you don't need to spend that much. Get an amd am2 motherboard, fast dual core athlon, at least 2 GB of ddr2 of the speed compatible with the motherboard, and a 500 w power supply. You can get that for just under $300 on new egg. You already have a hard drive, dvd rom, and case. That's more perfomance than any console for less than a ps3.

This game is beautifully made. Eventhough I have an older system (7600GT (slightly OC'ed), dualcore processor, 1 gig RAM.) It runs fine w/ plenty eyecandy!

People think "man, this game is way too fast, and i'm not AMAZING at it after only 45min of playing. And 2 or 3 other people in this game are beating my score, so i'm not going to play because people are OH SO MUCH better, and therefor it'll be unfair.'

Fortunatly, like all previous Unreals, the game has been balanced and tuned to give only mediocre advantages to those players whom have hyper-trained.

It was a while ago, but on high 800x600 i think i could get around 30fps on the smaller maps, and same on the big maps if i turned the graphics down a little.

DX10 has more "immersion" effects, but if you have a slower rig, for example on Crysis, it'll slow down.
