@Duvetlord Teams usually form in global chat channels rather than open zones, and almost all major game content is instanced, so you don't see too many people hanging around. That said, population ebbs and flows, so you may have just happened into a valley.
They seem to put a lot of thought into something that everyone skips to lv. Its the same problem I had with Star WoW, they spent 300+mil on voice acting that no one pays any attention too, instead of game play mechanics which everyone uses.....
Also, I don't think that many of the players are that "show-offy". A lot of them have respect for Statesman and the Freedom Phalanx and there are some who are a lot more humble than what these developers are saying.
I still don't see why someone has to die. I hate deaths that have no point in the plot. I'm not exactly fond either of mandatory deaths just to move the plot along, but I admit that when it is done right, it works at times.
