  • nice shooting man anyone wanna take a quick look at my first .243 vid i know its not long range but i will be adding more videos soon would apreciatate it and again nice going

  • Nice ass!

  • Mighty fine my friend !!!

  • Why you shooting a gong? What a dumbfuck!

  • @BlackBearsLove Why not? No need to call names..

  • Hacks...

  • Nice video. I have .308 but I am looking to buy .243, because I want less kick. How would you compare the kick of .243 to .308 and .223? I also had a saiga in .223, but I had to sell it.

  • @Igoman1984

Well with the weight of this gun at 13lbs it kicks very lightly, in fact sometimes I think my hot handloaded .223 tikka kicks more. Hard to say though.

  • @Igoman1984 i have fired all three ,,, depends on the round and barrel wht, ,,,as mudflinger noted ,,,,, also , if you are recoil shy ,you may try a soft pad ,, my experience with 308 and 243 is that they both are not different enough to care ,, the 223 is definitely softer ,, matter what you are going to use it for ,,, we could talk all day on what is best ,,, mudflinger may have a bit more up to date knowledge than me ,,, it has been a few yrs since i owned these rifles

  • @Igoman1984 The recoil in a .243 is close to the recoil of a .308. i havnt shot.223 without it bieng in a ar15 so i wouldnt know how it would be in a bolt gun. depending on the weight of the bullets you use will determine how much kick there is. 180gr in a .308 kicks harder than a 155gr outa the same rifle. hope it helps/

  • @Igoman1984 .243 is an amazing round. Some may disagree but I feel that it is a very versatile round. I suppose it depends on what you're hunting. I've been hunting coyotes with .243 for years. The ammunition is not extremely expensive, and the recoil is bearable if not just plain comfortable. Let me know what rifle you get (or got). Any other questions let me know.

  • wow! I wonder how much useful energy was left in that bullet by the time it reached 900 yards ? I've no experience with .243 whatsoever (but will probably be buying a NEF handi rifle in .243 right soon)

  • i used to have a 243,i regret ever getting rid of it. its a beautiful round that if my memory serves me correctly has got one of the flattest tragetcory patters. good shootin! 900 yards is hard to hit consistantly.

  • i shoot a .270 but its the gunsize not the cal thats to big so some one lended me a .243 h&r to hog hunt i took a 305 pond hog at 406 yards

  • thanks to modern machines and craftsmanship - everyone can become a sniper at anytime. Even house wives and middle school kids

  • almost a mile!

  • That's a damn good shot ESPECIALLY with that wind

  • what is the make of that gun?

  • nice shootin

  • I have a Browning, X-bolt .243, 22" barrel and love it. I had never missed a shot since I bought it before deer season last year. I didn't know the .243 is capable of shooting and hitting anything at 500 yards. Now I know. Thanks.

  • So much for stereotypes eh? Very nice shooting !

  • nice

  • but can you do bong hits at 900 yards??

  • that chick can shoot

now you just gotta get her a real calibre

  • @Inquisition101 wrote, "now you just gotta get her a real calibre."

The .243 Winchester is a fantastic calibER.

I own a Remington 700 BDR with wood stock (not a free floated barrel, not a heavy barrel) and can easily shoot 5 shot 1/2" (12.7mm) groups with it at 100 yards using a Bushnell 3-9x scope. While not perfect for big/dangerous game, it's almost perfect for just about everything else.

Spend some time shooting a quality rifle chambered for the .243 Winchester and it'll be love.

  • @AirplaneturboFan AGREED! These cowboys who think they need a 300winmag to make up for their tiny dicks make me laugh. All they do is waste meat. I only use 243 (Sako with zeiss 3-12) and it is a magic setup for everything short of buffalo! You just have to shoot straight is all.

  • @TheobenHunter And there is a vid of a 9 year old dropping a buffalo with the first shot of a 243. :P

  • OMG THIS IS AMAZING THAT GIRL CAN SHOOT:D

  • very nice the women can shoot

  • very fucking nice

  • Please enlighten me. I do alot of long distance shooting with my 270. I believe the bullet drop for a winchester super X 130gr. factory load bullet is about 20-25ft at 1000 yards I cannot remember exactly. Any pointers on how to best estimate how high to aim over what you are trying to hit???

