Europeans are very lucky to have large gathering places such as the square in this video. In America, most cities west of the Mississippi River do not have such public gathering places. There are private arenas and such, but no public places designed to enable large numbers of the people to congregate in public space. There would be no public space for Zizek to give a speech like this in my city. Seems there's some freedom without solidarity to that.
@jsbethke That's an interesting fact! I never realized. For example the square in the video (St. Wenceslas sq.) can hold many, many thousands, maybe even tens of thousands.
