  • this is the nicest track hes done, he can retire now. ;)

  • I hate star trek, but everything he's done since is awesome.

  • I have never heard anything so perfect, so fantastic. William Shatner has been, and always will be, my best and favorite actor. Live long and prosper!

  • OMG I saw BEN FOLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Who would have thought he could make me cry. What a great combo of unlikelihood.

  • O Captain my Captain

  • Some real singers cant never reach his touch of class...Majestic, Mr. Shatner!

  • Shatner is a master of making fun of himself. Everything he has ever done will appear, at his own, throuought his entire career.

  • How come William Shatner doesn't age? I see him in commercials today and he doesn't look anywhere close to 80.

Marvelous song, seriously it's one of my favorites.

  • See Ya Sunday in Vegas Mr. Shatner. My first convention!! OH YEA!!

  • Awesome song, ben folds makes this song super super awesome:)

  • Star Trek was only three years for this guy. Stop hounding him about it. Forget it.

  • @JeffersonDinedAlone Sure, that'll happen...

  • @JeffersonDinedAlone Well, he did a few Star Trek movies over a 25 year span too so to say 3 years isn't accurate.

  • 2:31 GAH! get a windscreen! I love this song, but that kind of ruins the intimate moment, very deep otherwise. I also feel like he's reading this without any meaning to the words, i feel like the studio version makes stresses that have meaning, and this falls short.

  • One of the best performance EVER.(Really mean EVER)

    Very deep and emotional. Adorable.

  • No jokes I hate this song.

  • @fastcars46 This is not a song.

  • Those that think they could do this are wrong. You can't. Otherwise you would have. Shatner has year of stage training and experience to control his voice and if the average person spoke these words they would sound winey, unpleasant and unmemorable. That's why certain actors are hired to do voice for audio books. And complainers like the ones complaining here are working in the storage room at Walmart.

  • the girl is amazing.

  • Love this. I've watched it through a few times. So deep. Brilliant.

  • Very cool! Never saw this before now. Thank you!

    peace,

    Tim

  • KAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHN

  • Kaaaaaaahhhhhnnnnnn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I can't stop listening to this song.

  • Guy only looks 40.

  • alright.. I was going through this playlist for the hokey factor.. but.. this is growing on me.. LoLz

  • Sorta Doors-esque

  • Surprisingly good! *faved*

  • Happy 80th Birthday Bill!!!

  • I think its great !

  • I saw him do this at the El Rey in Los Angeles.

  • seriously one of the best songs of all time!

  • The Shatner...abides.

  • KHAAAAAAAAAAANNNN!!!!

  • stuck on repeat..since 2004

  • @kafkaEnLefko877 Absolutely!

  • OMG I think my pants just fell off just looking at the man....go Shatman

  • This is really, really good... brilliant

  • This is surprisingly good, guy shouting Khan at the start was very funny!

  • Mr. Shatner. The likes outweigh the dislikes.

  • Wow !

  • woa, i am spellbound. Look at the amazing life Shatner has had. I wish I could be as successful as him one day.

  • What a voice this girl has. And Shatner is always surprisingly good in his way of "singing".

  • I dont suppose anyone knows where i could get some piano sheet music for this? Thanks :)

  • Great version, but they really need a $3 pop filter on that microphone.

  • Remember when Chekov was put in the Agony Booth? This is what he was hearing

  • Khaaaaaaaaaaaaaaannnnnnnnnnnnnnn!!!!!!!!

  • I like this song and the album.

  • Man this is depressing as hell. A "song" about being a failure. Spoken by Willam Shatner. Off an album called Has Been. I guess they couldnt find Evil Kenival.

At least the guy can laugh at himself.

  • @ViccVegaa023 Evil Knievel died in 2007. I don't think he's laughing at himself.

  • really. Seriously? Are you that in love with shitner that you are challenging me to upload a video? How about you give me your phone number and I will call you and just sing it to you. Same thing right? LOL. I LOVE SHATNER! STAR TREK! CMON. He's so funny and retarded i love him! Especially George Taki. But this is just awful. Can't believe you don't see that moonasha. Stop folliowing! Have your own opinion. UNDERSTAND. THIS blows! IT Hasen't Happend... PPSSHHhh

  • More More!

  • This goes to show what a performer can do when he has unshakeable confidence in himself. I mean, the song is terrible, but the fact that he actually believes it's good makes in fascinating.

  • This is horrid. I am embarrassed to say I watched the whole thing. I actually feel dumber for having watched it. 3:57 of my life I can never get back.

