@lilmissgomezz1111 I grew up with the bollywood movies from very late nineties to 00s. There were many great movies in that time period. When I see old bollywood movies, I can't stand watching them for long due to the extremely slow pace and long moments of complete silence. Movies are made for the eras, if you don't change, you're alienating your future market whose tastes change with time.

@lilmissgomezz1111 I don't thinks its just the Westernization that has ruined Bollywood. I mean, look at Om Shanti Om, and other (rare) films that strive to merge the old with the new. It is unfortunate that you believe it is destroying the industry. I believe Bollywood still has more to offer. But the rewards for creating a critically acclaimed film only equate to creating that looks beautiful. Until the market stops regarding films in a superficial light, there is no reason to create A+ films.

I guess the key idea is to integrate western culture into bollywood culture only to the extent that people feel comfortable imagining rhw movie it to be a real movie. However the area that bollywood movies are lacking is retaining the indian values that used to be emphasized in movies before. This results in a lot of shallow movies being released nowdays.
It is unreasonable to say that a culture can't be effected by the modern world. All cultures will be at one point. So you can't blame a popular form of music that is being modernized. Bollywood music is enjoyed by millions of people and to think that something that big can't be effected by the modern world then why listen to any form of music...
Korean music has lost some of its traditional flavor, but there are bands that have morphed western and korean sounds perfectly. This is probably the best direction for other nonwestern countries. Just morphing the two together. People might hate the change in tradtions, but indian-amercians have LESS of a say in the U.S. than most Asians do. I think it's because of the traditons that the U.S. is turned off by the culture. It's sad, but true. Western countries LIKE western ideals. It's stupid.
@Netjack What I meant by that is that they tend to ONLY like western things. I'm in college now, and while it's a diverse campus, I barely see anyone going to the Middle Eastern, Indian, Asian, Hispanic or African activities, music festivals, or speakers. They tend to go to way more western things and have way more western friends. It's just that America was built on diversity, but we really only like what's 'ours' not what's 'thiers'.
I'm usually on korean music youtube pages, and pro asian blogs. I like to support other races, and I hope that whitewashing will be decreased in the next few years. As optimistic as I am, it's gonna take years until Asians have a voice in the media and western nations. And yeah, non-western countries might lose some of their traditions by becoming more modernized and trying to get into the western markets. Korea is slightly becoming more western, and they STILL are not widely accepted in the U.S

Actually, I've seen a couple of Bollywood songs that are quite innapropriate. Hollywood also doesn't always have that bad of music. Such as many of the Disney Channel star's songs, although, they don't sing all that well. I'm not a hater of Bollywood or anything! I really enjoy it, actually. I just disagree with your second paragraph a bit.

It is unreasonable to say that a culture can't be effected by the modern world. All cultures will be at one point. So you can't blame a popular form of music that is being modernized. Bollywood music is enjoyed by millions of people and to think that something that big can't be effected by the modern world then why listen to any form of music...

Korean music has lost some of its traditional flavor, but there are bands that have morphed western and korean sounds perfectly. This is probably the best direction for other nonwestern countries. Just morphing the two together. People might hate the change in tradtions, but indian-amercians have LESS of a say in the U.S. than most Asians do. I think it's because of the traditons that the U.S. is turned off by the culture. It's sad, but true. Western countries LIKE western ideals. It's stupid.

@Netjack What I meant by that is that they tend to ONLY like western things. I'm in college now, and while it's a diverse campus, I barely see anyone going to the Middle Eastern, Indian, Asian, Hispanic or African activities, music festivals, or speakers. They tend to go to way more western things and have way more western friends. It's just that America was built on diversity, but we really only like what's 'ours' not what's 'thiers'.

I'm usually on korean music youtube pages, and pro asian blogs. I like to support other races, and I hope that whitewashing will be decreased in the next few years. As optimistic as I am, it's gonna take years until Asians have a voice in the media and western nations. And yeah, non-western countries might lose some of their traditions by becoming more modernized and trying to get into the western markets. Korea is slightly becoming more western, and they STILL are not widely accepted in the U.S

Im Not EVEN INDIAN.. But I love Modern Bollywood movies. Now they can makes wonderful movies like Peepli Live, Udaan, No One Killed Jessica, Taare Zameen Paar , Guzaarish, Kites, Raavan, Saawariya and DHOBI GHAT.. No singing and dancing around Trees.. Some of them shows " real india " in their movies..

i don't like any of the indian movies or songs [i'm indian and 'no' i don't live otherwise] when i watch their movies i can't laugh or cry,instead i feel a sense of sympathy for the idiots that made the movie.The name bollywood is has taken the H of hollywood and the appearance of it to an extent [especially in the wardrobe].It's main difference now is the language barrier and religion. Shahrukh khan in my opinion is the biggest clown in the 'bollywood' circus.

Actually, I've seen a couple of Bollywood songs that are quite innapropriate. Hollywood also doesn't always have that bad of music. Such as many of the Disney Channel star's songs, although, they don't sing all that well. I'm not a hater of Bollywood or anything! I really enjoy it, actually. I just disagree with your second paragraph a bit.
