  • Wow, I played his tape over, and over in my tape player........candles burning, my meditation, good feelings =-) I enjoy my alone time.....

  • The guitar line sounds like Eric Johnson!

  • Good song, but a poor excuse of a video.

  • One of my all-time favorite songs, from my favorite singer! Love the lyrics, his song writing on this song (and most of his songs) is impeccable!

  • Music was so much better. The videos were fun, innovative and creative. Today we have crap in HD. I'd rather have great music and talent in old fuzzy video of the day by far.

  • @theschizoidman We are actually all actors of culture, perhaps the spirit of the 80´s lives in present creativity, which now requires at least some optimism.

  • @theschizoidman We are actually all actors of culture, perhaps the spirit of the 80´s lives in present creativity, which now requires at least some optimism.

  • 80s was the best it was when you turned on mtv and it was real music not the rap junk mtv died after the 80s and so did the epic music

  • All HAIL STING!!!!!!!!

  • Kawaii !!!!!

  • KING!

  • This year our marching band is doing music by Sting, and this is our opener. It's pretty friggin sweet :D

  • I was going to say something...but I forgot. oh yeah i forgot what Sting looked like back then...mama mia!

  • DE pinga....

  • ahh brandford marsalis on the sax

  • Man did we take the music of 80s and 90s for granted, with all the "American Idol" junk that is played now. The Police were epic and it was too bad they never could get over all of their internal conflicts to stay together.

  • @profbsu I never took it for granted and the mid 70s and very early 80s is my era for this Californian.

  • @profbsu I agree with you (thumb up) but if they didn't have conflicts they probably wouldn't have also published all this gorgeous music. I mean, it's a side effect of genius and sheer talent... being uncapable of compromise

  • @dalchimsky : absolutely, you are right....But, they only did like 4 albums, they certainly had a few more in them before they imploded and broke up...

  • @profbsu well sting made the police, he made great music on his own, with or without the police he is awesome, the 80s were great for music, idk if it will ever be as good again

  • @profbsu The 80s was the last great creative era in popular music. Now, just sleaze and repetitive manufactured club music.

  • @profbsu 80s were good. I think the 90s sucked.

  • zeelove8 is right great lyrics..again..pulled from his own relationship with a woman

he's sorry and wants to build a bridge back to her heart

  • lol

  • This is the real music!

    I love this song!

    Thanks!

  • "And if I built this fortress around your heart

Encircled you in trenches and barbed wire

Then let me build a bridge

For I cannot fill the chasm

And let me set the battlements on fire"

stings Lyrics are sooooooooo freakin amazing an genius, this new music today is pure Garbage,, now this is real music,, i adore this joint!*)

  • just one word.......GORGEOUS!!

  • great song

  • Sting's solo career has been hit and miss, but he slowly amassed a lot of wonderful singles post-Police as well...although he went far too soft and new agey for a time. His most amazing quality, the one that sets him apart, is his ability to write extraordinarily eloquent and literate lyrics, while grafting them to equally beautiful melodies. Bravo Stingy!

  • I am amazed of the number of great songs sting has written over the years... I never get tired of listening to his solo work or with the police... amazing!!!

  • he is soooo hawt and buff in this video !!! yummy !!! :)

  • Like Sting, Love the Song. This is Music, not the crap they play today.

  • This is a great song!

  • i love this song :)

  • Truly brilliant song, and album. For those who don't like the video, it is made for Sting's women fans. The brief shirt, the closeups of his cut cheekbones, all perfect for turning on his leagues of female fans! lol

  • PURE BRILLIANCE

  • And if I built this fortress around your heart

Encircled you in trenches and barbed wire

Then let me build a bridge

For I cannot fill the chasm

And let me set the battlements on fire

    Ingenious.

  • Yes robo.....a very melodramatic tune...rich sounding.

  • Sting was maybe in that moment (1985) at the top of his sex-appealing, "Terminator's young brother" looks and he was right after quitting The Police (Synchronicity was from 1983 and Police's most overblasting critics and commercial success). I've never been a Police fan, less a Sting fan either, but I still keep feeling this one is his most sincere, subtle, bittersweet-toned song ever (the same I might think about "King Of Pain"), at least from his hit singles. Great song, bad video though.

  • @hammertoejoe well, the thing about Sting is that he gradually gained in the 80s the "respect" Bono then Beck got from the audience years after, as the "voice" of a generation (MTV even early 90s were kinda sick of him by making jokes like "Jesus Jones minus Sting = Jones") because he became the waving green flag Messiah having legal problems with the Amazon natives. That was a contradiction by mixing a musical carreer and stardom with politics...

  • Great song!!!

By the way, in my previous note; the word "Distain" was spelled incorrectly on behalf of the previous echange of words by those quarreling. I am fully aware "Disdain" is the correct spelling!

  • Why to people come and listen to great music, only to embark themselves into conversations of distain for each other? This song is about protection, and guarding someone you love, and yet you all come here and tear each other down. I don't get it! Why can't you just listen to the music and enjoy it? If you don't like Sting and his music...why were you here in the first place? Just saying!

