actually, i dont know if any of u noticed but if u look REAL close the tip of his nose sticks out of the water. its is in fact impossible for a human to hold their breath for that long and not hav their face turn colors. its called an optical illusion
It's not about lung power. The key is to stay completely relaxed and just dream and keeping your heart rate low. Also breath in slowly but not so your chest is rising up but just a natural slow and deep breath before you go underwater slowly.
My record is 1:59 in a swimming pool but I wasn't even quite relaxed my heart was beating fast in the beginning I could feel it through my whole body. I also swam for the last 10 seconds or so. I bet if i do this in the bathtub I could have over 3 minutes i'm sure. You nice job tho
es Genoni did hold his breath for 18:03min but he previously inhalated PURE OXYGEN and that is another discipline ( something like using steroids). I can do around 9-10 minutes like that.
Real world record (without any prior oxygenation) is 11:35 min by Stephane Mifsud from France on 2009-06-08.
Go to aida-international page
(official page of international asociation for the development of freediving) and see under world records - static apnea.
This 17 minute or whatever is set by breathing 100% pure oxygen just before holding breath and it's not legal. Thats something like using doping. That way i could hold for 10 minutes and Mifsud probably 25 ;))
Google *AIDA international* and go under records.
Only records under Aida organisation ar "real records".
@HARDCOREE Are you crazY that is long! this is nothing to be boasting about! alot of people have drowned! you can go into an unconcious state and die. Its extremly dangerous! under the damn tub water like an idiot! Until one good day you blackout! and the thing about blacking out is..YOU DONT KNOW WHEN ITS COMING, thats why u have to be monitored by another person ! it takes less than 3 minutes to drown! I hope you know that! There are accounts of top swimmers who have died doing this
b) I'm a educated freediver under AIDA organisation (F***).
c) Who sad that i hold my breath in the tub ? I do it in my bed, in a pool or in the see and ALWAYS monitored by somebody who knows what to do if something goes wrong.
e) I probably know more then you about what can and what can't go wrong and what changes are going on in the body during breathholding.
@ others DON'T HOLD YOUR BREATH UNDER WATHER ALONE
It's not dangerous if you do it right, if you're educated and with someone watching you. Crossing the street is also dangerous if you run like crazy without looking.
Thx mate. Nothing special because i don't train but thanks anyway :) I was once on a competition under AIDA rules and there i did just 4:25min because i was tired and that was my first and last competition in static apnea. (2005.)
@HARDCOREE what kinda of training do you do? I would like to be able to do this, i have come up with some breathing techniques but. i would like to know what an expert does?
Nothing much really. I finished AIDA** and AIDA *** courses (i really learned a lot on them, and raised my apnea and deapth when diving). Bassycaly i just do some simple relaxing and breathing exercise. I dont know from where you are but i recomend Aida course (google it). I have somwhere some more exercise on some word file but its better to do it after the course. I can send it to you - drop me your email in inbox.
thats good, but in my opinion anyone can do it that long if not longer. All you have to do is resist the contractions in your chest and wait it out. Im sixteen and after about two weeks of practicing I got 2:45, and my mom and dad are avid freedivers who can hold there breath around five minutes.
please bitch its 2:34 not 2:35

also if he makes the water move a little before he sticks his nose out, it makes it look less obvious.

How do you do face-up?
Does your nose be painful?
piece7871 2 years ago 6
Maybe not the best way to hold your breath.
You could easy pass out, and when you are under water, you can die.
SO have always someone who look after you when you hold your breath under water.
