  • After all that...I'm sure there's a failsafe on it so it doesn't actually keep going if your aim is that bad:P

  • @hattrickster33 It's moving at 1.3 percent the speed of light. I'm pretty sure you couldn't create a failsafe on on something moving that fast. ._.

  • he's a little loud...

  • @adamgamedevthe3rd

I was referring to the Imperial measurement system only. Peace, bro!

  • If only science was taught this way to kids...

  • "Sir Issac Newton is the deadliest son-of-a-bitch in space!"

Finally, proof that me being a genius that can bench-press 100 pounds means that I mentally DOMINATE EVERYONE AND I can kick their ass!!!!

  • how can you hold 20kg in one hand that like 60lbs? :/

  • @bpeterdude316

    More like 45 :)

  • @VioletGiraffe oh yeah i was thinking feet and meters, got them mixed up with kilos and pounds LOL

  • @bpeterdude316

Never liked British system, it won't do you any good :)

  • @bpeterdude316 1. Imperial measurement is stupid

    2. He's a tank, that's why he can hold it

    3. It's not that amazing, Chuck Norris lifts 2000kg a day... in one hand.

  • how was the armor on shepard a different color?

  • @superstandardman

You can choose from several different colours in Shepard's cabin.

  • FEEL THE WEIGHT

  • Sheldon would be so proud

  • I want to get the shirt that has the deadliest son of a bitch quote on it

  • Why'd he call the atmoic bomb a city buster for anyway?

  • @voy303 Because that's exactly what it did. Hiroshima was wrecked by that bomb.

  • i want this guy as my science teacher!:D he can make physics sound so badass.

  • Lold so hard when i first played through this. :D

  • u just dont EYYbaaaallll IT!

  • You wonder why they are talking about an Alliance Weapon of Mass Destruction right in the docking bay of C-Sec? No fear of espionage, I guess, or you know...geth infiltration.

  • @gundamseedathrun

Nah, it's Alliance's propaganda, for alien ears specifically :)

  • @VioletGiraffe scare em a bit ;)

  • @gundamseedathrun legion is so not a geth.... check his class

  • @aznxa32 right legion is definitely a volus...sorry my mistake ;)

  • it would have been alot funnier if r. lee erney had done the voice, lol i can just imagine it :D

  • "weapon of mass destruction"

0_0 someone call former presi bush, he wont be lying this time

  • @TheLastArchdemon bush would be... do they have oil...

  • Sir Isaac Newton is the deadliest son of a bitch in space NOW ! lo

    l

  • Possibly the most badass science teacher ever.

  • God,i hate these idiotic military types...

  • I would love to know what Neil deGrasse Tyson thinks about this^^ Hearing Sir Isaac Newton called "the deadliest son of a bitch in space" i mean^^

  • So.. if I flew out to space with a rocket launcher, shot a dozen rockets randomly somewhere in the direction that I don't see anything, I'll make someone else's day bad sometime in the future? Sweet. I hope I'll be long dead before that happens haha

  • sir Issac Newton is the deadleist son of a bitch in space

  • HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGHGHGHGHGHG!

I know what happened to the dinosaurs!

  • What I'd like to know is why recruit training is taking place in the Citadel's customs area.

  • @Doofe2012 I think it's more of a "getting chewed out" for fucking up royally rather than training. And customs? They're probably just arriving back from the exercise they screwed up (hence the ass-chewing).

  • Isaac Newton Is a son of a bitch in the space. Every day you learn something new

  • every time you pull the trigger you ruin someones day

    lol

  • Wonder if a nuclear torpedoes would override or disturb those kinetic barriers, also no way that armor or electronics would be undamaged after, besides don't see that with all those all those speeds they have any anti-missile defenses.

Just curious how munch old tech would kick ass. :P

Also I wish to have AK-47 in ME3!

  • @TankT9 I doubt that they won't have some sort of shielding to protect against EMP.

Also: An AK-47 wouldn't do any damage at all to the kinetic shields nor the armor.

