We just got our 8 weeks nefwy today !!! :D We've got a black-white newfy.. This is still a newfoundlander. Lanseer is another kin, they have more white than black.. You also have black and brown newfy's ...
i don't think newfies can be solid white- the black and white mix is "landseer". They can also have tips of white on their tails, chest, and paws. Also solid black and solid brown.
Landseers ARE newfies!!!! They are the EXACT SAME SIZE because THEY ARE THE SAME BREED. So are brown newfies and greys. If anyone tells you otherwise they are STUPID.
In most countries Landseer is the white/black version of newfoundland dog. Mine are 100% pure newfoundland dogs. But in some central european countries they started to breed on the white/black newfs until they got their own new breed that they (just to make things more confusing) called landseer. They are taller and thinner than newfoundland dogs.
So in big dog shows in europe they have one group for newfoundland dogs (brown, black and the white/black), but also another group just for the central european Landseer. So the confusing part is that in most countries white/black newfs are correctly called Landseer. But in some european countries they also have a breed very simmilar that are called Landseer.
In dog shows my dogs compete against other newfoundland dogs, and not against the Landseer group. This special Landseer breeding in central european countries has caused a lot of confusion for those that have not read up on the history of both breeds. Since i get questions about this on a regular base i had to look deeper into this topic myself when i got my first white/black newfs.
how cute! my ferrets love to snorkel in the snow hehee, cource they are like wayyyy smaller LOL (my ferrets I mean) your pups are so cute, hope they did great at the show :)
I live in AZ and used to love going to the part early morning to play with the dog, 2 in which were newfoundland dog they were a blast to play with. I miss thoughs days!
Yeah i'm familiar with the history of the newfoundland dog breed. I have been very lucky to met most of the family to these puppies. The grandmother is a beautiful black newf. Their great grandfather is an international champion, looking very similar to one of my puppies. In two weeks they will be in their first dog show specially for newfoundland dogs. Lets just hope they behave :-)
I see you marked the video as your white and black newfies..the white and black ones are landseer newfounlands rather than just newfoundlands..in case u didn't know:)
They're adorable I have a Black newfie who is definatly not a gentle giant!!!
