-luga mooga. Workout.

  • Yowsah bowsah an reet to beet!

  • Fantastic!!! Fantastic!!!

My legs begin to dance themselves...

    :>)))

  • smokin'

  • This is a remake from his 1948 classic recorded in New-Orleans in 1956...Great..Superb.

It is a pitty he could not capture the rock 'n roll sound....as did Fats domino. Why this song wasn't a rock 'n roll classic remains a question.

  • Hey jodege46 on what CD can i find this

version of "Chicken schack boogie" ??

I only have the older version..and..a yeah..

    appreciate your help..

  • adventure09, I have the '49 version of this song on 2 CDs: "Let The Good Times Roll, Vol 2" and "Aladdin Magic: Rocks and Rolls." The latter is kind of hard to find.

  • This song was just named as one of the all time best dance songs in a UK newspaper; they were right. This is my first time hearing it and it is impossible to stay still when listening.

  • Do you have a copy of that article?

  • from the sound of this music, i would guess that it takes the place in american music just before the Rock and Roll era (late 50's)

    i'm interested in learning more.

  • it was a number 1 over xmas 1948-49 ,on the r.b chart ,

  • wow, i was close...thanks

  • no worrys i love early rockn roll .from1946 till 1955

  • Hi everyone, Amos was my uncle. My father was Robert Milburn. This is my favorite song by Amos I just love that big band sound behind him on this one. Thanks for all your beautiful comments. I have about 60 of his recordings, but don't know how to post them on here.