  • @bmmccas You need to know your velocity and the bullet Ballistic Coeficent, which you can usually find on the manufactures website. Then go to jbm ballistic calculator (its free) Plug in the numbers and variables and it should be really close.

  • @bmmccas i use the simplest method ,,, shoot rounds low till i get zeroed in ,,, no calculations ,,,,, i don't care what the mid range hgt is ,,,, just hit the bull

  • nice

  • impressive shooting

  • i couldnt see the gong or the bullet flight. can you annotate or circle it in slow motion or something :D

  • @blueduderanch You are normally not going to see the vapor trail except under certain conditions, and generally with larger rounds such as 50BMG. I have seen a trail from a 7.62x54R but never from a .243 Win.

  • @hibob841 Thanks :)

  • @hibob841 If you do any kind of F-class competition shooting you almost always see your bullet flight on every shot. I can almost tell where its going to hit the target just by watching the parabolic arc and the wind drift.

  • @mudflinger150 agree! its alot easier to see if your right behind the shooter/rifle also. Also alot easier if it's high humidity, you'll see it every time, even low calibers

  • @hibob841 I always see a vapor trail with my .243. I've even seen one withmy .204.

  • NICE

  • Hopefully this guy doesn't piss his wife off. Restraining orders aren't that far lmao. 5/5

  • Nice shooting. I read where your using 107 gn bullets. What powder charge & type. If you don't mind letting others know your load ups. Best, yl

  • @ylism I'm using 39gr of 4340 with federal primers

  • Comment removed

  • nice shots!

  • Yeah! That's cool!

    Good shooting!

  • Do you find that online balastics calculator is accurate? I have tried to shoot at 400 yards, hit 5 m above target. Was shooting 30 degree angle so only took the horizontal distance. Surely if its 5m above target the table is wrong. Or is it my zero because I did bump it a little.

  • I use JBM Ballistics. It was really close for me

  • you can kill anything with anything, barnes-X , havent let me down yet, soooo if it aint broke, dont fix it..... in my opinion. So called "gun-experts" have to write about something. Ive killed a grizzly with a 220 swift & a coyote with a 375H&H, dead is dead.

  • @mrsmelzbad True, bullet placement is by far the most important factor. Still, if you pick a round that is appropriate to the game at hand you have a slightly better margin of error; e.g. you don't have to put a round right into the heart, because a more powerful round creates a larger wound cavity which has a better chance of destroying vitals. In my opinion you owe it to the animal to use enough gun, and .220 Swift on a Grizzly is a bit irresponsible (and illegal in many areas.)

  • 243 is a great round, killin lil bastard. Found it to much for (called in) fox & yotes, at less than 100 yards., 22 mag is great for that, if yer keeping pelts. Have seen big caribou, moose, elk, brought down by the 243, with a good barnes-X 100gr will kill anything, out at 400 yds , in my opinion.

  • @mrsmelzbad i heard the berger bullet is also one hell of a round in 6mm

  • how you likeing the .243. i am in the market for a varmint rifle and am thinking this cuz you can use it for varmint or meduim to large game depending on how good you can shoot. at least thats what ive heard.

  • .243 is pretty good for deer out to maybe 300-400 yds, then its getting too weak in my opinion, but its a great varmint caliber.

  • thats a bitch that will dislocate ur head.

  • Nice shooting

  • mighty fine shootin

  • you crazy taking a 270 on a bear hunt i take my 375 hh mag

  • i take my .22 :)

  • 243 is a good caliber u can shoot 55- 100 grain bullets

  • HEADSHOT

  • Nice I shot a dog with a 243 from around 100 yards it was my first time

  • are u asian?

  • no im not asian

  • Nice Shot!

  • i just baught a 243 savage its a great long range rifle im hitting dead center at 600/400/300 /250 yards every time great gun!!

  • Do you hand load or use factory loads? What were you shooting here?

  • Hand loads all the way. Using 107gr Seirra matchkings, at about 2850fps.

  • do you have to have a 1 in 12 twist for those loads? I wanted to reload the berger vld's in .243 but I was advised not to as my 1 in 10 twist barrel would not shoot them straight.

