  • Muted.

  • awesome video

  • please answer me on what did you draw?is that a blackboard????

  • @TheFriedMovies no. green matte board. which you can get at most art stores.

  • how do i get skills like that?

  • I don't know Why but i sorta wanna eat d cat :3

  • I used the basics of this tutorial to draw a blue wolf. I looked up for a second and then looked down into my sketchbook and nearly had a heart attack from how awesomely it turned out. "Wholly %@#$! I drew THAT?!?!"

  • GODDAMN they blend good! Are all Prismacolor colored pencils like the same because I bought the Prisma Verithin colored pencils and they dont seem to blend like that when I draw in my sketchbook? I mean whats the diff between the verithins and their other types?

  • @Primape92 verithins have a harder core for good blending get the premiere

  • please can you tell me how old are you?

  • I think this was done well, but you are lacking in the texture of the fur. It's very smooth and well blended, but if you added highlights and darks in short strokes, you'd get very nice fur. Just for future reference. But your technique is lovely ^-^

  • Your amazing!!!

  • What kind of paper did yo use? And what is te brand of colored pencils?

  • one word to describe you:amazing

  • I love the face but when u started what looked like the chin it looked fat.but other than that great job.

  • Do you put a lot of pressure on the pencil? Im a tad heavy handed and im trying to figure out when to put pressure to blend. D:

  • You're a beast with those pencils

  • amazing how the texture just build up

  • omg it is amazing how much detail you put into 1 EYE!

  • I only use Prismacolor pencils and to blend I use Turpenoid (odorless turpentine) and a blending stump. Really helps me blend, stays vibrant. Plus your pencils will last a lot longer. You use a lot less.

  • Thanks so much :) I am used to using acrylic paint, chalk or oil pastels, and graphite pencils, so colored pencils were sort of a mystery to me. This helped a lot :D

  • Great tut man, I just started with colored pencils and this helped a lot

  • your video helps me develop my drawing skill ty so much , we can all learn one from the other.

  • amazing ty!!!

  • for some reason this song is depressing to me how old are u

  • for some reason this song is depressing to me

  • I SUCK at using colored pencil

  • Wow, that's very pretty! my colored pencils always come out weak and dry instead of the rich saturated color you have...whether it's the pencil or I just suck at drawing, I don't know LOL.

  • AMAAAAAAAAZING!!!

  • Just getting started out with this medium having not done to well in watercolour love the vid lets me see how to layer thank you(love that song too)

  • Very detailed, especially the glossy life-like eyes

  • I like your drawing technique...Ive been using pencils exclusively on portraits, I like the fine point and the control....and Im really considering embarking on color....Your vids are a real encouragement and teaching source.....Thanks so much

    "Steves Drawings" picturetrailcom/smilinsteve

  • The paper makes it really come out!

  • meow

  • are you using a different white pencil there, like a different kind or brand other than prismacolor? its a very nice white and comes up super vibrant. your vids help me so much!

  • @blahbabyxox no just used pris. the paper makes it pop

  • Woww love your technique ! wish I can do that LOL

what's the name of the song ? can you tell me

  • @AmAlapoN Hey there Delilah- By the Plain White T's :)

  • the first glance,i thought its a dog..lol

  • i wanna be like u wen i grow up :D

  • amazing! where did you learn to draw like that? I am a fellow artist but have not attempted color pencils...what advise do you have on using color pencils???

  • what pencils are you using?

  • oh my! awesome!!!

  • what kind of paper is that?

  • @diegoalba11 matte board

  • that's awesome, I envy your talent :)

  • amazing I know for my art class we either press down too hard or we don't press down hard enough and we get those white dots all over the place, how many time do yoiu go over an area lightly?

  • @Nxluda hi! You have to find your own style and pencil strokes. I like to color lightly, that way you can add lots of nice layers and I seem to have more control... but don't get me wrong I do press hard when need to. To answer your question... it just maters on the painting. Thanks :)

  • great video, thanx for creating such a stuff, I hope I'll be able to learn something from them :)

  • meow

  • I have crappy color pencil :(

  • Wowww!! thats amazing!! Cats are soo cutee llove it good job (:

  • Anybody who gave this video a thumbs down is a hater! Or maybe they clicked it by mistake.

  • Is the matte board made by strathmore?

  • @Chasn555 nope its just a regular piece of matte board. I think there all the same anyway... So find the cheapest piece you can! Strathmore can be expensive. thanks!

  • How long did this take you to do?! =) x great picture i love the eyes

  • nice drawing but i learned nothing from this tutorial.