  • Sir Issac Newton: Deadliest son of a bitch in space

  • 'That means Sir Isaac Newton is the deadliest son-of-a-bitch in space!'

Too true. Wait....don't you mean in history? =O He couldn't be in space if he's dead. Unless....holy shit....I want to see the Isaac Newton robot in ME3, damnit!

  • 0:21

    Hilarious!

  • it would funny if that slug unexpected hit a reaper while on it way to earth. : D

  • i think everyone should start firing this slug randomly into space. maybe it will ruin harbinger's day :)

  • "Sir Issac Newton is the deadliest motherfucker in space!"

Issac Newton still pwn people even in death lol xD

  • @LeighMedinr Bah! Post that comment again without the failing grammar and Ill think about it.....

  • Bah! the MAC on a UNSC frigate is approx 300x stronger than that rubbish. the UNSC use THOSE rounds for point defence!

  • @barra193

Hey, you're not from our universe! We won't play with you :D

  • @VioletGiraffe im just saying that if one of our went to your universe, the Reapers would be screwed

  • @barra193

    Ha-ha! Yeah, I got that! :)

  • @barra193

If you compare the power of a MAC round to one of the beams of a Reaper, a powerful "magnetohydrodynamic" weapon which ejects a stream of molten metal at a fraction of the speed of light which could tear through a cruiser in a single sustained burst. Its gigantic spinal-mounted gun was able to rip through the hulls of even the largest of dreadnought-class ships with ease, effortlessly penetrating their kinetic shields. But I agree to your statement as well

  • @barra193 thats like saying Goku would destroy the Covenant, Reapers etc.

  • @barra193 The reapers are screwed? UNSC can barely fight aliens that walk on ground like humans.

  • @barra193 Ah yes, "Reapers", an immortal race of sentient starships allegedly waiting in dark space. We have dismissed that claim.

  • @barra193 Wrong.

  • @VioletGiraffe But what about the StarCraft universe :( we wanna play!

  • @barra193 Nice!!!!!

  • @barra193 Doesn't Halo take place 400 years after Mass Effect? :>

  • @Uejji almost 400

  • @barra193 Well the MAC gun has a much slower speed.

  • @barra193 of course it's stronger, about 400 years after ME universe. Technology has defiently improved.

  • @barra193

yea but dreadnoughts are fighting reapers what are your Frigates or MACs fighting FLOOD

you dan fight flood with sand bags and whater pumps

  • @barra193 Halo takes place in 2552, Mass effect takes place in 2183...you had 400 years to get that tech

  • @barra193 Mass Effect>Halo. It's just a much better game even though I like both but Mass Effect is the best game of all time and the Reapers would own anything in Halo.

  • @soldierassasin They are hardly the same type of game. It's like comparing Fallout and Call of Duty.

  • @Kafana91 You obviously don't know what I'm talking about.

  • @soldierassasin Obviously.

  • @barra193 I think superman could easily default Saruman.

  • @peterfaj that's because the sriters of superman have no shame in 'deus ex machina'-ing every comic/serie

  • That is why Serviceman Chung we do not EYE-BALL IT!

  • VioletGiraffe, you're damn popular ;)

  • I lol at this every time I go to the citidel and I got the DLC for the "Black hole gun" I used it once and it got 6 enemies once.

  • I laugh everytime i see this.

  • Lol that Drill sargeant reminds me of the drill sarge from full metal jacket:P

  • EVERYONE CHECK OUT MY NEW VIDEO "COMMANDER SHEPARD VS MASTER CHIEF" LEAVE A COMMENT!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Kinetic energy = ( m v^2 ) / 2

For the ferous slug (20 kg) at the 1.3% speed of light that would be 1.5189*10^14 Joules or 36302.6 tonnes of TNT (1 tonne = 4.184*10^9 Joules). That would translate to roughly 36.3 kilotons. The Hiroshima bomb "Little Boy" was about 13 to 18 kilotonnes. So yeah, the gunnery chief is quite correct the slugs kinetic energy and the comparison with the Hiroshima bomb.

