  • Now I want to be an architect! Thank you for sharing this.

  • can i ask does anyone know the name of the pens that are used ?

  • mr. berkus, have you always been 100% this is what you want to do? i'm finding architecture hard to study, but when it gets easier, if it gets easier, will i really have an enjoyable career?

  • i like you sir.

  • I plan to become a car designer (which seems quite impossible for where i live), but i look up at architecture too. I can draw 3d very good I draw alot, and I'm creative when it comes to style and shapes. The only difference is that architecture use straight lines mostly and much more space and its not supposed to be aerodynamic. My question is: do I need to focus more on how the different rooms and spaces being created and how important is the outside look of a building?

  • I tried hard not to comment, I'm no architect so I don't really know the amount of drawing skills needed to become one, maybe it's more about ideas than technical ability. But I really don't like these drawings, I mean are they serious? What's the point of sketching something so badly?

  • @ArtinArt Thats actually a very good question! I'll try to explain as well as I can.

Soccer players have to practice kicks and exercises to gain the ability to produce a good game.

In a similar way artists and architects have master pieces and piles of quick "badly" drawn or pieces. Architects also produce piles of sketch models that many find difficult to appreciate.

What Barry Bercus is doing is how creative people find the ideas they need to produce something worth producing.

  • @ArtinArt It's like stretching before playing a sport. It loosens up the hand.

  • @ArtinArt I disagree, these drawings are so much more powerful than 'realistic' and almost 'photographic' sketches. They depict the environments of the cities very well, through only a few simple lines.

  • It is good to see that old people like Copic too.

  • excelente , me gustaria tener profesores como el

  • amazing !

  • Can you go into more detail about how these impromtu cityscape sketches can be brought back into your firm's design work? I think it is an interesting talking point and can't just be stated without explanation.

  • Its the most enjoyable profession anybody can envolved in!! <3<3