  • @gantonski lol How did you not learn anything? She's showing how to layer it. I learned a lot from it. Great Job on the vid & drawing!

  • Whoooooaa prisma pencils are tight! i hate the grainy look i get from using dodgy pencils =S

  • What's that white pencil you were using quite a bit? And what is it's purpose to be on black paper underneath the orange?

  • @Chasn555 just white prismacolor. I use that to put in my highlights. The green board is for background color. Thanks for watching.

  • Wow! You make it look so easy! Is that Prismacolor your using? I love cats and art!!! My favorite video so far!!!

  • @Chasn555 thank you. yes it is Prisma. :3

  • wow!! :D

what kind of paper is that??

  • Fantastic and delightful!

  • This is amazing. Is it because of the matte board that you can overlay so many colors on top of each other or is it the prismacolor colored pencils that allow you to do that?

  • ITS THE PRISMACOLOR COLORED PENCILS

  • Very helpful video, thank you for posting it :)

  • thanks for this (:

and whtas the name of the song?

  • @iiimissyouu Hey there Delilah by Plain White Tee's

  • what kind of paper are you using? how long have you been drawing? how long in total did this take you? hoe big is it?

  • @NaoKitsune matte board. since 10 but colored pencil medium since 13. I think this took me about an hour. Thanks for watching.

  • what kind of paper is this please?

  • Oh my god! U just got urself a new admire. I love draw and stuff.... I am good painting with liquid paint... with color pencils I suck! I have a kit of prisma colors and I don't even know how to use them to make a good draw. I now how to blend colors but damn I am really bad. Good draws but bad paintings! This was really useful!

  • @HeartCollector24 thanks :)

  • i have prismacolors n i have this drawing but im afraid to use color on it hehe soo u layer on the colors bcuz im afraid to mess it up

  • @650Pisces don't be afraid have fun. I know how you feel. I'm afraid of anything with paint and brush's lol.

  • @CocoHotpix haha yea im afraid of brushes ..but yea i just went for it n started coloring lightly haha ...im trying to color a dead girl but i made her blue n my bro says is she like from avatar...hehe i was lik nooooooo ugh so mad he thought that

  • that is awesome

  • What an amazing piece of artwork! If I hadn't watched you draw this I would never have thought coloured pencil could do this. Terrific!

  • uhmm what brand is the white color? a friend told me its a derwent but you say its prismacolor so im kinda puzzled hehe =) great work!!! amazinggg!!!!! omg!!!!! =D <3

  • @SuperExoddus rummutus on mahtava. Värikynä on mahtava. ja sinun paha.

  • amazing.....

  • amazing.....

  • AMAZING!!!

  • how do you know where to add colors

  • o_O

    Damn! You´re incredible!=D

  • what are you drawing on?

  • @dummaaae This is the #1 most asked question. This matte board. You can buy it in big pieces at most art craft stores. Or even go to a frame shop and they have extra pieces you can have. Matte board usually goes around your painting but in this case its your paper!

    Thanks for watching.

  • Oh my god! I need to seriously get some prismacolor pencils!

  • I love this Video...and i love you Art...and i love Cats! ;-)

  • Such a Brilliant Artist! You are Truly Amazing! Could you Offer Me Some info on how to Blend colours into one another and make Fur look EFFECTIVELY like fur please?

  • @whispa215 Yes if you subscribe I'm coming out with a series on how to blend colored pencils. They should be out in a few weeks. Thanks for watching!

  • Amazing I never new someone could actually color realistically I've been drawing for 2 and half years but never seen someones drawing and color this great before.Keep it up and hope your talent will get you far! ^-^

  • @littlejane12 thanks so much!

  • VERY NICE!

  • simply fabulous

  • What kind of paper do we have to use for colored pencil drawings?

  • @Libraa89 Color pencil can go on all sorts of paper. It matters on what you like. Some papers have textures and some are smooth. Those are just things you have to choose for yourself. In this video I use smooth Matte Board (the stuff that goes around frames) I buy them in large pieces. You can use pastel paper, water color paper. And pretty much any paper you can find at an art store! Thanks for watching! -JP

  • im so sick of this song -.-

  • when did plain white t's become Green Day may i ask?

  • how did you get the whiskers to show up on the face? whenever i try to do whiskers, it seems like i have to grind the white into the paper, and even then its very faint and doesnt look like a whisker!

  • @bigamberjack well I had to press really hard, and I do it in one stroke. I would have I have used a stylist but I didn't have one back then. A stylist is a metal tip that indents the paper, so then when you color over it your still left with original background color. Then you can just put the white whisker right into the indent. Again pressing hard. Thanks for watching.

