what is this series called

On wikipedia it says that there are three seasons. One that came out 2008-9 which was the first one. The second A Certain Scientific Railgun (season 2) 2009- march 2010. And a third one that is coming out october 8th 2010. Im very confused as you why you and many other people say season two is coming out this fall when their are three?????? please explain as i would like to watch this anime after i clear this up.

Railgun is just a side story hence why the name is different.

@Zaje45 um if u havent watched it yet index one goses from 7/1/2XXX-9/1/2XXX where rail gun i bleive gose from sum time proir to 7/1/2XXX-some time beofre 9/1/2XXX and i have no clue about the dates of index 2 so i would sugest watching index railgun then index2
