Can't wait to get this kid in a Trojan uniform. cdk3law has no idea how to watch sports or play them. He is jealous of Burks and Edison and USC. I bet cdk3law was never in the top 20 high school players recruited in the country.

Burks is a bad sport and cheap shot artist. Tonight when Edison lost to Los Alamitos...on the last play of the game the Los Al QB was going down on one knee and Burks dove in (head first) to try and spear/take out the QB. Just one his many dirty/cheap shots all game. NO college should consider this bad sport/cheap shot loser. He's a low class disgrace to the game.

@cdk3law ~ You don't know MY SON AT ALL to call him a loser and low class disgrace! What you see in Burks is a kid who plays AGGRESSIVELY until the very LAST SECOND of the game...he does not give up! He is not a bad sport! He is a team leader, motivator, and is KNOWN for his incredible character! Sorry if he plays like he actually WANTS to win the game! Games can change in a matter of seconds - so the fact that he still was trying to change the game til the very end is nothing to whine about

@hlyncollier My comment wasn’t based on knowing him personally…but rather on his football play. Hey, I can respect and appreciate good aggressive, tough football play (and playing with your heart)…but on the same token I’ve played enough sports in high school and college (including football) to recognize when a line has been crossed over into dirty, cheap-shot, bad sport/unsportsmanlike and yes LOW CLASS play…and yes your son Charles Burks has crossed that line---like it or not.

@hlyncollier I don’t have sour grapes, I’m not a Los Alamitos fan in general & I don’t have a kid on the team. (Plus, like you said Los Alamitos won). That’s not the point here. I do appreciate good games and good players and I could have just as easily appreciated your son’s efforts. In fact, you should take pause to say “Hmmm, someone who saw my son play went out of his way to complain about his play". But no you just defend it so I suppose there's no hope in it getting across to you or him.

@cdk3law ~ If you look at the film of the last few plays where the Los Al quarterback was taking a knee, you can clearly see him backing up one to two steps before taking a knee. The first time he did this, he was warned by the refs that if he took a step back before taking a knee he would be able to be tackled LEGALLY. He did it multiple times after being warned. Charles dove out trying to hit the ball- not once did he make contact with the quarterback. There was no intent of spearing the Qb.

@cdk3law Charles's diving towards the ball had no malicious intent behind it. It was simply a final effort to create a much needed turnover for his team. Initially the refs did not even tell the Edison defense that Los Al would be taking a knee. I find it very asinine that someone would go out of their way to slander my son's good name on a website that millions of users can access. There was no need to post such a harsh comment on my sons highlight reel especially with out knowing all the facts

You really felt it necessary to bad mouth a teenager? Are you a teenager too? Grow up! You WON the game so why are you bitter? Did you accomplish what you wanted to -stirring a pot looking for some attention? Charles plays HARD, AGGRESSIVELY, and with PASSION!

However, if you are a good mother, then you should tell him to watch that line…to always respect that line and other players…because he could be on the other end of a cheap shot that could end his career…ever heard of Kharma?

@cdk3law ~ You ought to be ashamed of yourself for posting something like this.  If you are a parent of a player, you should know by now that high school football is brutal and not for the thin-skinned or meek! There will always be penalties, cheap shots, bad calls, and trash talk in every game - on both sides! Unless you are suited up & in that game, you have NO IDEA what really is said or done between the players - it is all subject to your perception from the sideline!

@hlyncollier I’m sorry but I did feel it necessary to post this. In fact I was so disgusted with your son’s last second attempt at spearing a QB who had taken a knee on the last second of a game that I actually had to look him up. I didn’t even know his name. I’m not ashamed at all, and in fact I was tempted to write a letter to the Edison HS coaches. I’m actually glad that you (his mom) has responded, because now I can talk to you so you can hopefully talk to Charles.

If you think "no college" should consider him, you are a fool - they've seen more of his film and plays and AGGRESSIVENESS than you ever will and that is EXACTLY what they like about him! Maybe you don't have your sights set on your child playing at the next level, but if you do, you need to trade in your panties for a pair of boxers - it only gets tougher from here! Colleges don't want ferocious beasts, not PANSIES!

@hlyncollier To give you an example analogy--boxing (violent like football) and distinguish Sugar Ray Leonard and Mike Tyson. You have someone like Sugar Ray Leonard who kicked butt, but did it cleanly and professionally, without cheap shots or late hits and he was a true gentlemen on and off the ring…and the fans loved him. Then you have Mike Tyson,and we all know what kind of guy he was and how that turned out. Both reached the top of their game but Ray Leonard was loved and Tyson hated.

This kid looks like a pure killer....love the throws....He's high on Michigan too so hopefully he ends up in Maize N Blue.....GO BLUE!!!!