  • great song from one of his best albums...

  • Sting you sexy beast.

  • what hips!

  • what a compelling metaphor - the Age of Chivalry meets the Industrial Revolution, high romance is turned to trench warfare - anyone ever have a relationship go south like that? Once upon a time, my own first love dug her nails into my face and I clouted her head with a closed fist - about as horrifying as machine guns and barbed wire and massed dead, in its way - Sting must have known what it was like to write this

  • @SupernalOne Ah, THOSE relationships. The type where the willfully forceful 'opponent' demands that you control their systemic environment in a fashion that forces you to be a reluctant mindreader and emotional security guard, then psychologically defecates upon you for taking away their 'right' to make opposing decisions to the ones you've made while demanding you maintain perfect order through clusterfucked stimuli. The judge didn't listen to me. How about you?

  • @tyme4mike

Ouch -- I think men are dogs and women are cats -- dogs needing approval and cats being constitutionally self-centered. Or maybe women like to play house, and the man is just the Ken doll. All we had between us were the children, and she got them. At this point, I want to be a hermit in the desert, maybe a prospector - no static -

  • @tyme4mike Rather unpithy of you, Mikey.

  • @The5thAngelRose "Unpithy"? Not in my vocablary. If you're referring to the opposite of "pithy" , then I say you are most likely a woman who grasps at context of words and apply your own meaning from a narcissistically feminist viewpoint. My comment was pithy, but for those who feel I'm saying "pissy" with a lisp, I'll put it this way. "My comment was 100% on the mark. Those who say otherwise simply don't understand the english language. In closing I invite you to "pith off".

  • @tyme4mike Your original babbling was the most verbose post ever witnessed on this site. Your mangling of the English language is hysterical. Your comment was so off the mark it wasn't even in this solar system. Your limp wristed attempt at insult is vintage middle school. E S A B A T M, mike.

  • @tyme4mike So, you have been married? : )))

  • This song is a gift to mankind.

  • I didn't know Sting made exercise videos.

  • great audio!!! thanx

  • Ok lets be frank!

Sting will outlive and out perform any new act.

Because lets face it todays music is shit.

  • Great song. I love Sting!

  • god this song is still excruciatingly captivating, what, 25 years later?!

  • a beautiful clasic

  • Great song! Great Era! The 80'S ROCKED!

  • i like how at the end his face begins 2 fade away & u see him go up the stairs

  • Sting is as classy as they come!

As a lover of music, and a musician, I allow myself to enjoy, the stories that he is telling with his voice, and his music.

Far too many critics, have taken apart his talents, and attempted to diminish the significane of his contributions, but years later, he's still standing, when many of those critics, have other careers!

  • Profoundly powerful in its emotionality, but wtf is with Sumner's dancing? Didn't he ever hear of kaopectate? Looks like he's two seconds from launching the barking blowouts all over himself..fuck he looks retarded...

  • sacré coup de bite

  • Che tempi di grandi cambiamenti che erano !!!

  • This man has amazed me for years... There is no other voice or bass player or composer I'd rather listen too... stings talent is from another galaxy... what a song.

  • aaaa,mniam mniam,tasty sting;]

  • Awesome tune! More COWBELL!!

  • Total sex appeal 3:42 and 4:08 sting me and make it hurt. LOL........ He is so handsome then and has aged like fine wine. Just keep getting better. Poetic lyrics and just think he was an English teacher before all of this took place.

  • This song and this man are genius. Sting is an example of someone who has extraordinary karma. Awesome.

  • this song got me fanning sting :)

    love it

  • A God among men.

  • MMMMMMM! You are SOOOOOOO good Looking!

  • Mann His body looks pretty ripped! Oh yeah,..Great composer, singer & songwrighter...A Unique Musical Talent.

  • @DvD21mIL He is in the movie 'Dune' and plays the character 'Phade'. In the movie he plays a mean SOB. There is a scene when he walks out of a shower. Very hot! He is ripped!

  • Not to nit pick but it's "Feyd"

Most excellent! Serious lyrics with upbeat music masterfully crafted into a great song with longevity.

  • We're passing a spiritual kiss around the world tonight. (katalina translates) Here's yours. ♥

  • Oh god, he's so hot! Too bad I'm 22...

  • gotta love is swag on the guitar, makes it look so easy yet keeps his style one of kind, pure brilliance.

  • the video is bad......... but the music is the best of world

  • If you would just write me I would stop if you told me to but you seem to like me contacting you, as you have never told me to stop writing. You're in my thoughts JPG-every single day.

  • @Bunzypoo

    who is JPG?????

  • Great song. Don't you think so JPG?

  • The perfect song to get stuck in your head.

    Probably Sting's best composition ever!

  • Hot dang!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The chord changes in this song are absolutely spectacular. Also, Branford Marsalis' soprano sax fits perfectly.

