  • i think you got the cobwebs out pretty goood

  • independents are easier to lift but not strong like the solid axles are thats why most people sway their independent fronts for solid axles is because of their durability for offroading

  • cool set up, you gonna jump it bro. check out my crusher when ya get the chance. peace out

  • whats better Independent suspension with spring or just the leaf springs in the front tell me why thanks

  • I'm of the opinion that nothing beats an indepent suspension, but with the staight axle you cant get independent. So, I designed this set with a vision of how it would work. It has surpassed all of my expectations and totally kicks ass. I will shout a video soon to show the finished truck and how it works, and jumps.

  • @Lestarosa why would nothing be better than independent solid axles have better articulation genearally and are better for offroad vehicles.

  • @godzillaisnuclea123 Now that I have got the truck set up and working I don't know if some kind of independent suspension would be any better on a truck of this size. I run it in 4 wheel drive high, at high speed all the time and it works great.

  • In this video.. most of the truck is not shown. If you go to the " bronco test day 2" video you can see how the shocks mount to the arms and how the rest of truck is put together

  • perfec idea. i modify my jeep 1955 similary

  • it works great too, check out my Bronco in Barstow video.. it was the most fun I had ever had in the dez. I really tried to destroy it but it totally took all the punishment I could give it.

  • i am gonna replace my coils in my jeep xj soon with leaf springs, love that solution, it gave some new ways of planing, is there any web site with these kits, plans, drawings or any write up????

  • This is my own design and fab , so there aren't any kits or plans. I'm testing it now and Its working great. If you really want some details on this I can do a drawing on it. These springs are modified Deaver 64" long Tacoma springs. They have been modified for this project.

  • just a few details will be enough like:

-do these springs have mil wrapping at the ends to prevent axle wrap?

-did your turning got worse-i noticed that leafs are located fairly close to the knuckles,

-did you use angled shims to level out axle pinion?

-what steel grade did you use for bracetry?

  • Okay...

#1 they do have the military wrap.

#2 The turning is almost the same, the driver side tire touches the spring with about a 1/4 inch before the knuck hits the stop.

#3 I modified the axle myself. No shims, I rotated the 3rd member (cut & weld) about 15 degrees to get a good driveline angle.

#4 all of the fabrication is in mild steel, 3/16" thick tube and plate. The Tie rod and Drag link are chromolly.

  • HOLY shizzz man that is some dirty travel!!

i lovethe way thats set up man.. thats some real engineering right there

  • Leaf springs in front is a downgrade, especially a spring under. they ride like crap and you lose clearance.

  • This isn't a rock crawler its for the desert, and it has 20" of travel. Its a straight axle so ground clearance is always an issue. These are Deaver tocoma springs that are 64"long. It drives great and Jumps better than a coil spring bronco. Since there is no track bar the body doesn't get pushed and pulled sideways as you use the long travel.

  • So what are those longitudinal hinged "locator" rods, they don't seem to be doing anything.

  • wow that looks absolutly sweet message me back in my profile because i got a 93 full size bronco and am planning on doing a similar suspension setup because it seems to be pretty easy to do in relativity to the other suspension kits and its got a lot of travel so mesaage me back thanks! good job!

  • nice set up