  • The barrel is a 1 in 9 1/8" twist. Factory remington barrel. I was also told I wouldn't be able to stabilize the 107 gr bullets but I tried it and no problems. Give it a whirl, might be surprised.

  • what grain was you wanting to load

  • 110 grain

  • That is awsome, i have a remington 700 in 243 too, i never would hav guessed you could have shot that far!

  • GPS verified and calculated with mildots to be 900yds.

  • thats cool man i hunt with a browning a bolt 243 wssm and people always mess with me because its a pretty small caliber but im always the one bringn home the deer so whatever.

  • the same dude,its a great gun

  • i was gonna get a .243 but you never no when you might go on a trip to hunt elk or bear. thats why i got a .270

  • well saying how i live in florida i dont do any of that soooo... where are you from or where do you hunt?

  • i live in pennslyvania. we have deer and elk in the north western part but getting a tag is like winning the lottery. but my dad wants to take me out west soon

  • oh gotcha i live in florida and hunt in florida for hogs and turkey and georgia for deer but ive been to colorado a couple times not for huntin i wish i could but its not likely. i know they have some good ass mule deer antelope and elk though

  • true... depends what you like to hunt, .243 and a .270 are great hog guns but if you like to hunt coyotes or fox, a .243 is better, but you shouldnt hunt an elk with a .243

  • doesn't really look like 900 yards maybe 500 or 600 but i guess

  • Well go for as much as your budget will allow. The scope I use is called Falcon Optics. Check them out on the web, from UK. But as long as its decent quality and has target knobs, you should be good. Make sure that the scope will have enough internal adjustment for the range you want to shoot at. I put an angled base on mine to be safe.

  • Cool, i have a ruger m77 in a heavy target rifle in .243. I was considering getting a millet tactical scope with target nobs for those really long shots. any wisdom on what tactical scopes are best.

  • have the same rifle! great gun!! i have a millet trs-1 4-16x50 scope and it is awesome!! ive shot nightforce, S&B..all the big $ scopes and my millet is def as good as they are

  • does that have a lot of kick?

  • No, kick is very little, the rifle weights around 13lbs. Feels like my .223 with hot loads.

  • 900 yards with a 100gr boattail has 18.5 feet drop if zeroed at 50 yards..

  • Why would you even consider zeroing in a .243 @ 50 yards?

  • Because calibers like 240-270-300win, or weatherby, have very little drop so when a .243 is zeroed at 50 it's still zero( -0.47") at 100, (-4.63" at 200 & (-13.62") at 300 yards. 90% of hunting shots are under 300 yards.

  • yeah no kiddin.i would at least zero mine in at 200.

  • i like the 243

  • .243 is a great caliber the best shooting gun i own

  • nice,, i use a remington 700 on a choate stock with a night force 8 by 32 with the npr2 reticle and 87grn vmax , and have ranged and taken foxes out to 450 yrds on a good day with ease i love 243 i use it on the rifle range in competion and out in the field and it is a great all round calibur ,, keep up the long shots love it,,,,,,,,

  • That is actually my girlfriend that I was teaching to shoot that distance. It was her first time, started at 600 yds and she said it was too easy lets go farther.

  • Good for her nice to see it

  • is that a girl

  • The scope is a Falcon Optics 4.5-18.

  • i have an auto 243 with a bushnell on it i hit a coyote in the head at 100 yards on the nose with a 55 grain lead nose bullet talk about put a hurtin on his ass

  • What optics do you use for those shots? Nice video and awesome shooting.

  • excellent shooting! What you are doing there is NOT easy.. Congrats! No coyotes are safe when you're out in field lol

  • yea, thats what i meant, what are you using for powder and what not. What are the specs on the round.

  • Not really a custom round. Its a factory chambering, meaning you can buy it in the store. I do reload my own ammo though.

  • Very nice, your own custom round i assume?

  • Yes its a .308 necked down to 6mm. I'm shooting a 107gr Sierra Match King bullet at 2850fps.

  • My my good shooting there sir. Could you tell me more about a .243 calibre? Is it a necked down .308?

  • 18" in Diameter

  • how big is the gong?

  • Its hard to see the gong but its in the middle of the sand hillside, its a white dot.