  • nice vid . Thanx . I learnt alot from watching x

  • very realastic!

  • it looks like chalk only not as messy.

  • i cant get my colour peencils to merge....ima look for prismacolor.

  • can you tell me the pros and cons of primacolor? tnx a lot.... I love your shading... it was so fantastic...

  • @chabby316 Ok Cons: Waxy... and I spent like a few minutes trying to think of anything else! I really don't see any other con except for maybe they can be a tad expensive (but there only $1.25 piece) Pros: very blend-able, come in every color, they don't saturated the paper fast, there colors are always very bright, and they've been proven not to fade as fast as other pencil brands. So thats all I have to say! Now its up to you. Thanks so much for watching! -JP

  • Hey, absolutely love your work. i've been trying to color, but then I keep changing mediums, like marker to color pencils...after seeing this video, i can't help going back to color pencils. besides, they seem interesting and sort of easy too. i'd like some help regarding choosing a brand too. i own a set of derwent studio color pencils. we don't get prismacolors here, and faber castell high end range isn't easily available. is there a derwent set which i can get similar to yours? Thanks a lot.

  • @greenbottle23 I would always recommend Prismacolor for your brand and especially for beginners. But. You can't get them where you live. I looked online about Derwent reg. color pencils. It looks like they are a good brand. I found quickly a set online... this is the type you should buy. Don't buy a lot for your first set. You can buy them separately from an art store. If you don't have a store, buy a 12 set online. Also look on ebay for Prismacolor pencils! Look around online! thx!

  • and thanks for reading ;)

  • Hey there, this is a really great piece you've done :) but excuse me i need to know that if i should use blending sticks on color pencils works or not , thanks a lot .

  • @erwinrommel1940 I have a blending pencil but I do not use it all that much... I use it mostly when I'm coloring on textured white paper just to make a few things more smooth. You can choose to use colorless blenders or not to use it. Its all on what you like best. I feel that pris pencils blend naturally but for some it may not. Try it out and see what you think! Thanks for watching! -JP

  • Hi Jacqueline, I love your artwork. I recently started using pencils but am unsure what the best brands are to use. Can you make some suggestions when you have a moment. I really appreciate your sharing on youtube. Warmest regards Pauline

  • @pauline5116 Well I use Prismacolor colored pencils which is different then another art medium out there. It has a waxy feel. And is the most popular brand It's used by most pros. I've never used Faber-Castels (which are also colored pencils) but I've heard excellent things about them. I've heard they aren't as waxy and more chalky. I like waxy cause i believe thats how the colored pencils blend in together. So I hope this helped you choosing! <3 -JP

  • LovelyQyla, you can do it. Your right brain is on. When you draw do you loose all since of time? Do you feel like you don't want to stop and are you driven to make it good? Then you are a right brainer. Welcome to the left brain world. JCH

  • LoveyQila, you should master drawing before you paint so try color pencils. Prisma Color is the best. Then try a painting medium. Acrylic is the easiest . Oil is hardest and expensive. I like water color. You have to practice alot to get control of it. I like to mix water color and color pencil. I also was born with a paint brush in my hand. Work at it especially shadeing. Try cross hatch shadeing.(look it up)the more you work, the better you'll get,

  • Since I was able to hold a pencil I draw in my own way:before I did the body (whit the pencil, and when on I draw the clothes XD then I learned how to draw but I never colored anithing, but thank to this video I guess I get some point in how to do it, so i'll try ^^ thanks ^^

  • i like the music

  • 5:33 its like the face is popping out of the paper :O! i love it. remarkable.

  • :) Thats cute, I love cats. ;D

  • Wow... This is... VERY impressive :O Also, the music is Hey there Delilah by the Plain White Tees, right? It says that it's a green day song :/

  • Thanks so much for uploading this video. That cat is gorgeous. this will defiantly help me with my art. thanks again!

  • WOW you are an AMAZING artist OMG!!!!! I LOVE this picture, so pretty. tfs your talent with us :)

  • hello i just bought some color pencils from walmart, i've always drawn and shaded in pencil but today im gonna start drawing in color too :) you have a great talent and were you looking at the picture when you colored this?? and pleas if you have any tips for me pleas im no the best but i want to learn to be just like you pleas reply back.