I like how they actually try to make all the science in this universe appear plausible. :D

  • @Gigano1986

Yeah, I did the math and got the same numbers at the start of the discussin, when I just uploaded the video :)

  • @Gigano1986 The weapons shouldnt be very effective though. At that speed, just under 100 seconds to travel from Earth to Moon. Mass effect drive reduces inertia of ship, making it easier to move. 99 seconds should be sufficient to redirect an already moving ship out of the way of a 20 kilogram iron (ferrous) slug, given that it would be giving off light at 1.3%C and thus easy to detect.

Space combat would be conducted at great distances, shields or no.

  • @GoblinKnightLeo From what I've seen in the final space battle in Mass Effect, space combat appears to be fought at distances of about 10 to 20 kilometres. The Citadel is only a couple of kilometres long. A slug travelling at 1% of light speed can traverse that distance in less than 1/3.000.000th of a second, or about 335 nanoseconds. To a regular observer, that is almost instantaneous. I would conclude that this weapon is quite effective.

  • @Gigano1986 Imagine kinetic energy of impacting debris from exploding starship hit by this slug, especially given the actual characteristics of targets hit by high-speed projectiles.. At 10-20 km, chances of being hit are exponentially higher than at 100-200, and higher still than at 1000-2000km. Even at that range, significant debris can be expected to impact the firing ship and/or allied craft, making spaceborn combat at this range suicidal.

So ME space combat is unrealistic. Nothing new.

  • @GoblinKnightLeo That is why we wait for the targeting computer to give a firing solution. We do not eye-ball it! I would also think that debris from a ship hit by such a weapon is quite minimal. It's more likely that material would be vaporised than ejected. Moreover, it's unlikely the ship would survive at all.

Mass Effect is a sci-fi game, so by definition its scientific premises are fictitious. Nevertheless, I enjoy the subtleties in ME that hint towards actual science

  • @Gigano1986 How long did it take you to figure this out? Under most circumstances, I would shake my head in dismay at efforts like this, but considering the subject matter, I would opt to offer a high-five instead. Kudos to you, sir.

  • @Bookster343 Maybe ten minutes? Physics isn't that hard to understand. Thanks for the Kudos, my good man, I will put them to good use. /monocle

  • @Gigano1986 Did...do you just seriously do all that math? O_O

  • @tom1yum2goong Yes of course I did. ^_^ It's not really advanced mathematics, rather just finding the correct formula, imput the data with the correct units and obtain a result. It could be a rather simple question on a physics high school test.

  • @Gigano1986 Wow I should have paid more attention in math class then :)

Anyway we going to need people like you when we go out into space. A math genius is obiviously the most badass person in space since they can shoot someone in the head 50 years from now :)

  • Funniest scene in Mass Effect 2.

  • 0:21 lol

  • 1.3% of LS is about 3900 kilometers per SECOND.

That slug's kinetic energy has more digits than the total money earned by 120 average working men in their entire lives.

So I'd say it can, indeed, ruin someone's day. Heads up!

  • so he's saying that the reapers aren't the biggest threat to the galaxy, but Isaac Newton is?

  • @RoboticTable The Reapers aint got nuttin' on Sir Issac Newton. XD

  • @RoboticTable

I refer you to Grunt's quote, post-mission (provided he survived your game)

"Something to think about. We killed the most dangerous thing in the galaxy. That leaves... us."

  • Once you fire this hunk of metal, it keeps on going till it hits something, and that might be a ship, or the planet behind the ship, or someone out in deep space, and hit someone ten thousand years from now....WIN conversation :D

  • i couldn't help notice that u only had an avalanche and what seemed to be pistol, how did u do that?, please reply, thanks!

  • @214crazydude

Hmm. I don't know, really. I know I had full gear on me, but I don't know why we can't see it.

  • "Sir Isaac Newton is the deadliest son of a bitch in space."

  • hes recording a big ass video with high detail using fraps of cource it be a slower frame rate tard lol 30 is good enough for any game and in my eyes any pc that can run mass effect is decent enough in fact my xps m1530 runs mass effect well

  • @arup02

Not as much as you think. When Fraps is recording the framerate is locked to that I set for the video, which is 30 FPS. Actually, you never need more than 30 FPS for a moving picture to be smooth.

