  • @kodythepimp01 haha ikr ehehhehehehhhehhehehhhhehehehh....silence ehehehhehhehhehhhh

  • the joy of Dayton Ohio xD oh well it's my home :D

  • If it doesnt start on the first try...thats your clue that you needs to wait for the "wait to Start" light to go off first.

  • dayton or daytona

  • @MultiMonster69: It´s Dayton/OH

  • @Booder24 i live in cincy

  • Wasn't sure that thing was going to start lol

  • forgot a few switches?

  • It doesn't matter wethere it is a fly car or a box rig, if it gets the job done then it is worth having byt the way where is Dayton any way?

  • Ohio

  • ohio just like it says in the descrip

  • ohio

  • @bulson08 Its the 5th largest city in Ohio about an hour north of Cincinnati. Wow, that ambulance didnt want to start.....

  • i live like 2 hours away from dayton.i live up around akron

  • same here, my cousin is a firefighter/medic for dayton.

  • But what in case Heart attack, when seconds are important and you go on scene with this big truck incase of better and faster smaller ambulance VAN. In Slovenia we mostly use VW transporter 5 because is faster, safer, can carry a lot of equipment, and 1+3 passengers + patient.

  • we got 4 ambulances that size, and they all carry more than enough medical equipment, the cot, the stair chair, backboards, all that special stuff you need, plus it can carry up to 2 patients, and up to 5 medical personnel. and just because thyere big doesnt mean their slow. we can run ours up to around 90mph or so if we need to.

  • nice here in my hometown we just got a new ambo a Ford E-350 2009 model LED lites ALS its nice

  • Comment removed

  • The number one priority in the public safety field is our safety first. Why do you insist that if it is a medium duty frame it is slow and not practical? You don't have to drive a thousand miles an hour to get to a call, you CODE and use discretion. This is not Slovenia, and what if there is a full arrest or a heart attack? The paramedics run CODE safely keeping in mind they are REQUESTING the right a way and get on scene and do their job, you must be able to justify every action you take.

  • because u.s.a is the best you know

  • Why they have so big ambulanec ????? It's slow, not god in traffic colission ...... We in europe have smaller and faster amulances and they are much better.

  • This would appear to be an ALS rig for the Dayton Fire Dept. This truck may be equipped with anything from air packs to extrication equipment. The larger the apparatus the more room there is for equipment and gear, making it a more versatile truck What do you mean it's "not god in traffic colission" are you trying to say this vehicle is not safe in an accident? This medium duty chassis will stand up to a lot more than a passenger van frame. You must remember this truck runs with a fire dept.

  • How do you know they are better? Have you ever worked in a medium duty ambulance, or is your knowledge of U.S EMS Ops just an opinion.

  • bigger ambulances mean carrying more equipment, plus, if it gets hit, there is a lot more vehicle there to protect the patient.

  • WHY DID YELLOW TRUCK'S MAKE YOU SAD??

  • Yellow trucks make me sad :(

  • why little guy? lol

  • didnt seem to want to start

  • Yea might have bien sitting all night but its never a good omen when a firetruck doesnt start up good!

  • You must remember it has a diesel engine, they may have started cranking before the glow plugs had warmed up.

  • very good point

  • my dad works there as a firefighter and paramedic its pretty kewl there

  • I think all rigs except for chiefs should have a

some sort of Q on it. But not all can due to the sound and noise issue.

  • Q's good points: You can rev at low speed to produce low volume. Is loudest vehicle siren. Beautiful clean sound full of harmonics. Bad points: Draws a tremendous amout of current. Cannot be instantly silenced. An electronic siren can by pressing microphone switch. No P.A. with which to direct drivers. Weighs much. Why sound siren leaving the station when they have a traffic signal and NO traffic? USE SIREN SPARINGLY! People are sick of the needless noise pollution.
  • Why you ask? Because in some states, that is the absolute law. Any emergency vehicle operating a visual warning device MUST emit audible warning. When you need paramedics, police, or fire, and you hear that siren going, it makes you feel better knowing help is on the way. Believe me, I've been in that situation.