  • he is looking longinly into myyyy eyes!!!!!

  • Why does he have that pissed off look on his face?

  • I LOVE this song!! Absolutely one of my favorites by Sting. He's a fantastic artist!

  • hilarious! its true, wouldnt you have a castle or something in a video for a song like this?

  • @vegetablehead Every video after the Police "Every Breath You Take" had to be a bit better. Not only for Sting, but for other artists as well.

  • That was hot.

    I mean, really hot.

  • that was some sexy shit

  • He hardly ever blinks in this video!!!

Pretty crazy intense along with the song.

  • the sexiest and best singer ever <3<3<3

  • this is one of the most beautiful songs i've ever heard. i love listening to this while it's raining outside. :)

this has a very distinctive sound that really stands out from a lot of other songs from the 80's.

  • Great tune, but never had seen this promo video before, and I expected more...

  • lol they don't get Sting. He's a poet expressing an attitude. Listen to more of his music.

  • I love the 80s and I love this song!

  • excelente tema, video mediocre!!!

  • he does come of as one but as it turns out hes really not lol

  • Brilliant song. He comes across as kind of an egotistical douchebag though.

  • Agreed on both counts. Self-absorbed pretty boy.

  • miss rock.

  • LOVE the grin near the end *shivers*

  • Holy shiznit- i adore sting but all considering, doesn't this video seem a bit... i dont know, self absorbed?

  • aren't they all a bit self-absorbed?

  • Sting, the poetic lyricist, writes another masterpiece. Brings me back to the 80's.

  • A True Clasic

  • amazing song, i loved this since way back then, sting he's so fantastic!

  • amazing song, i loved this since way back then, sting he's so fantastic!

  • he looks really good in this video and dang his voice i beautifull!! <3

  • I'm as big a Sting fan as the next person but sweet divine what is going on with the chainsaw psycho stalker look he has throughout this video. Then there's the melodrama fake guitarplaying. I'm surprised this video and its comedy escaped me before now.

  • @bngr1 I think, like me, you kind of grew up.

I was so into The Police and Sting back in the '80s. Blue Turtles is a brillaint piece, but you describe this vid (embarassingly) perfectly.

    Oh, well...

  • especially psycho-looking at 3:58!

  • Yea, he has a particularly creepy moment there but relaxes the stare just after so it evens itself out.

  • ha ha, yeah, but id still have him psycho-killer stare or not!!! hes gorgeous!

  • part of it is the egotistical mid-80s, part of it is his ego.

  • Good Grief, how I love this video!!! To me, He is the perfect man. Adore the way he glances down, then back up at "You" and gives an ever so slight smile at the end. What a beautiful person to write such moving songs.

  • FACTS good lord..the song was released in 1985, the video was likely recorded in spring of 1985. there you have it. Those are Fax's.

  • OMG...He looks so hot in this video! Good song, too! XD

  • From his solo albums I really like Ten Summoner's Tales and from the The Police, Synchronicity.

  • hey...what a body. xD I adore his music. made of the good old wood.

  • I was born a Sting fan! God knows he's a product of straight soul! D.U.D.E. keep producing!

  • Not only good music he made, but the texts are also quite demanding - i like this album, this was one of my first LPs I bought.

  • I always had the biggest crush on Sting! I remember this album well. Was one of my favorites.

  • This is a better vesion than Vevo's. Sounds much better.

  • One of Sting's finest songs:) --

  • @glynnth if you are not free to accept, what you are seeing, just close your eyes and enjoy the music double :-)

  • Arguably my favorite Sting song

  • I agree its a good song, but I have a question for you, are you really arguing with yourself?

  • Sting has a voice that moves me. it haunts me at times!

  • "Fate, lovely Fate" Quoted from The Movie Dune

  • omg I forgot how much I love these lyrics and this song

  • Wow, how old is Sting now? I remember when this came out and I am 41. It was my favorite song when it first came out. Great song! Thanks!

  • I too remember it very well -- one of Sting's best -- and I'm 50:). There's much good stuff on "The Dream of the Blue Turtles."

    Sting is now 58 --

  • @stevevandien

    50's young, especially these days.

  • That's just what I needed to hear today. Thanks!

  • sexy and tallented !

  • ..Encircles you..then Let Me build a bridge, it IS all about LOVE, pure & FREE

  • He wrote his most beautiful songs for Frances Tomelty, like this one, Every breath you take, King of Pain, Wrapped around your finger....When I see him when he was 35 and listen to these songs, I don't know how she could have left him lol. Well I don't know anything about their private life, but oh my god he's sooooooo irresistible!!!!

  • I meant: I don't know how she could leave him.....Well I think so......Sorry for my english, I'm french....but not Frances bouhouhou :(

    ^^

  • @celineND Actualy i read in his biography he had an afair whit his current wife

  • Yeah....I think he met Trudy in 82.....But these songs are about real love and pain.....This is terrible, one can be unfaithfull and incredibly in love....
