@fald33 "No one can replace Richard Wright. He was my musical partner and my friend. In the welter of arguments about who or what was Pink Floyd, Rick's enormous input was frequently forgotten. He was gentle, unassuming and private but his soulful voice and playing were vital, magical components of our most recognised Pink Floyd sound. I have never played with anyone quite like him." Cit. David Gilmour.

c'est sûr chacun ses goûts musicaux ! et on doit respecter les goûts des autres mais cela ne nous autorise pas pour autant à traiter les autres d'"asshole" parcequ'ils n'ont pas les mêmes goûts !
Genius! What an absolute gem of a song - really beautiful. Rick Wright is so underrated as a songwriter. This should have been on every Pink Floyd complation.
According to NME 8th May 1974 ~ the last track on Atom Heart (premiered at the Bath Festival 1970) ~ 'Breakfast' was originally conceived, rumour has it, to allow the Madcap himself to return to the stage with his old band, to cook sausages. That maybe puts another spin on this song.
My friends are lying in the sun, I wish that I was there! How many time signatures are there in this one song ? Do EMOs have as many time signatures in their songs?
i dislike people who say these songs came from simpler times... It came out just prior to the civil rights movement and during the Vietnam war. Far from simple. It came from equally difficult times. Great songs aren't inspired from no where.
@Goodbyebluesky... Couldn't agree more. RW was amazing and Roger was a c+++ for treating him like he did.
Again, agree it is an underrated Floyd album but it's 1-2 not great songs from other albums I like slightly better. But the best songs on this album, this, If, etc... wow is about all I've got...
a time where people were all unified and didn't care about the trivial formalities of judging ppl...im here with them in this song =) god bless the counterculture
I don't understand why the members of Pink Floyd (Roger especially) don't like this album.. in my opinion it's one of their best, and most underrated.
Hidden little gem in Pink Floyd's back catalogue, Richard Wright was so understated as a song writer, this and the great gig in the sky are two of my favourites
@mongchilde I couldn't agree more. Even when I first started listening to Floyd when I was in 5th grade, I loved the piano pieces by Richard Wright. He was the quiet genius in the band, like John Paul Jones was to Zep. Roger Waters should feel forever shamed for essentially firing him during the making of The Wall. He was the darkest and most passionate of the musicians in one of the most progressive bands ever. I love this song.
oh,this song is beautiful, and critisizes a very common thing nowadays:relationships without love, one night girls, etc.,and it's sad... (sorry for my english)
The Pink Floyd members called 'Atom Heart Mother' their worst album ever, but for me it's the third in the Top 3 of Pink Floyd albums. I actually think 'Obscured by Clouds' is their worst album.
"My friends are lying in the sun, I wish that I was there". A very evocative lyric. At the time this was a very experimental album. Don't know if a rock band had tried a 'brass' album before that time. Love the way this song, (the best on the album), carries through the brass theme. Also love the various piano styles used in one song. Alan's Pysc Breakfast was supposedly written to allow the Madcap to return to the stage to cook sausages ~ careful with that pan Eugene!
@AnonymousBacon Me too, and boy am I happy!!! Wow, I really love this song, I'm so happy I found it......with a little help from my friends..(I hope its not bad to say that in reference to a pink floyd song!)
The suite has it's moments, but this is far out the best album track. If and Breakfast are so unbearable boring, I wish they had extended this one to double playing time. I may have been, it ends rather abrupt.
I was reading the SundayTelegraph magazine today and this was the top album track ever (according to the bloke writing the feature). Great song, possibly best album cover ever.