  • @adigitalmindonline okay upload a video, let's see it.

  • Ben folds... I love you so much. that is all!

  • im not a fan of star trek...at all, although im not comparing william with the series as that was just work for him, i love the album 'has been' i think its one of the best albums released in the 00's really original

  • this song and this album are incredible

  • This song makes ya think what this guy has been thru after ST. And NOW he's the man!

  • Alta, alta crema!

  • The album this is from is amazing, I'm serious!!! My wife and I listen to it often.

  • Ha. William Shatner for Prime Minister of Canada!

  • love it . its so much meaning when done by shatner

  • Awesome song from 2 awesome dudes

  • He's still a good actor when he isn't playing everything as a joke. This might've been a real second career for him if he hadn't started off with "Rocket Man".

  • Shatner Should be everyones hero. This album is exquisite: well produced, well performed and delightfully written. Big Bills prose poetry is a remarkably powerful and intense thing.

  • The music is banging, not sure what he's trippin on, however the band is one

  • @CballSax44 this is far from trippin' by his standards :)

  • Totally amazing- Shatner.

  • did someone shout out "KHAN!!!!!!!" at 0:07?

  • better than the version on his album

  • its a great song..deeply personal and honest.... everytime i hear this song I tell myself... Dont feel so bad Shat, It happened for you alot more than it ever did for me LOL I have had no success in anything and Im already half his age....by the time he was my age he was on the top of his game...... oh well... back to the drawing board.. I'll chalk this life up to a derailed attempt LOL - file me in the "should have been aborted "category......my motto has become OH WELL MAYBE NEXT LIFE

  • I feel for you my friend. I promise you. It will happen, all of it

  • Very powerful to me. I am 58 and also feel that " It Hasn't Happened" in my life as well.

  • William Shatner: He's not a singer, but how can you not love what he does anyway? Good stuff!

  • I wonder if he can even sing. ;)

William Shatner for PM of Canada!

  • William Shatner you are my hero

  • William Shatner you are my hero

  • I personally think that "KAAAHHHHN" had perfect pitch and comedic timing.

  • AH! he makes it feel so unsure and urgent. Really brilliant actually.

  • He is the best!!!

  • Why he never sings, but just speaks, like in a detective series narration introduction ?

  • grrrrr i hate it when people yell star trek related things to him, like that guy at the beginning "KAAAHHHHN"

he's trying to do something NOT Trek related ppl!!!! just let him do it without interruptions!!

  • Never! Even his funeral will be Trek related! They will cover his body in an empty photon torpedo case and release it to where no man has gone before :-)

  • @AndyLaVie rofl! even if he refuses to have anything star trek related at his funeral, they most likely will have some trekkers sneaking in and maybe some guy in a kilt pretending to be Scotty playing "amazing grace" on the bagpipe ....omg, poor guy

  • @Atlanta23410 I bet Harry Potter will have a similar future

  • @Atlanta23410 : Then maybe he should get rid of the lady singer on his left who's basically singing the Star Trek theme all throughout the entire tune there. ;) Just sayin. I doubt he minds all that much, dude.

  • F....ng brilliant!!!

  • this is breathtaking

  • love it

  • I can never play Croft Manor on Tomb Raider Anniversary without thinking about this song.

  • DENNY CRANE

  • Very good song, Shattner can do no wrong with me..

  • It irritates me when people yell and scream during sad songs.

  • this song is sad and even sadder when he sings it

  • The Master.

  • the guy who yells 'KHAAAAAAAN!' at the beginning. genius.

  • haha I went back and listened to it! xDD

  • Seems like that mad cow lost the battle with Denny Crane :D I mean, I was just waiting for him to draw a gun and shoot a man or two from the audience :D I know...Two much Boston legal lately (:shy:)

  • I'd like the wrap that microphone stand around that tasty bitch and "go in" diagonally.... What a voice!!!

  • every time i hear this song it rings true. one of the greats.

  • dude he's the shit

  • This is Shatner out-camping EVERYONE - an amazing talent. he has the true childlike enthusiasm - he's still searching and curious - thank you for posting!

    /is/

  • william shatner is a beast

  • fuc@#ing awesome

  • Credit where its due - that's a hell of a wig.

Oh and he is very good too.

  • "It hasn't happened yet. It hasn't happened."

    Heartbreaking.

  • to his credit man, he really got an ill band together. that one note the lady hits at the end. i dare you to try and hit that note.

  • Damn I LOVE YOU !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Story of my life....

  • Surely they arent serious!

  • I LOVE YOU SHATNER!!!!

    Greetings From Portugal!