  • @elbebebonito Hi! Congrats on starting! To answer your questions I do use photographs and for this one I used a picture I took of my cat. I use photos most of the time but not all the time... and I don't follow the pictures exactly. So to start get a picture with high levels of darks and light (cause those are fun and simple to do) of anything you like. if you decided you'd like to go father in art I'd suggest to buy some prismacolor color pencils. They are the best you can buy! Thanks! :o)

  • wow 10080 stars

  • what type of paper are you using if it is...

any what are you drawing on top just curious : )

  • @doghappy101 Hi ;) I'm using matte board... the stuff you can buy at art stores for matting your photos or art... well I buy large pieces of that and draw on it. They come in a bunch of colors and textures. I use a smooth textured board. and sorry but what are drawing on top? I don't know what your talking about... unless you mean I coloring the background blue......? Thanks for watching! -JP

  • a set of how many do you use? Just curious

And is it true that they're pretty messy and that they crumble or break easy?

  • @1DasOmen I buy them individually. No there not messy at all. Colored Pencil is by far the cleanest medium! That's what I love about it. They can break... but it doesn't happen to me often. Thanks for watching! Hope it helped! - JP

  • Great! :O

  • Wow! Great job! Love the vibrant colors you use! And pretty green paper :] Nice touch

  • wow *-*

    :D

  • It's the best video of drawing that I've ever seen, congratulations!

  • I want to get my hand on some Prismacolor Coloured pencils! You are very talented, Thanks for sharing this (:

  • MUTE!!!

  • Very, very beautiful:)

  • all i can say is wow...

  • so pretty! kittyz r awsome! lol nice! >:p i use like copy paper but i get kinda the same out come but like hilight in the eyes are hard to get br=ecause of the white paper! >:C

  • How did you achieve that use with the white pencil?

I ask because when I try applying white over a layer of say, the blueish teal like in the cat's eye, white seems to blend the colors together more than actually making a noticeable change in value. I'm honestly considering this thing to be a giant tortillon.

Does the paper matter? I used just plain print paper to practice with, using prismacolor pencils.. Does the type make a large impact? I have Verithin.

  • @Joehtosis Well first off using plain print paper will get you no where. Go to an art store by art/sketch paper in a pad or buy pastel paper, matte board. Anything but print paper. Buy a few Prismacolor pencils not the Verithins. You'll see a huge improvement! Putting white in does help the value in a huge way! If you look on my site and see the picture of this you'll see the white shining through. Get some proper materials then see what happens. JP

  • Yeah I just used the print paper to see what effects I would get with the pencils so I wouldn't waste anything of more value. I also looked into the type of pencil a bit last night, I guess I either need softcore or premier.

    Thanks for the info.

  • do you use pastel???

  • @khatanahlya I like pastel but I don't know much about them yet. I'm still a young artist so I haven't explored a lot yet. I do use pastel paper

  • O_O

    Awesome!

  • Wondering if you could tell me what you use to sharpen your Prismacolor pencils. I have a Prismacolor Premier Colored Pencil set and they just wont stop breaking when I sharpen them. I'm using a steel Staedtler sharpener.

  • @Perezaanos sometimes my pencils break... try not to drop them. Always use an electric pencil sharpener! The hand ones always break.

  • ./golf clap very nice

  • Do you have to do it on that type of paper???

  • @Crystalmoon99 there are a lot of papers you can use. I look back on this thinking I could have gotten the same effects on watercolor paper.

  • Love your technique. Awesome drawing <3

  • what type of colouring pencils did you use to draw/colour the cat?

  • I use the best colored pencil out there right now.... PRISMACOLOR Color Pencil

  • Yep, they are the best!

  • great job. question though. why did you use black paper? im sure there is a reason, does it make the colors appear more intense?

  • On this video I'm using green matte board... Well I do use the colors to show through but on this one I didn't let the green show through... the green was more of a background on this one. But I do use colored paper all the time! It's much more easier to color pencil on it you don't have to fill in the cracks.

  • awsome!

what is the name of the colour pencils you used? i especially want to know the white one.

  • Well first off I use Prismacolor pencils. I used just a white and also a cream. I use yellow canary, yellow ochre. I don't remember the oranges but I think I use siena brown, mixed with yellow it looked a lot like orange. And I think magenta and scarlet lake. Thanks for watching!

  • Just makes u wanna pet it and go puurrrrr ;D

    Awesome!

  • hez a ginger hawhawhawhawhawhawhawhaw

  • All I have is crayola

  • Hey its garfield! lol

  • I can never get white to go on top my other colors and tips?

  • did you do this on textured paper? also wow if i saw this pic in real life i would thnk it was painted by an ultimate proffesonal, hope i spelled tht right XD I also never knew you could do tht with colored pencils! you have encouraged me to start using colored pencils in an epic way :3 5/5 stars
