  • How accurate is the app is it very accurate??

  • @golfpgatourfan very accurate. I still use this app EVERY time I go golfing.

  • @TimsTechBlog Ok thanks, I bought this app yesterday and going to use it tomorrow!

  • Great review, let's see how the new iPhone battery does

  • nice one

  • I have this for the iPhone 4 and i take my phone fully charged to the course and it only gets down to like 40% or maybe a little more. The 3GS isn't that great with battery.

Still worth getting the app no matter what phone you have

  • Great video!! Gonna have to have this app!

  • i have this and its class. one great feature is that when you play with friends and take their score down, at the end of the round it automatically fires out the scorecards to their email addresses, as long as they have given it to you when they add them as a player. all their info is then stored for next time you play. i can get round without needing back up battery but i turn the brightness down.

  • One awesome feature you didn't mention....yes it keeps your stats, however, you can also logon to the website and see your running handicap. You can also play with the stableford scoring system, and.....you can also keep track your buddies scores..just not their total puts. I have it for my old 3G, looking to swipe my wife's old 3Gs to reload, or buy again for my Droid...awesome app.

  • @mahjohnit Thanks for the added note. I'll vote this up, and hopefully others will too, so people can see it!

  • Tim this was a great video! You've help me solidify the decision to lay down the $30. Excellent job on the review. *Brian

  • @Smedhammer Nice brian, glad you found this informative!! and helpful!!

  • What iPhone were you using? Maybe 3 or 3G?

  • @dwghosty I think at the time I was using a 3GS

  • this app is even better when used on a jailbroken phone, lol

  • great vid dude, the demo vid that comes with it is kinda confusing...was using just the scorecard/stats feature with the lite version for the past couple of weeks.. purchased the GPS Version today & used it for the first time, was very impressed! you're video is a big help in finding and utilising its features, thankyou

  • @LipsFurse Solid! I'm glad this video helped!! :)

  • Great Video Man!!

  • Great review.... I have been using this app for about 6 months and your demo is spot on. I've found that if you put the phone on standby (re sync is quick) at those times you don't need it like after your approach till you next tee off you'll be lucky to use more than 50% power over a round. Lastly the stats I now have after almost 40 rounds is priceless. This app is # 1

  • @TEEJASOFF thanks! Glad you liked this video.

  • Great video to watch, I just purchased the product and the on-board demo is confusing so this was really helpful- Great presentation too! Thanks!

  • @andydrums22 NIce -- Thanks man. Glad this video helped!

  • @andydrums22 Thank Andy! Glad this helped!

  • quick question.... so there is no way to know what you have exactly to the flag? it tells you the front and back and you have to do the math as to what it is exactly to the flag right? THANKS

  • @pezeshkian It doesn't give you the EXACT distance to the flag location. However, there are several ways to calculate this. One way I do it is use the Aerial view and target where the flag is located on the green relative to my location in the fairway (or rough in most cases). Or calculate based on the pin location and where the app is giving you front, middle, and back distances.

  • I had the Callaway UPro and loved it. But during a recent residential move it was lost, $250 gone. Just purchased a HTC EVO and luckily came across your GolfShot GPS review. Was going to buy another Upro but not now. This "app" has so many more advantages other than just the $29 fee. First I can use my touch screen feature and this is great to accurately get layup distances. And since I can use it on my EVO a much larger screen. This combination along with Stat Tracking and cannot be beat ThankU

  • @AwesomeVids2View OH wow. I'm glad this video helped! I use it every time I go golfing. LOVE IT!

  • Excellent video - so glad you did this review!

  • @lia01reg Thanks! Glad the video helped

  • Will look into more. Let u know if I find anything.

  • @Wattsy069 Will do. Same to you.

  • So would you say the selection of clubs is pointless? I can't see any reason to?

  • @Wattsy069 ha... I would agree with that. Unless we're wrong somehow.

  • Hi all,

I have lite version of this and thinking of paying the $30 and getting full version.

Only thing I don't understand is why you select your club for your 1st shot. I can't see any stats or advisement later on on what club to use. In the full version is there more info on club selection based on previous shots. Using the lite the only thing that seems to having anything to do with the club is u telling it what you teed off with.

Don't understand this one feature of app.

    Please let me know

  • @Wattsy069 It's just a feature to let you track your stats. For me I like it because if I miss or hit the fairway, I can look back to see what club I used off the tee.

  • @TimsTechBlog So in the full version it does give you info on past clubs used?

The Lite version as far as I can tell gives nothing. You select the club but no info anywhere else uses this.

So in the fairways Hit Missed it gives info on the club you used?

Also mate top Vid hey. Awesome work.

  • @Wattsy069 I just looked. It does not give you past info on the clubs used. My first thought was incorrect. Thanks for bringing it to my attention!

  • if i'm using an itouch, do i need wifi while on the course?

  • will this app use internet?i dont have tht on my sim plan :(

  • can u run this app on airplane mode? will it take up cellular data if i use it - use internet?

  • @moonchavs123 No, turning on airplane mode kills all antennas, GPS included.