  • anyone else just find this slightly funny and slightly arousing XD

  • hes the man

  • Shatner is a genius - it sounds good because he is a master of interpreting lyric...the lady doing the vocals is incredible and the band is very good, but Shatner transcends all of this, he would have made this a classic on his own.

  • No getting around it, this is a very cool song. Gotta love the "Star Trek Theme" background vocals.

  • Very nice, :-)

  • I'm fan !!!!! I'm in love !

  • that is ben folds playing piano.

    and Lyndsey Jamison on drums.

  • i wonder how many people would punch a kitten for that voice

    XD

  • Reading that comment + drinking Pepsi = Big Mistake for me and terrible consequences for my laptop.

  • i'd choke one...

  • i love also "In Love"!

  • All of these years I've been a Trekker but I don't think I ever really "saw" this man until I heard this album. I see you now, William Shatner, and I like the man I see.

  • WILLIAM SHATNER<3

  • SHATNER IS THE MAN!

  • MR. TAMBOURINE MANNNNN!

  • A great performance of a great song from a great album. Incredible. Well done that Shat! (and Ben Folds)

  • where is the rest of this concert???

  • Just a warning about this video """" DONT WATCH IT HIGH""" haha....O my god thats all i have to say.....really.....really.. Not really sure what happend here....lol

  • where was this filmed?

  • I bought this CD in 2006 and I thought it was gonna be a joke. Turns out the joke was on me. I LOVE the songs on this CD!! SHATNER ROCKS!!

  • This album is wonderfully kitsch, funny, sad, witty and cool. The Shat is IT.

  • @Mayofour it's seriously awsesome

  • @ThePillarOfAutumn1 awesome*

  • Shatner Rocks!!

  • I bought the album "Has Been" years ago. Lots of people get cranky about the fact that he doesn't sing-sing, but it's all so personal and honest when he's not being obviously playfully goofy.

  • One song is interesting...but listen to 1+ of William Shatner "singing"...with no melody anywhere to be found and you will go insane. It ended with Star Trek my friend.

  • Hes so kittcy i HAVE a great album of him and nimoy called spaced out shatner is great but Mr spocks singing is illogical!!!!

  • Born in 1931 his guy is 78 years old ... he is amazing in his passion for life and out there'ed-ness! Like it or not he is inspirational.

  • Definitely Ben Folds on the keys, amazing song and a great album, highly recommended.

  • Im not much a fan of William Shatner's music but that piano, and backing singer just sounded amazing.

  • Love Shatner, I love that he has never given up and won't slow down or stop. And that album 'Has Been' is completely amazing.

  • I wish I'd been there for this. Ben should take Bill out on tour. ;)

  • oh, and yeah that's definitely ben. i recognize him at 1:52 ....

  • Love this song! Beautiful piano and background vocals really make it stand out. Kind of sad, makes me a bit melancholy to listen to it.

  • Nice to see Ben Folds on piano..

  • Shatner is so cool! I like the man.

  • Great actor (Boston Legal was better than anything else he's done), great musician... gotta love him.

  • Excellent video and touching song that lets us know that we all try so hard to achieve--and often fall short of satisfaction.

  • Beautiful.... KAAAAHN!

  • You can buy it on iTunes.

Mine is the Single version which is this same audio. But iTunes has both a single and an album arranged by Ben Folds. The album version is a studio version and doesn't sound the same.

  • ty 4 the share i like it :)

  • Thank you buddy, five stars, thumbs up, and a whole lot of appreciation.

Thank you for the post Jasoco.

Without you! my friend could`nt share this with me.

  • - by the way the whole album Folds produced for Shatner is called HAS BEEN its great check it out

  • I always thought his solo stuff was shit but I never really listened to it...this is fucking sweeeeet!

  • Shatner STILL Rocks!

  • Shatner is one of the coolest cats ever to walk the earth.

    Nuff said.

  • Does anyone know where to find this whole concert?

  • The girl singing sounds like the vocalist on the theme for Star Trek. Yes, I know that was the famous soprano Loulie Jean Norman and was a long time ago, but I thought it was an interesting choice. I looked it up but noticed there were quite a few backup vocalists. Anyone know who she is?

  • she's in fear of pop I think, she also sang backup on "In Love" with ben folds on conan 1999. It's around here somewhere.

i also did some stalker digging and I found out her name is Fleming McWilliams. There ya go.

  • yes, the photo on wikipedia for Fear of Pop seems to confirm that's her. thank you.

  • Ben Folds's musical touch is over this album.

  • So it Ben Dover's.
