WHAT DOES HE HAVE TO LEARN? Honestly. That's ridiculous. I imagine in a few years I'll be able to play well enough to please myself and my friends but THAT my friends is phenomenal. If I were at that level I would be devoted solely to tabla and nothing more. I don't like that. I enjoy tabla, but it's not the passion of my life and that's why no one here is as good as Zakhir or Rohan.

It seems that way, but audience at Harballabh are very knowledgable about Punjab Gharana tabla tradition. You have to be at the top of your game to do well on that stage.