  • what iphone were you using..3g or 3gs?

  • @moonchavs123 3GS

  • very nice review, however airvue is better :p i've tried both.. just my opinion

  • So . . .can it last for one round? i mean battery..

  • You may want to get your subscription back. Seems Shotzoom Software, LLC and Golfshot, LLC are being sued by GolfLogix for serious patent and intellectual property infringement. These two ripoff companies may soon be toast.

  • @freakmastermcgee woa... are you serious?

  • @freakmastermcgee well, the thing is, the application is on your phone, the gps is independant of the application so that doesnt get dictated by the application/shotzoom. so all that would really mean is if you do buy it and shotzoom/golfshot go bust, you dont get updates. i dont think thats hugely impactful. the courses may rotate the flags on the greens once in a while but i'm not seeing the issue. and a 3rd party may do updates sorta open source.

  • @Flexie379 Good question. My first instinct would be yes, but then again it's using the GPS so I'm not sure exactly.

  • Nice Vid, and good review. I have just purcahsed this app and looks just the job. I was just going to ask. Does this give you exact yard to the pin? or is it just the front and back of the green? cant wait to use it. thanks

  • very nice job on the review... and nice playing too

  • version 1.5 has a power saver mode i used it and you dont need any extra battery besides how the hell are you gonna have a backup battery on iphone lol

but yeah the new version is much better for that reason

  • Nice review Tim! Question: how are you using the screen with your gloves on?!

  • @ambo33

Unfortunately, I have to wear 2 gloves (skin condiditon) and it works great!!

  • I'm getting an iphone next month and definetely a golf app, and i'm getting this one i think. Great review, looks very good, nice course as well.

    Thanks from Holland

  • does it work on the ipod touch as well?

  • Nice swing. One question, it does not need cellphone coverage to get the arial view map? So does it mean the map is "preloaded" into iPhone?

  • Great video,nice swing and I have a question,

I am going to buy an iPod Touch and intend to buy this app, just wondering will it perform differently than on the iPhone or not?

    Thanks

  • Well since the touch doesn't have a GPS chip inside... this app will not work on the touch. At least the GPS functionality of it.

  • lol kind of deafeats the point of saying you can use it on the Ipod touch, nice one apple!

    haha thanks lol

  • @OwzatOllie I have the Ipod Touch, you might want to try their free score card, GolfShot, I have been using it for the past week, and it works very well. The only thing, is you need to load the course where there is WiFi start the game, and then put it on sleep mode, when you get to the course, juse wake it up and start keeping track of your score and the free app also gives you the stats

  • is this app approved by USGA rule?

  • Good question. However, I'm not really sure?

  • nice review. how accurate would u say it is? like if u were standing next to the 150 or 100 marker, what does the gps usually say?

  • Very accurate. I'd say within 25 yards.

  • @TimsTechBlog

if its +/- 25 yards... that would be about +/- 3 clubs. im going to get the app. i really like the aerial view. that would be very useful and quite accurate

  • Yeah... I suggest getting it. I was very pleased. But, be sure you have a back up battery solution.

  • @TimsTechBlog

if its within 25 yards then that is highly inaccurate

i was hoping it would be within half a yard max!

  • no offense but if 257 is ur best drive ever thats sad i'm 13 and i've hit 300 average 250

  • Non taken. But you should probably join the PGA..

  • @IpodTouchDr why do u go to school for? just leave and join the pga

  • nice music your not bad at golf

  • Thanks!

  • Great review! Thanks for taking the time to do it.

  • Hi there, just out of interest, I play golf in the UK, I was just wandering what iPhone you used this on and whether or not you think the 3gs battery will last longer as it supposedly has a longer lasting battery.

    Thanks, Pat

  • Looks like it killed your battery though.

  • Sweet review man, I got a chance to play with a guy today who had it. It was definitely spot on! I have also heard that the GPS in the iphone is stronger than the ones in the driving units (i.e. TomTom). I am soooooo sold on this app.

  • Nice! Head out to the bay area and see me on the course!

  • Great review, I was looking for a GPS and couldn't make my mind up, but after your review I'm sold.

  • Nice. I'm glad the video helped!

  • I purchased the golf shot and there are 2 problems, one the iPhone battery wears out by the 13th hole (solved by purchasing a battery pack) and it does not give lay up distances to hazards other than bunkers (ie: ravines, water)

  • I agree about the battery. But it's not the App's fault, its really the GPS being active all the time that eats up the iPhones battery. Good call on the battery pack, I did the same.

As for the lay up distances... did you try the aerial view to pin point your locations as it relates to those hazards?

  • Tim - FANTASTIC review!!! I'm planning to get an iPhone at the end of this month and this is an app I've been thinking about. Question, can you think of any 3rd party accessory or homemade gadget that would allow the iPhone to clip onto your golf bag so that you don't stand the chance of leaving it somewhere during your round?

  • thanks! Glad you liked it.

I'm not sure of any accessories of the top. But I do know there are cases that have little ring clips on them. I'm sure you can fix it up to do what your asking.

  • cool i waer gloves al time 2
