  • It is not a silly experiment. It shows that magnesium is a powerful reductant. Mg can burn in pure N2 and rips the oxygen away from CO2, as shown here.

  • And it sparkles so pretty!

  • Burns in it, but dry ice is solid co2 which displaces o2, so it is kind of a silly experiment unless you want to weld out in space. lol

  • Gott bist du hohl. Die Wunderkerze ist nur zum Anfachen des Magnesiums da , welches sich in der Schale befindet

    Dry ice is nothing more than CO2.

  • faill.... oxygen has already reacted with coal, it wont react with magnesium...

  • that's wrong....magnesium has a stronger affinity with oxygen. So it reacts