  • @VioletGiraffe hmm now i understand

  • Hey - is it just me, or are Burnside & Chung apparently the same person?

  • @HowlingWolf518 they had like 10 voice actors doing over a 100 different voices so probably they r

  • @tehBLAX Nah, I mean the DI is facing the same guy when speaking to both of them. Bit of a fail on BW's part.

  • I memorized this whole dialog (changed it a little) and said this to my commander during my service in the army and when I was finished, he replied "Damn I like you. You can have an extra meatball next time you eat dinner"

  • @Chewin3

And they say there's no use in computer games besides killing time :)

  • Joker!

  • That means that Sir Issac Newton is the deadliest son-of-a-bitch in space!

  • No wonder i kept hearing HEADSHOT after i shot in the air.

  • JFK wasn't hit by a sniper, it was a prothean who sneezed while on his ship, and hit the fire button at the wrong time...

  • @MartinTraXAA yeah... 50,000 years ago

  • I feel like he was referring to Star Wars when Luke destroyed the Death Star lol wouldn't be too surprised since A) This game is super nerdy (and it's awesome =D) and 2) This game does refer to all sorts of fiction and non-fiction alike lol =P Plus when he was saying to wait for the sights and don't eye ball it. It's a weapon of mass destruction...lol I don't know, it just screamed "Star Wars!!" to me =P

  • I am really impressed. That the only sci-fi ever dare to mention Newton (whose theroy could possibly fuck up all imaginary techology) in space!

  • @lowerlowerhk

    Lol, good point :)

  • *guy eye balls it and miss*

reaper ship: WE WILL ATTACK IN *missle hits a reaper ship* WHAT THE SHIT?!?!

  • @mattstorm360 That's how you win Mass Effect 3. Chung missed a shot a couple years ago...

  • @mattstorm360 then again maybe eye-balling it is a good thing :D

  • Mass Effect: Teaching physics and looking badass at the same time since 2183.

  • "I bet you're the kind of guy that would fuck a Krogan in the ass and not even have the goddamn courtesy to give him a reach-around." - Chief Gunnery

  • *one guy in space far away from the battle* ooo i love that al.,..WTF WHAT IT MY SHIP?

  • Hmmmm,Wepons Of Mass Destruction......Cowboy Shooting from the hip.....George Bush Anyone?

  • @MegaSeptim i smell a reference in the air....

  • @MegaSeptim Maybe Ronald Reagan?

  • 12 people's day were ruined because Burnside didn't check his targets

  • @xXSoulessniperXx damn you took mean. Lol.

  • @Paintchk218

    Srry

    LOL

  • I was hoping to shoot those guys :(

  • Epic lol. I swear my chemistry teacher was a drill sergeant, he WAS in the army though!

  • lololololol hahaha hehehe

  • I didn't know drill sergeants taught science, If he was my teacher I'd be failing. "What the hell is this private?! Is this your baking cookbook? Cuz it sure as hell ain't the periodic table!"

  • Did anyone else love how he said EYE-BAWL IT?

  • @FightingWhatsNormal

    I did:)

    P.S. It's "Eye-ball", isn't it?..

  • @VioletGiraffe

lol, I know. I was just typing out how it sounded.

  • @FightingWhatsNormal

that best quote ever :D.... that ironic voice :D .. EEEYE-BAAALL IT

  • DAMN STRAIGHT!!!!

  • What slug? Where?

  • sir isaac newton is the deadliest son of a bi*** in space!!

  • Now that I think about it... remember the space-battle at the end of ME1? Remember how all those ships were shooting at each other and 90% of their rounds MISSED (yeah that's some good computers giving good firing solutions...)?

Yeah... I bet A LOT of people's days were ruined in 10000 years...

  • @GtarTravis Pretty sure the drill sergeant was talking about the main cannon for the dreadnought class (The most destructive one) warships.