  • Disturbing others needlessly is not good enough reason.

If you call and are told they are coming, they are on the way.

Keep up rescue efforts and don't relax until patient is in care of the paramedics.

We silence when nearing the scene too not draw attention to someone's house.

Laws do not require siren at all times.

Even if they did, I would not do it.

  • Yes, you made the call, but the siren lets you know that they are close, and are almost there. You know for sure that the dispatcher didn't screw up. Hearing the siren makes you feel a bit better. "Disturbing others needlessly"? A siren going past for a minute at most is "disturbing" Maybe they should move? Because that's life.

BTW, Pennsylvania state laws states that vehicles must yield to an emergency vehicle only if it is emitting visual AND audible warning.

  • Disturbing? Who wouldn't want to listen to a Q wind up?

  • I love the sound of a Q.

    "Nothing could be finer

    than a Federal Q siren

    in the, mor-or-ning."

The slow wind-down is especially captivating.

    (I hate the brake.)

But people tire of hearing sirens.

I silently travel the same routes others go with Q, the POSwercall and even air horn sounding.

I have even been thanked for not sounding the siren.

  • With good lights, not lots o' little twinkling lights, and vehicle positioned left in the lane so lights can be.tter seen, we have been able to sound the siren much less.

Reving the Q briefly to low speed, therefore, low volume, is another nice advantage.

Electronic sirens are always at FULL volume.

With a Unitrol electronic siren, approaching congested traffic near a hospital, I hummed into the PA to mimic a Q.

(An ambulance crew at the hospital wondered where the fire truck was.)

  • Well, I can respect that.

  • I hope they can also get a German Martin Horns.

  • I believe that a siren makes a firetruck. If you have a sweet truck, but crappy siren, then it's no good. But, if you have an ok to bad truck, and it has a sweet siren, then it might not be so bad, but i feel that the siren reflects or makes the firetruck

  • directed to phil18 and tgrulio

  • I want to agree with Firemedic618. Race isn't an issue, but many want to make it that way. I am quite tired of hearing about race. Just something for other's to talk about. My dad has been a firefighter for dayton almost 20 years, and it has never been that way. Dayton has the nicest firefighter's around here. My bf works Volley at WTFD and they are kinda snobby (not all of them) and I know a lot of Kettering too... Station 11 has TON'S of room, mt dad used to work there. have lots of equipment!

  • Well blackman1024, the reason for that is no different than most places in the US. Blacks don't want the job or cannot get through the hiring process because of criminal backgrounds. It's not racist or a buddy system, that type of hiring has been gone for a long time. I know this because I have done recruiting for minorities, being a black firefighter myself. Your comment is the typical "whitey is holding us down" which makes us look ridiculous. Thank god Bill Cosby had the nerve to say it.

  • ok asshole, if you don't like the dayton fire department, then get yourself and your family out of your house if its ever burning.

ingrate. whitey firefighter's keeping you down near the floor, but only so you don't die of smoke inhalation. asshole

  • the transmission sucks.

  • HAHA, Dayton DOES NOT have sweet apparatus. tgrulio what station are you at in Kettering? and a Q is a Q you must be new.

  • is that another ladder behind the medic??? how many do they have, i thought they had just 1!!

  • you should hear kettering ohio's Q's on all of their trucks, it's sweet, i am part of the vols.

  • Yea..that's why we like to talk about them. We are simply obsessed!

  • what is trans.?

  • What's wrong with the trans.?

  • bout time you slugs @ 11's got off the lazy-boys and did something! The new 21's

  • my cousin got hired about a month ago in dayton. he was in the dirty dozen class. he's at 18's i belive now.

  • It was on a run, unfortunately.

  • this dept. is downtown... it's got sweet apparatus, you just can't see it or it's on a run

  • Where the hell is Dayton ?

  • Ohio

  • ohio