  • I nocticed this and was hearing the commander when i noiced an advertisent kept yelling at me, the I got kasumi, because of Issac Newton

  • I think teachers should be like this guy. XD

  • my physic teacher should talk like that.

  • Zomg I love this Gunnery chief

  • I thought the best part was the "You are ruining someone's day, somewhere and sometime."

  • Sir Isaac Newton - Wanted for being, and I quote ''The deadliest son of a bitch in space'' - Will provide 150,000 credit reward.

  • Sir Isaac Newton would have been pleased XD

  • What armour is that that shepard is using?? I've always wanted to know it's name. Thanks

  • @aidanladd2k10

That is standart N7 armor with few upgrades, painted light grey :)

  • This always cracks me up.

  • I learned this in fifth-grade,And there learning it now? LOL

  • @maggie2941 cuz its like the civle war

  • You shoot that It may hit you while you'r shopping on illium.

  • aside from newtons law of relativity or gravity, i still think albert einstein is the most baddass german in ww2, meaning: he created the bomb for the "enola gay" to drop on hiroshima, then created another, for nagasaki. WHAT WERE THOSE EXPLOSIVE SLUGS CALLED!

  • @PinoyPogiman

Why Einstein? As far as I remember, Enrico Fermi created those things in first place.

  • @VioletGiraffe oh, nvm. i was reading about him, and i thought i saw something about ww2 in his biography

  • @VioletGiraffe

He came up with the idea then the Manhattan Project with Einstein included did the work.

  • @PinoyPogiman It was the Fat man and Little Boy those were the names of the bombs dropped by the Enola Gay and the Bockscar

  • @PinoyPogiman Fat Man, dropped on Hiroshima, and Little Man, used on Nagasaki.

  • haha I love how they give you a little lesson on physics in there ahaha and these conversations is why I love mass effect so damn much

  • I swear when the D.I. calles him a magggot he sounds like he's saying f@ggot.

  • 100 megatons is nothing compared to the human's main ship-to-ship weapons in Halo

The ship mounted MAC (Magnetic Accelerator Cannon) fires a 600 ton tungsten or depleated uranium shell at 40% the speed of light resulting in an impact equivelent of 1.17 (hint hint) teratons of TNT.

The Orbital Defense Platform MAC fires a 3000 ton tungsten shell at 50% the speed of light equaling the force of 9.98 teratons of TNT.

Thats 11700 and 99800 times as powerful respecfully... HOLY F%@KING S$&T!!!

  • @magejawa21

I seriously doubt we will be able to lift such a huge ammunition into orbit anytime soon

  • @VioletGiraffe

I would assume that the rounds never go planetside.

  • @VioletGiraffe

They get them up with these giant elevators 70000km tall, called space tethers because its cheaper then chemical rockets to get things into orbit. They keep it strait by using a large counterweight at the end orbiting the planet its on

  • @VioletGiraffe True, but Halo IS the year 2553 by the time it ends. We never know what could be possible by then! At the time of the events shown here it was only 2185, which is 368 years before the ending of Halo 3. Who knows what Humanity could do in that time.

  • @VioletGiraffe Except those slugs could be manufactured in space, or at least in low-gravity facilities - say, the moon's surface - where they won't be that much of a pain to get into position. Besides, aren't FTL, energy shields and man-portable plasma weapons more unrealistic?

Besides, the way I read it the speed was grossly exaggerated - compared to that, what use is a 'conventional' nuclear weapon?

  • @VioletGiraffe the ammo is mined and made in space.

  • @VioletGiraffe

They're probably manufactured in space. Building such big things is probably easier in micrograv environments since they won't have gravity-induced stress fractures.

  • @amitakartok

    Makes sense

  • @magejawa21 Firing an orbital MAC round from planetside would knock us off our orbit XD do you know how much damage the archer missile pods do compared to the standard ship to ship in M.E/M.E2

I'm assuming the HALO array would rape the destiny ascension (spelling o.O)

  • @zombiesrcuming4u

the halo array dosen't cause structural damage. it just kills organisms with radiation

  • @magejawa21 so it basically a galaxy wide sterilizer of doom
